Kent is the most adorable boy ever.
great show tonight! Alex, Anya, Allison, Lauren, Kathryn and Kent were the real stand-outs for me. I thought they all gave fantastic performances.
Kent is the most adorable boy ever.
Isn't he? I honestly don't think he could be any cuter.
great show tonight! Alex, Anya, Allison, Lauren, Kathryn and Kent were the real stand-outs for me. I thought they all gave fantastic performances.
Too bad Alison, Anya and Kathryn can't win. I haven't really become as engaged this season yet and I think I have finally figured out why. I really don't like that we aren't sending one guy and one girl home each week because now it is pretty obvious that the girls will just be picked off one by one until they are are all gone. You know the voters aren't voting for Christina, who I actually was one of the best tonight, but for cute boys like Kent and Billy who really weren't that good tonight. I think I'm also not really connecting to the cast as a whole because they all seem really young and there are no strong men there to balance out the boys. And really they are all boys and they would all get devoured dancing the tango with Anya or a sexy jazz with Courtney. There are no Ade's or Pascha's or even Ryan's from last season to bring that masculine side and kind of show the boys how it's done. No one to be that really strong partner and give a performance like Ade did with Melissa during the cancer dance his season. Yes Alex was very good last week but he is a different kind of strength and he is still lacking in that strong masculine quality that he is going to need when he does a Paso or whatever. Just like Nigel pointed out that Ade basically just placed Melinda wherever like it was no big deal, can you really picture any of the new guys doing the same thing so effortlessly? I can't. It may just be me who feels this way but as much as I love all the all-stars, I think the show and the group of dancers as a whole was hurt by having a Top [strike]10[/strike] 11 instead of a Top 20. I liked having more mature dancers there who had been through a little bit of life to balance out the cutesy boys and girls. It just makes me even more upset that they didn't pick Anthony Burrell this season. He is exactly the type of dancer they are missing and instead it just feels like we have a lot of the same. Same age group, same style, same personality. Sorry for the rant, I just really don't think these changes are going to help in the long run but hopefully I will be proven wrong since I really do love this show.
Agreed. I think the best part was when they asked Courtney if she would devour him and she hesitated because she knew the answer would be yes. I think a similar thing happened with Anya (although she handled it a bit better). I think Kent is adorable in the pure little small-town boy way, and I was actually kind of impressed that he has the strength to partner someone (because he looks really tiny). Billy, Robert, and Alex don't seem manly at all (and to be honest, my gaydar goes crazy whenever they're on stage). I think one of the big problems that the gay guys have had on this show in the past is that they're always being told by the judges that they need to be more masculine. I don't know if they've said it yet, but I haven't been like, "wow, he danced that like a MAN" yet. And even Jose appears to be a bit immature and not good enough to be able to carry a different routine (because he was AWFUL this week and it was clear that Kathryn was carrying it). For some reason I feel that for the most part, I always find my eyes gravitating toward the All-Star. I couldn't take my eyes off Kathryn, Ade, Courtney, Mark and Pasha this week. And since they're not in the running to be in the competition...that's not really a good thing.
The problem I have with this season is that the All-Stars are overshadowing the contestants. Of course you're not going to look great when you dance ballroom with Anya because she is so good. The show worked before because usually both dancers would be out of their element, with obviously some exceptions. I think the best dance last night was Cristina because she was very close to her style. I thought Kent, Melinda, and Alex all did much better than the judges gave them credit for and I thought Robert was terrible. What do I know, I guess!

The new format is killing it for me as well. I've been watching very passively this season, and when I try, I just CAN'T get into it. :(
I honestly think that if they wanted to have all stars in a season then it should of truly been completely an all star cast of 20 competing for a new title. We were cheated on meeting new dancers and this new theme is going to eliminate most of the girls because a guy goes. I think Cristina going home was stupid. Melinda wasn't as good as her. Could this season be even more of a disaster than season 6? We shall see.
Another problem that I noticed tonight is that personality is winning votes. In the past, someone like Billy would have probably been paired with Cristina, so she could have stayed around for a few weeks and have the voters start to like her. People are only calling in for their favorites, not basing their vote at all on performance. And I agree, a competition with All Stars would have been a much better idea than this. I'll keep watching, but I am disappointed.
Also, in this format, Jeanine would never have won. It took weeks for people to get to like her and the fact that she was paired with a fan favorite (Phillip) gave her the time she needed.
Also, basically every week, the girls are going to go home. Melinda is definitely not long for this competition and I can see Robert, Adechike and Jose possibly going home before Lauren and Ashley. However, there is no way Ashley or Lauren will ever be able to get more votes than Kent, Billy or Alex. Way too many young girls watch this show and vote for the guys that they attached to that got the most airtime. It is like American Idol to an extreme, the guys will dominate easily.
Well Ade is already known and not up for the vote since he is an all-star this season so there really is not much chance to get them too confused. There are also two Lauren's, one all-star and one contestant. Plus, it's not like they haven't had dancers with multiple names before like the Courtney's.
I keep forgetting this. But am I the only one who tuned out of this season? Like I'm disppointed with the idea. and it doesn't help that season 8 may be the same thing.
I think most people are disappointed ... Hopefully it will get better once it's just the fan favorites left. Then the voting will be based on dancing, not personality.
Alex is so much better than everyone else. Only twice has Nigel said that this format is working and both times have been when Alex danced. He just got stuck with a bad routine and bad costume last week.
Mannnnnnnnnnn that SUCKS for Alex!! :(
Not another injury...
Really? Who is it this time?
Really? Who is it this time?
Ashley. I guess she went to the hospital with some rib pain and was "advised not to dance this week".
Ashley is one of my favorites if she leaves I will be over the show. Honestly the last two seasons have been lackluster sytycd needs to do something this was my favorite shows. It just isnt the same
The All - Star D Trix has been really good. It just seems to me that all of the All Stars outshine their partners most of the time, but I guess that's why they're All Stars.
The All - Star D Trix has been really good. It just seems to me that all of the All Stars outshine their partners most of the time, but I guess that's why they're All Stars.
I absolutely agree. Most of the time, I find my eyes gravitating to the All-Star. I really try to stick to the contestant, and I think the only one where I was fixed on the season 7 contestant was when Twitch and Alex did their hip-hop routine. I was looking at Robert a lot this week when he danced with Allison too. Dialidol.com projects the bottom 3 to be: Ashley,
Adechike and Billy
The funny thing is, if I remember correctly, even though Alex was going to be in the bottom 3 that week, he still had a massive voting score (in the top 2-3) while Ashley is close to 0. I am hoping that Ashley's injury is only a one-week thing because I would hate to see Lauren be the only girl left. My dream final 4 would be her, Kent, Billy and Robert/Allison who in my opinion, are leaps and bounds ahead of Jose and Adechike.
Please, just send Jose home... I am still waiting for the Lauren/Dominic rumba for the "all-star" dance.
I'm thinking, unfortunately, Ashley will be going home. It's the curse of the injured.
Uggggggggggggggh that sucks. It make complete sense, but damn... I think if they let Alex come back for next season, they should let her come back too.
I  Twitch
I love Twitch. He is mad sexy.
I was really excited for this season when it started, but sense then it's gone done the drain. Too many injuries :(
Dom's crew, Quest Crew from ABDC 3 is going to be guest performers on SYTYCD tonight. I don't know if D Trix will perform with them or not.
Too many injuries :(
I agree with the injury and it being a good season from the looks of it part. I also think
Kent's going to win
