It's their own poor planning yeah. Or I mean if production was willing to cheat anyway, they could have rigged era 1 to win trivia to help out with them dropping too much or given a less endurance based elim when they knew it was Aneesa going in there.

So the true story is Derrick goes full speed and literally blows up his board like a total moron and some PA's come over and start putting the pegs back on the board - but they do it like an idiot and just wedge an extra one onto the board.
So Derrick is "technically done" but he goes again because he sees the hole but there's no more pegs to put on the wall.
This is a SCANDAL. Worst case scenario - they should've blown the horn and reset at like whoever was in the lead when the crash happened and make Derrick pick up his own shit. That probably would've taken 30 seconds and given Horacio the win. Just sending Horacio home there is nuts.
