In their defense, Philadelphia doesn't exactly lend itself to a lot of excitement. I think the location is just as much a character as the cast members. But being from Phila, it was nice to see them visit my old haunts. Especially that one girl who always went off to the irish bar by herself. but where's the story there?
i'm free philly, and i think that was one of the worst seasons EVER
actually bacchus let's start a thread on the worst real world season
WORD! Philly was probably my LEAST favorite season ever....
what are the chances they bring another rw in chi? how was the 1st real world in chicago? i only watched hollywood so i dont know nothin bout the other ones
Chicago got sort of interesting because it filmed during 9/11. It was the first time they had a TV in the house. It was Tonya's season so there was plenty of issues. It wasn't too much of a party crowd (there was a recovering alcoholic/newly gay, uptight man who acted like he was forced to be there.) Wasn't all too exciting overall.

just checked out the address of the loft they had... dam they put that muddafuggin loft way too far into the suburbs. Shit it's still in the city but they coulda found something closer to downtown.
yo bacchus, you know everything, go get me joey's address so i can set him up the bomb :D
i heard the cast is already there, i got the info from this site. it says
"If you thought middle America’s fascination with all things Brooklyn died with the trucker hat, you were wrong—at least, according to MTV. By selecting downtown Brooklyn as the setting for the 21st season of The Real World, the cable cronies (besides inspiring predictable eye-rolling from too-cool locals) have proved this fair borough still holds a mythical allure to suburbanites. The show’s photogenic stars are unpacking their bags at this very moment (at Belltel Lofts, 365 Bridge St. @ Willoughby, to be exact), so don your trendiest duds and check out these downtown Brooklyn hotspots for a chance to chat up your favorite cute-but-troubled cast member. "
this news was posted on the 5th of july. and they have a list of places either if they visted it or might visit.
here the link
This could be great follow up to Hollywood if they play their cards right and it appears they are on the right track. I guess Phily is the season I remember the least out of these past seasons but I didn't hate it or anything. But then again I'm easy to please :P

I am confused as to why they chose this location as well. Everything I have read calls it an urban dead zone in the midst of revival but not ready for prime time.

All Joey's bases are belong to us!
i heard the cast is already there, i got the info from this site.
That site is just saying where they might go given the location. Not that they are in town and actually visiting these clubs. Interesting article none the less.
They probably chose this location b/c the belltell lofts is a new housing building and they could get the space they wanted. It's not in the suburbs. It's an avenue away from brooklyn heights. they a 2-minute walk to dumbo. they'll have fort greene on one side and boerum/cobble hill on the other. and this location does not have a lot traffic on the weekends. the traffic comes from all of the court buildings--which are only open until 5pm weekdays.
no bacchus, not saying that it is true but the site says that they were in the lofts unpacking their stuff already...
it does mention where they could go, but it says they're already there as well.

I missed that line. Probably because it sounded like utter bullshit, lol.
Out of all the New York papers that have been offering total coverage on this subject (New York Times, New York Observer, New York Daily News) not one decided to mention that they are actually filming? Yet, a website that charges for mentions (a bar and event advertising site) just happens to have the inside scoop and knows that they are in town and where they are going to party! Yeehah!
I think I'll stick to my sources unless something a bit more substantial comes along. ;)

yes great point!!
i think they are filming. they just dont wanna tell Bacchus because they know we're on to them (bmp)
haha, nice one. but bacchus has a point. the article lacks credentials in comparison to most big time news editors. if anyone knows about the filming starting yet, itll be those major newspapers, and trust me, word would already be in the streets~.
Also check out The Brooklyn Eagle. They're on top of a lot of news that happens in this part of the borough.
If they are already in the house and hanging out, they're not doing it in the neighborhood because I think I would have seen something...a camera, a sign, something. My guess is that they're going to clubs in the city (aka Manhattan) because there are no clubs around here, just cool, mellow bars.
Brownstoner and Gowanus Lounge blogs would also report on the RW cast if they were hanging out here.
My bad, it's the Brooklyn Paper (brooklynpaper.com). sowwy.
i heard the cast is already there
Check this article and pictures from MM Agency.

So if they are currently doing construction and the building may change, how the hell do they have their bags unpacked already? lol :wink2:
i will go up there when i know who i'm looking for, i mean i guess i can always look for a camera crew, but i'm dying to see what these ppl look like
I'm sure you'll hear it here first!! ;)
Chicago got sort of interesting because it filmed during 9/11. It was the first time they had a TV in the house.
First time they had a TV in the house since LA (I think). I heard they got rid of it because all Jon did was sit around watching TV and drinking Kool-Aid.
Remember on the first season when they sat around and watched Eric's interview on "A Closer Look," as well as Norm freaking out because Heather couldn't tape "Star Trek"?
Some RW Brooklyn news on the blogs today:
Brownstoner: Belltel/Real World Marriage on the Rocks?
Six weeks after the announcement (and subsequent media frenzy) that the next installment of the MTV show The Real World would take place in the BellTel in Downtown Brooklyn, a blog by the agency that books appearances for the show's casts is reporting that the deal may be delayed, or even called off, because of the pace of construction. The MM Agency blog reports that the best-case scenario for filming to begin is mid-August; it also says that filming is supposed to conclude by November 17. Then the bombshell: "An intern from Hunter College who is working for MTV provided an interesting statement that The Real World may not even film there because they were having some issues with the BellTel Lofts building with the location at 116 Third Place in Carroll Gardens as the backup." It is time to rub salt into the Belltel wound?
You all went off on your merry way and left me on a Williamsburg street corner shouting, "But wait... Not so fast... Come baaaaaack... "

No salt. No wound. I had that location nailed a week before you you posted it.;)
It was one of a handful of places that they inquired about.
The truth is, they had ever intention of doing the show at Belltel, but for whatever reason it didn't go as planned and they fell to their backup option. I am very happy. Belltel would have sucked for a location.
MTV has begun moving equipment to the top floor of Pier 41 in the Red Hook area of Brooklyn New York on 204 Van **** Street for the 21st season of The Real World set to film in early September 2008.
The first option MTV sought was in Carroll Gardens at 116 Third Place over a week ago but negotiations broke down due to logistics.

Interesting. AND no filming until September? Hmmm.
so redhook it is? we've seen cast members get attacked by barstools (landon, philly), we've seen a cast member 'jump over' his attacker (dave, LA), now we may actually see a mugging if some drunk 19 year old wanders in the wrong direction. this will be fun.
