Survivor Season 17: Gabon, Africa HD
Well what does everyone think about this location for our next Survivor? I personally think it will be a good location. I can't wait for the next season already. I also think it will be neat seeing it in HD. (It may be alittle to soon to start this thead)

The location is usually not an issue (except for the first one in Africa without a lake or ocean) because they are always in an exotic, beautiful spot. The key is that they need to up the stakes and punish more for losing. Make being strong an asset rather then a detriment. More Ozzy types and less Chets. That is what I would like to see.
Africa was a weird season because it wasn't tropical. At least Gabon is by water! the Africa season was so much more intense b/c of all the wildlife. I can't speak for all the Survivors I havnt seen....but i would NOT do a Survivor Africa. I'd be scared a lion would DESTROY me.
I think Gabon will be visually stunning, and yes, this one is in the rain forest with lots of water (which is how Survivor should be.) I agree about the animals. That was the one thing about the first Africa that was very unnerving. Lions wouldn't think twice about snacking on you or your tribe mates, lol. You are part of the food chain rather then on top of it.
I remember being a bit on edge on Survivor Africa about the Lions, but I think it adds an exciting element to the game of Survivor. Not only do you have to outwit, outplay, outlast your competition you have to survive the wildlife and environment. I'm looking forward to it.
Just incase anybody missed the preview for Survivor Gabon, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SNRS8YOIkW4&feature=related
looks like im gonna watch this season.
The more the merrier! I am a long time addict so there is no question that I must watch. :D
Here is some more information that I found interesting:
"I didn't know where it was," Probst told Entertainment Weekly at Survivor: Micronesia's finale. "I had to look it up on a map. It is probably the most remote place we have ever gone." Survivor: Gabon represents the first installment of the series to film in Africa since the show's Fall 2001 third edition -- Survivor: Africa -- which shot in Kenya. "In Kenya, we had armed guards everywhere so that if something did happen, we could take care of it. We're not gonna have that [for Gabon] because they're telling us it is so remote and will probably be remote forever. But a gorilla could wander into camp," Probst told EW. "No one's really ever hung out there. We're going to leave a boma with some sticks and stuff, and the contestants will be given instructions that they need to finish it since we're a little concerned because it's so unknown." In addition, Survivor: Gabon will be the first Survivor edition to film in widescreen high-definition format. "Survivor is one of those shows that you want to see in HD," Probst told EW. "People with bug bites are gonna look worse, people that don't have great bodies are gonna look worse, and people who are really attractive are probably gonna look... worse." Survivor: Gabon -- Earth's Last Eden is scheduled to begin filming in June.
[via Reality TV World]
Well I just looked and Survivor Gabon is on the CBS Fall Schedule. It is at it's normal time (8:00pm) on its Normal Day (Thursday).
Well here is the Logo, for Survivor Gabon: (I probably shoud have put this on the 1st post)
So I was just wondering, When they start filming the season in June, will we know who the cast is going to be, or will it be after filming, or will we have to wait until the show comes on?

Did Jeff already talk about how remote he felt there? I have never looked for a Survivor cast. I guess I could, although in doing so I'd probably end up spoiler major plot points along the way - which I try to avoid with that show.

If it is going to ruin the show then don't do it, it really don't matter to me.

I'm pumped about the HD aspect.
Posted By RockSteadyVybes: I'm pumped about the HD aspect.
I am too. Now we can see what the cast really looks like when spending that long on the island.
The Highlighted part is Gabon This makes it look bigger. lol. :) .... I think I might have posted alittle to much on this thread. lol. I think I will give it a break for awhile.
Wow This Is Great.i Think I've Learned More Geogrophy Here Then In H.s.lol
LOL sofrito HD programming is fantastic for movies and sports. Sometimes, I don't think it does much for regular sitcoms or dramas....but Survivor will be SUPERB HD programming.
Jeff Probst says the upcoming season of "Survivor" has already hit a few snags. "Survivor: Gabon -- Earth's Last Eden" has been plagued with several preproduction problems, Probst told The Associated Press at the opening of the new restaurant Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood on Wednesday. The dilemmas for the 17th season of the CBS reality show, which begins filming in Africa later this month, range from encroaching animals to slow shipments. "Our shipping has been really delayed," Probst said. "One aspect of 'Survivor' that is different from a lot of shows is that we have to ship throughout the season, and we're about 30 days behind now, which is a major problem. We're going to be fine on the show, but the crew housing is not there. We're going to be in tents." Other than the habitation hindrance, Probst also said a crane had fallen over and a cargo hold containing about $100,000 worth of food had gone missing. The lumber used for building props and set pieces for challenges and Tribal Council, however, had safely arrived. Probst said the "Survivor" crew was also having an issue with something that was already present: wildlife. "We have a danger problem with animals that we're trying to figure out how to handle," the "Survivor" host said. "There's so much truly wild life out there, we're not sure what to do. We don't want the animals around for a safety reasons, but we'd love to have a hippo sneak in every so often. I just got a call from our executive producer that we've got hippo tracks at base camp." "Survivor: Gabon," which will feature 18 castaways living in the wilderness in the West African country, will be filmed in high-definition and is slated to premiere in the fall. It's the first time the competitive reality series has returned to Africa since its Kenya-set third season. Probst said he doesn't think the snafus will halt production. "These things for us usually have a way of turning into good things," he said.
via [Probst: Production problems on `Survivor: Gabon']

Yes it was and if Gabon is better or even similar to Micronesia, it will be a great season!
