You need background characters and he isn't a complete waste like some of them. He's a competitor and has great commentary. They need to air more of his confessionals but it seems like in their attempts to make this show as unwatchable as possible they've tried to limit the humor and joy from the show.

he is a 4 time champ, he should never be considered as a background character.

but he always has been.

The mental gymnastics to justify Darell being a background character = amazing/icon and other people being background characters = furniture.

.

this man is too fine. idc if he's boring.. he doesn't need to prove anything as he's already a champion.. he can come back every season <3

The mental gymnastics to justify Darell being a background character = amazing/icon and other people being background characters = furniture.

darrell has funny moments and good commentary and that makes him likable. Others don't. Makes sense to me lol

They should have pushed the narrative that both Darrell & CT are 5-time champs (counting CvS) which would make the stakes higher if they end up facing off

I felt they're pushing some CT Vs Darrell narrative with the edit.

The mental gymnastics to justify Darell being a background character = amazing/icon and other people being background characters = furniture.

I don't think it's that deep. There's a lot of background characters I've thought were great over the years that others thought were irrelevant. Not everyone watching is here for drama. Especially drama unrelated to the game.

I mean, Darrell can breed me all day, any day, whenever wherever we're meant to be together, BUT he's still a background character. Just people use it as a negative thing for some and for Darrel, the argument goes "not everyone is meant to be in the forefront". Just some nostaglia bias I'm seeing. I'm happy he;s on regardless of how impactful he is to the overall story.

Maybe nostagilia bias, but imo there are some background characters that still are noteworthy. Joss, Kaycee, and and a lot of other modern-day background characters don't have any charm or charisma or funny confessionals to make them likable, or if they do then they're edited out for the fake drama that Josh, Paulie, etc are serving which is also unfortunate.

Darrell is 100% a background character. I don't think anyone argues that. I think that he provides enough in terms of commentary and other small moments to still be likable. If you serve absolutely nothing, you are furniture. I don't think that's mental gymnastics lol

Still think you're doing mental gymnastics but w.e - I don't he's provided more than Kaycee which you're deeming furniture. You simply don't like Kaycee and therefore think she's not charismatic and justifying calling her furniture.

yes, i literally just said that lol. Darrell has charisma and funny commentary so i like him. Kaycee does not so I don't and she is furniture to me. It's really not that deep lol

Its not -  its mental gymnastics cause they provided the same thing.

Not ya'll calling Darrell boring. I think he is an unproblematic fan favorite.. Because he IS funny, and cute, and a beast and unproblematic. Its just he isn't on here every other season, so I think thats the only reason he may be an underrated champ. But he isn't boring, ya'll forgetting how he beat brad up and almost beat Wes up lol. Everytime a champ grows up people wanna call them boring and want them off, when they are atleast still funny and a good athelete

And you've said it well every time....if people aren't a fan they just shouldn't post here lol.  They're trying to force you into not liking someone you like - which makes no sense.  lol Easy as that.

lol why? They're team mates - they're celebrating.  There is clearly nothing going on there, that'd be just paranoia seeping in.
