I wish there was more of a point to the challenges; I mean, who cares if celebrities win more money or not? They make more sense when it's all non-celebrities who need the money. To that end the shields add another element that fuels the faithful/traitor component, but it could also be cool if they occasionally add an element where there is a clue about who the traitors are or something. This early in the game there is nothing for the faithfuls to go on, so adding elements to the challenges that help that aspect would be cool.
It makes no difference if it's celebs or not, nobody cares how much money anyone gets from any show. They added the shields to make the challenges more watchable since that was a big complaint from the first wave of seasons (UK1, US1, AUS1, etc.) and will keep tampering with the format as they go forward

to me this comes off as an editing thing. there's probably so much we didn't see, but editors knowing they don't vote for parv at the round table probs see no reason to show us clips of people suspecting her to give off the illusion they're doing a better job than maybe we currently think

Trishelle has done a lot of reality shows, too, but I don't know how many were competitive. Little Banana has done a ton of Challenge seasons, and also House of Villains. I think he did Fear Factor, too, but that doesn't really involve game play.
