It's hard to relate to Matt or feel sympathy for him because we have seen so little of him and what they experience on Redemption. I give him credit for doing so well in the duels but as a fan it doesn't get me invested in him as a player or even want to consider him as a possible winner.
I really think Redemption should have ended after the merge because it's outstayed it's welcome for me.
I get what you are saying, especially since Matt has put everything into God's hands and was talking about quitting at one point. If he wants to lose, just lose. About Redemption Island, I'm completely hating how more and more people keep getting sent there. I'm starting to wish that the twist would have been "Vote someone back in from Redemption Island and that twist will be put to rest."

The main thing that bugs me about RI is that a big part of the game is the social aspect and Matt has basically gotten a free ride on that for the whole game. And his only attempts at playing a social game got him voted out, TWICE!
Now he could come back, make it to the end and get some sympathy votes, especially from the people not on his tribe. But it could also come back to bite him because he hasn't built the necessary relationships needed to get the votes so it would just seem like a pointless twist in the end. What's the point of surviving RI if you never get the chance to lobby for votes?

If Matt were to win, I would seriously question the thought process some of them were having. Sure, he's been on RI forever and has fought and earned his spot to come back, but I just can't see it as part of the game. I'm really hoping they never do this twist again. It was good pre-merge, but after that, definitely not.

I would not vote for Matt if he was in the finals. I know that I had said earlier that if he came back and made it to the finals after all that time on Redemption Island he should be a shoe-in, but his social game (at least, what they have shown thus far of him *****ing, crying to God, and telling Rob he was thinking about voting him out) was god awful. He wouldn't even get sympathy votes. He'd get pity votes.
This season gets my vote for the worst ever. It's worse than Marquesas, It's worse than Thailand, and it's worse than Fiji.
Jeff Probst and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad season.

I wouldn't vote for him either but like you said before, this could be a lame end like Samoa. I'm sure all of the Zapatera tribe will be super bitter and not want to vote for someone like Rob in the end.
And you are right that it would be more pity than sympathy but it's still votes in the end. Here's to hoping he doesn't make it back in the game.

I think he would also get votes just like Natalie got on Samoa. They all just seem to hold grudges and wouldn't vote for Rob or anyone that had a hand in voting them out. If someone voted me out, I'd give them credit for it. Or at least I think I would.

Seems we think alike. ;)

I wouldn't put it over Thailand or Fiji as boring or the worst ever. I wouldn't even put it over Nicaragua.

:D I just don't get why people would vote like that. They just need to learn that they are signing up to play a GAME and if you are voted out, it's not because someone hates you.
These last couple of episodes have been really boring to watch. At the minimum, they could have had a more interesting immunity challenge with running, a puzzle, etc.
This season has had so much focus on Rob, it's starting to annoy me. I enjoyed watching Rob the other times he's competed, but he has become overly cocky and very Russel-like.
I really hope next season is all newbies. I like returning Survivors, but it should strictly be an All-Star season the next time they bring back veterans.
