Well on season 8 of Big Brother Daniele was under the age limit when that season started(she was 20 when the limit was 21 and over). But that has a lot more clearly defined age limit while Real World doesn't really have that per say. I think they make exceptions if the one their casting is someone they are looking for.
Yeah that's a good point if it's someone they think will help out the show or fit in a role then they just cast them anyway. Also another thing is that each season is looking for something different more or less.
I presume it would be a bit difficult to find a cast that are activists as well as exciting and love to party...especially at the young ages they are looking for, most people do not settle into their careers at that time.

Yeah the younger you are sometimes all you wanna do is party all the time and you aren't so much concerned about your career. But you'd be surprised how many are out there and I'll wait until we know the cast to really get a feel for this season.

The producers of Big Brother have a statement in their legal stuff that says they can amend the age stipulation at their discretion... and they did so with Daniele last summer (and previously, Michelle on Big Brother 4) in keeping with that seasons twist.

Yeah they make the rules so they cam break them if they want to and hey I guess age really doesn't matter that much.
it is 18+ producers dont look for a specific age group of guys or girls....if oyu have what they are looking for then they will consider you...if they like you I dont think age will matter...at all....
The Vegas season it was 21+.
I'm guessing they go back to Vegas sooner rather than later. Hell, I bet George Maloof would pay MTV to come back! The Real World made The Palms a shit ton of money!
The Real World should do something like Big Brother does with the Live After Dark showings of the house and what everyone is doing that would be awesome

If only they filmed in real time....but I'm pretty sure that would make production's heads explode.

They'd be running in the streets crying..."why oh why...make it stop!". It's a nice dream though to maybe have something like that but they love editing too much. As for age you can't do much about it, they look for what they look for.

It's simply cost prohibitive. As it is now, it's the most expensive program in the MTV budget which is one reason that the execs at Viacom always talk about killing the show.
Lol. Just putting it out there. Maybe in the future then we could find out all the crazy things going on
do you know how much it costs to produce each season?
do you know how much it costs to produce each season?
I don't know exact amounts. Production costs are closely guarded secrets. One of the things I do as an executive producer and contractor/consultant is to manage costs on reality shows. There are several professional software tools used to manage accounts for TV and movies that are standard across the industry.
I did have access to the actual production costs of an early Big Brother season and know there is no way MTV would spend that kind of money on RW. MTV and Bunin Murray -- as their casts will affirm -- are "thrifty" at best.

Interesting,Carroll Gardens is a odd choice being that Red Hook isn't to far.I'm almost giddy with anticipation to see if someone gets their "Jewels Ran".
new brooklyn news from curbed.com
The Real World Red Hook thing that we first reported earlier this week via a tipster may be (sort of) confirmed. Unofficially. There are reports of work going on at the Pier 41 building, which houses Steve's Key Lime Pies, among other businesses, and of people being unable to talk about things because they've signed papers. Metro says that "workers at Pier 41, a commercial building on Van **** Street, confirmed that MTV will house the next season of the show (and the next seven participants) there," proving the adage that it's always best to go straight to the source. Most telling, though, is that Greg O'Connell, who owns Pier 41, "said he signed a waiver of confidentiality and declined to speak." The Brooklyn Paper adds that Mr. O'Connell says he's "signed some papers." Which is pretty much all the confirmation one needs that it's looking very much like Real World Red Hook.

I lived in Vegas for awhile and before the palms had realworld it was a lame casino...But since then it has become huge...one of the biggest attraction in town.
Redhook is a great area. But it's not that easy to get to. No subways stop nearby. You have to take a subway to a bus to get there. There's now a huge Ikea out there and they have free shuttle service that people have been using to get to Redhook for free. And I can't imagine BMP giving them a car cause even if it would be fairly easy to use in Brooklyn, using a car on Manhattan just isn't reasonable. Hopefully the cast will have some pocket change so they can take cabs. Otherwise, they'll be spending a lot of time in local bars. And Redhook isn't really a scene. They also have a 2am curfew? People in Manhattan don't even get started until 2am. Why did they institute a curfew? Safety? More film time in the house?
