Swingtown
Is anyone going to be sampling the new CBS series Swingtown tonight @ 10PM ET?
After moving to an upscale lakeside Chicago suburb in July of 1976, Susan and Bruce Miller must confront temptation in the form of their provocative new neighbors, Tom and Trina Decker, while not abandoning their old friends Janet and Roger Thompson. As the adult couples evaluate whether to embrace or avoid newfound personal freedoms, the curious Miller and Thompson children begin to discover and assert their own morality and sexual identities as they come of age in a world on the precipice of change.
thanks
I watched the first 5 minutes. I have too much stuff to do (dang laundry just does not go away on its own) so I'm not bothering with getting into a new show.

Awwwwwwww Come On Kathleen. This Actually Looks Decent.
I guess you'll just have to fill me in. ;) Maybe I'll tune in next time.
I recorded it (Basketball was on) but I'll probably watch it over the weekend.

So You're Into Basketball Too. Awesome.
Has anyone been watching this? I let four episodes build up and then I was bored last night and gave it a shot. I am through the first three. Definitely watchable, although not spectacular. Quite off the page for a CBS series with drug use, lots of unconventional sex, weird underage sexual overtones and did I mention lots of sex? I get the feeling that the clichés will wear thin in short order. There is only so much you can do with the swinger premise before it loses its luster. Still, they are attempting to tell broader story of the mid 70's and maybe with time they will be able to connect on those other issues. I'm still watching...
Not a bite on this thread? Not even V1man? I figured you would be re-living your glory years vicariously through this show! :D I watched the 4th episode and it was fun. However the story is about to arch to the bad part of the swinger lifestyle (you know, the part where your partner starts "swinging" without you, lol.) I am going to keep tuning in (as I love Molly Parker!)

I can see this show getting cancelled very very soon
I can see this show getting cancelled very very soon
It was canceled before it even aired. CBS dumped it in the summer to burn it off. Not their type of show....I guess some people at CBS were very unhappy it was made in the first place. You have to remember it is the geriatric network with a median age of 54 (which still looks young compared to Fox News with a median age of 65!) CBS is not one to run racy shows. This would have been a better fit on a cable network (like AMC) or The CW.

definetly the cw. but what do you mean it was cancelled before it even aired? so are all the episodes filmed? did the cast move on to other projects?
definetly the cw. but what do you mean it was cancelled before it even aired? so are all the episodes filmed? did the cast move on to other projects?
CBS basically whispered that they would not be asking for more episodes before it aired. Networks generally don't debut a show in the summer unless they want nothing to do with it. Thirteen episodes of Swingtown were made. Don't expect any more unless another network wants to pick it up.
