Well I guess if they're reading this board I hope they come across this thread. So is there any kind of legitimate answer? I know MTVtres just replayed the first two Infernos, but still, MTV2's schedule looks like it's repeating a whole lot of nothing
What kind of answer do you regard as being legitimate?
I dont know, something that makes sense or thats understandable- like, MTV is not replaying any previous seasons of Real World, Road Rules, or the challenges because there are licensing issues with the music they used on the show, or something like that. Or that there's some kind of contract that expired or whatever.

Or that there's some kind of contract that expired or whatever.
No one who stays in business produces a show that does not have music licenses in perpetuity, BMP and MTV have very good music licensing people, so we can probably rule that option out. Viacom's standard contract practice for contract cast is for "all rights in all media, known or yet to be developed, throughout the universe," so likewise other contract issues are unlikely to be the reason. The only thing that seems logical to me and and matches what I've informally heard from inside MTV is that MTV tries to match its throwaway shows replays to its primary growth audience. That audience is at the lower half of the 12 - 34 demographic. The older shows apparently don't attract much audience in that spectrum.
