The brand of this show is regular people from reality shows coming together to to compete in a variety of silly comps including trivia, eating, puzzles, strength, cardio, etc. while leaving together, partying, and trying to survive to the next round. They have unsuccessfully tried to rebrand as a 5th sport but only 2 Vevmo users and a handful of facebook oldies have bought into it and that's why the show is a boring flop with declining ratings every season.

The show has two general groups of fans: people that watch for the players (as in the politics/strategy/character growth) and people that watch for the competition.
If you don't appeal to both, the show gets cancelled. Sam is literally IMMERSION BREAKING on a competiton show. She's so out of shape that it's almost impossible to focus on the competitions. Nearly every episode becomes "Why is she still here?"
It's like Big Easy in Gauntlet 3 or Aneesa on Ride or Dies. Watching people that are completely out of their depth and frankly embarrassing themselves p isses off a large subset of the show that want to see good competition throughout the show.

Speak for yourself. Watching fit people run up a sand dune is boring af. Watching someone flop and struggle but overcome is both hilarious and inspiring. Big Easy dying in the final and Zach/Frank shoving Sam up that mountain are two iconic Challenge moments. Watching Katie suck and be targeted for it all season in the Inferno created one of the most iconic seasons of any reality show. Shauvon popping an implant, Casey sucking are all moments shown on best of shows. That's what makes the show fun. People dominating physically is so Zzz and typically doesn't lead to interesting house dynamics. The show was so much more entertaining and succcessful when it was the average people competiting. It went so far downhill and has been an absolute snoozefest since they attempted to rebrand as the 5th sport. No one has enjoyed any season of the flagship since the rebrand. Plus this is All Stars, we want the old out of shapes not the same gamebot, steroid using, crossfit freaks who ruin the flagship with their boringness.
