That's just a codephrase they use when describing the show when it was ran by America's Favorite Frat Boys who were "just having good ol' fun" as always.
Let casuals tell it, absolutely no drama EVER happened in the history of this show before the Lavender Dolphins/TYB came on and "ruined" everything as they always whine about.
If anything, the show is more athletic competition now. How many people were doing hardcore training for it 10 years ago? If one wants to watch an athletic competition, mtv probably isn’t the place to look. There are real sports and ninja warrior type shows to fill that void. General competition and game drama make this show.
It’s funny when viewers blame the LL or TYB for the nonsensical drama as if bananas didn’t do the note thing and fake relationships in the last two seasons. Plus, the boring cara/paulie/Kyle trash.
There will never be another prime CT. You can replace Kenny, you can replace Evan, you can replace Evelyn, you can easily replace Johnny.
But you can't replace a dude who's just a total loose cannon. They could never bring on someone like him today, which is why the show will never be the same.

Mmm.. yes and no. Challenges in general are more exciting and challenging I think. But I think the formats just screw everything up lately unfortunately. Dirty 30 had random teams and a lot of pairs where, let's be honest, whoever won basically was dependent on the guy while the girl was kind of the bystander. Vendettas basically whoever was in the Troika was going to continue making the teams and continue to be in the Troika. FR had mixed gender pairs which explains itself.
I want a season where individual performance or team performance is very apparent. And that's been really missing lately. I'm not asking for Olympic athletes (lol but we got Theo), but some level of individual performance should matter in dailies more than who you're placed in a team with or who the Troika decides to keep safe.
PS the Final Reckoning final was pretty much a joke so I agree with casuals on that. Like 4 miles of running for a final? Come on. The Vendettas Up the Rock Challenge was harder than that.
