The fact MTV would rather give us meaningless challenge specials instead of rebooting the real world smh

The Real World wouldn't work today, they are too scared and pc. The whole point of the show was diverse opinions. If it were 1998 we'd have a black man and woman passionate about Black Lives Matter, a white police officer from Montana, an anti-vax Trumpie, an Isreali, someone from Palestine, a performative white girl, and a gay drag racer. Now we can't have opposing opinions learning from eachother and coexisiting.

Discourse will exist anyway they just need to go for it.

If they didn't stick Atlanta on FACEBOOK, it would've been interesting seeing how people responded to that cast. The archetypes were in the right direction.

The real world wouldn't work today because it got boring, 7 people living together isnt an interesting enough concept that's why they desperately added themes to the seasons. Let's not kid ourselves.

Also, you have the bigger issue of not finding authentic enough people.

They exist but you have to do old school casting for it to work.

I came from an southern Republican white family and I got the RW: New York DVD for Christmas in like middle school from my brother and binged it in a day. Seeing Julie be open-minded and learn made me want to be open-minded too. It changed who I associated with and taught me to learn from people from different backgrounds. It's corny but those real conversations from the show made me a better person. It's sad we can't have though conversations on tv anymore.

I would rather AYTO come back than Real World TBH

I would rather AYTO come back than Real World TBH

It did and well...

AYTO was a cute show and they could pull people from it. They need to revamp it and bring it on back to MTV

not counting that paramount plus mess boo that doesn't exist in my world

Put AYTO on Peacock or Netflix and I bet it's a hit

I wonder if Evelyn returned, would she be open about her life?

Considering it's 2024, you'd think she would be

But, yeah Real World would probably fair better on a Netflix before Paramount Plus.

Plus, filming was longer and they stopped airing it while they were still in the house. I think if they at least experimented with those it could catch people's attention with the right cast.

It has been on Netflix and did pretty well at least a few years ago

I don't remember lol. All I remember from my Tubescan days was the Gauntlet 1 cast spoiler thread. Joanne ran it and was friends with Katie and Trishelle. Someone literally posted pics while on vacation in Colorado and we had to crack who they were. We couldn't figure out Rachel RW10 lol. Then we moved over to SpeakReality (?) and that's when old lady Lisa reminded me of Evelyn at Tubescan and how she was the one who played as JonBenet Ramsey and her cast picture was like autopsy pics or something super disturbing.

They tried to do a show similar to real world on Netflix and nobody watched. The concept is just not exciting anymore .

Was Real World London always on Paraflop or is that a new addition? If it's new maybe there is hope for Chicago and San Diego my 2 fav seasons! Plus I'd love to see Miami!

I want them to stream Road Rules sooo bad.

But that was also boring as hell.

It was no real conflict even in the trailer. That was never holding anyone's attention.

People like mess or situations that can cause mess. That's why Love Is Blind was so big, it was a messy concept.

I remember Evelyn would play online games on Tubescan and use Jonbenet Ramsey as her character with a disturbing crime scene pic and I haven't ever been able to be a fan because of that.

terminally online edgelord queen

The real world isn't a messy concept, people will dismiss it since the concept is just random people living together. Maybe something like ex-plosion would do well but regular real world? Nah

It can be with the right people.

Averey and Nia still goes viral you just need the right cast and marketing (which God knows they need help with) to keep it pushing.

what season do you remember first watching live?

real world explosion 2 would still do good these days

they need to take over the rights and revamp it

And, with the parasocial relationships people have with people on screen? Following their lives for three months is bound to generate conversations that last a while. If they know who to cast, it could get a few good seasons out.

RW is never going to be what it was, lighting in a bottle, but it still has a place in society imo.

I just don't see the appeal of another real world type of the show I feel like the time for that has passed honestly. People are too scared to be " real " nowadays and what fights are we getting in this PG era nowadays plus they don't even film in clubs or public outings like that anymore so what would a real world season even be nowadays because it surely wouldn't be entertaining

It's not tho, the only way it would work is to market it as something completely different because 7 strangers living in a house isn't the ground breaking idea it was in the 90s. I
