For MTV those ratings are anything but horrible. Look at the demo not total viewers. Saying the ratings are bad kills your argument

Even from a procuction stand point it causes them to make more challenges/eliminations and keep the cast there longer. Like if they never split the pairs we would be going into the final next week and that would be a perfect length for this season

It's all dependent on how many episodes MTV orders. If they keep ordering 20+ episodes then producers need to think of ways to extend a season for that long
