SKINS
Not sure if there is a thread for the UK verison on here, but i found this series fantastic. The seasons are so well put together, the casts (there have been 3 different ones) are amazing, and the storylines are some of the most unique, gritty depictions of teenage angst compared to the many carbon copy US teen dramas. Anyways, with the last season (season 6) finishing out the 3rd generation of skins, they renewed it for one more final season. In season 7, we take a look into the current lives of 3 popular characters from past generations: Cassie, Effy, and Cook. Each character has two episodes that play out as sort of a short film (think Sherlock's 3 episode seasons, but each ep divided into two halves). There will be other returning characters that we will get to catch a glimpse of, but for this season alone, it will focus on the lives of the 3 main kids. Here are the descriptions for each story: "Skins Pure" (by Bryan Elsley) Cassie (Hannah Murray), now aged 23, is adrift, alone and invisible in London, trying to make sense of her life. Slowly she realises that someone is following her. Cassie turns towards the unknown. A strange and poignant friendship is carved out of mutual loneliness, but can it survive exposure to the real world? "Skins Rise" (by Jamie Brittain) Cook (Jack O'Connell), now aged 21, has a job delivering drugs to Manchester revellers. When he is asked to help his employer's girlfriend find a house, he finds that he is irresistibly attracted to her which sets off a chain of events leading him into a world of savage revenge and a confrontation with his own violent past. "Skins Fire" (by Jess Brittain) Effy (Kaya Scodelario), now aged 21, has a dead end job as a receptionist for a leading London Hedge Fund. But as she stumbles across crucial financial information relating to a troubled deal and embarks on an affair with her wealthy boss, she finds out that she has bitten off more than she can chew. Her flatmate Naomi (Lily Loveless) tries to stop Effy from ruining her life, but Effy cannot be reached; until tragedy strikes. Emily (Kathryn Prescott) has been in New York for some purpose and her role in the plot is unknown. And here is the first trailer!! Fans of Skins unite!! If you are new to the show, definitely check it out if you have the chance!! I hear Netflix has all the seasons, or you can always find them through many other "resources". I'm sad its coming to an end, but this is a good way to go out... and hey maybe if its really popular, they will do something similar with 3 other fan favourites (like Tony, Fitch twins, Rich)... we can always dream, right? Finally a trailer! I had given up looking for it after such a long time without any word on it. Thanks for posting this.
I think we already did have a Skins thread but after the originality of the UK series died down so did the Vevmo thread. On a serious note, you know its bad when January of a new year passes by without a new Skins.
Just saw some trailers and bits from the Fire episode - it's going to be great! I love the characters they chose and the approach the show is taking.
I loved it!!! It's getting mixed reviews from the fans because it's so different, but I actually really like the change of pace. It feels very mature and grown-up... exactly how it should feel and look. Can't believe what they did with Naomi's character though. I mean it was fairly predictable, but still...wow. Gahh, I really don't want it to end!! :P

Like, if you're going to be partying and not giving a **** your whole life - good luck. Anyway, I wonder how Effy's chapter will end? Can't wait.
I missed it so this is only for 3 weeks? :culpability:
I missed it so this is only for 3 weeks? :culpability:
Five weeks left, I believe. New episode tomorrow.
Yeah I looked at the wiki and each episode is 2 parts.
Yeah I looked at the wiki and each episode is 2 parts.
Really sucks that it's only six episodes and that the series as a whole is ending. I really, really hope it's revived one day.
I agree. Because this is way wayy better than Degrassi after 2008 that is.
I agree. Because this is way wayy better than Degrassi after 2008 that is.
I have attempted to sit through the newer episodes..... I can't. Horrible in every sense of the word.
I wasn't too pleased with how Effy's story ended. I wished for a happier ending. At least she went out with her signature grin. All in all a good two episodes. Up next, Cassie and her la-la land self.
yeah it was definitely a depressing episode to say the least... but I read an article about the two episodes that really made sense to me... the first season of each generation has always been about the partying, drugs and getting into trouble... and the second season is all about the consequences and heartache of each characters actions. The first effy episode was all about the business world and effy working her way to the top through sex and scandals... then the second episode showed us all the consequences from that, and the heartache of naomily. It was sad, sure, but it was beautiful in a way.. and very Skins-like. The script, acting, and filming styles were also top notch... loved how the vibe has changed. Cassie's story looks definitely interesting, but knowing her, she's probs still a little loopy and making up the whole "stalker" situation.
