Also not offensive but what does drug addicts have to do with the beard? I take it you have not seen what addiction looks like if you think it's a long grungy beard.
I've done volunteering at homeless shelters and like to hang out with homeless people when I travel. A lot of them are self-proclaimed drug addicts or recovering and they typically have long grungy beards. Not all, but a lot. So that's what I think when I see long, gross, unkept beards. That or the men like the Elizabeth Smart kidnapper.

I just traveled twice in the last 2 months, but thanks for your concern. I am more focused on finishing school first. I work in tech, do part of my schooling online (not by choice) and by hobby is to play videogames. My bad that my life bothers you. ;)
