facebook will probably stay around for a long time because while younger people tend to hop on and abandon trends, older gen x and boomers discovered fb and won't move to anything else, so it's their own permanent cesspool until they die out.
do people still even actively use instagram? i feel like celebrities and influencers still use it, but actual normal people don't anymore unless it's just to watch reels. it's considered 'cool' now to have a page but barely post or only have a small handful of posts. maybe that's just the locals around me, though.

it's crazy to me that millenials had customizable, creative, and personalizable social media platforms like myspace and tumblr.. but ended up choosing instagram of all things to settle down on... wtf. i feel like in a correct timeline, instagram came first and then the world upgraded to myspace and tumblr, because those sites are infinitely better, especially given younger people these days are so aesthetic and visual driven. granted, i think it's largely because myspace and tumblr failed to adapt to internet socialization shifting mostly to mobile. tumblr on phone kind of sucks and idek if myspace has that option.

I've only read a few articles but it talks about this interview and apparently a book she wrote discussing finding drugs and traumatic childhood things she found in his journal idk just very private things. yeah i remember it was Vine, then Musical.ly, and now Tiktok. Vine was a seperate company but Musical.y is what actually merged into TikTok and is basically the same app. If TikTok gets banned then there will probably be another version almost identical to it, just owned by a U.S. company

tumblr is where it's at tbh. it's no longer mainstream and got even less popular after the **** ban, so everyone that's left on that app is just there to actually post/blog for the enjoyment of it and not to clout chase.
also fun fact: in 2019, Myspace attempted a server migration to where they "accidentally" deleted literally all content before 2016, including the millions of songs, photos, and videos. so if you ever try to find yr old account, it'll still be there but it will be a blank profile unless you created or posted after 2016. they probably just didn't want to pay for or exert the effort to transfer such a huge amount of data that was mostly composed of inactive users anyways, so they blamed it on a 'migration error,' but yeah, it's all gone forever and from what i can tell the wayback machine didn't retain it either. kind of sad
so if you ever worry about yr digital footprint, just know that what's posted online isn't always forever and it will actually probably get deleted to save money or end up in a digital abyss.
