I'm genuinely excited about this season after watching the trailer. MTV always has that tendency to show a great trailer and come out with a ****** season, but I don't think that will be the case this time around. There's interesting drama with everyone, it seems.
They really do have that tendency, and I try to tell myself not to get too overly excited. You never know if a lot of that stuff happened in the first few days. But even if it did, those few days would be very entertaining to watch.
I think the only reason this season will work is because they combined some great vets with the better bunch of the ****** new kids

I don't think the Duel 2 was that hyped up, I think more of the trailer focused on the "extreme" challenges. And from the people that were on there, I didn't think there was going to be that much drama. I remember V1 telling us that the challenge would focus on more of the actual challenge aspect of the game. This does look amazing, and I haven't fully enjoyed a challenge since Gauntlet 3 but this one looks great.
I'm not gunna lie, I don't remember much of anything from Gauntlet 2 & 3, Inferno 3 or the Island. To me, the sequals weren't very entertaining. I'd only give the exception to The Inferno 2
Duel 2 could have been more interesting if the missions were more varied and fun to watch. They did so many up in the air over the water. Also, even though I love Landon and Mark and was happy for them winning so much, if someone other than a person in the big alliance group would have won, it would have shaken things up more. It sounds interesting and it could have people wanting to go into the elimination rounds.

I think thats part of the reason why Duel 2 was somewhat boring, it was predictable and the final mission was also predictable. Alliance against Alliance.
Another thing is editing. I loved the 30 min 16 episode format much much more than the 40 min 10 episode. the hour long episodes are filled with commercials, and don't seem to show the interesting things. Also, lately MTV has cast wayy to many people on the challenges. 2 people going home in one episode seems like a little much. You don't even get the chance to root for your favorites!

I like the hour long episodes. I honestly wouldn't mind 30 minutes for the challenges but of RW went back to t30 minutes, I would die and I probably wouldn't finish watching them. Sydney& Denver went on forever, and it was to the point where I didn't even watch the rest of Sydney. I watched it online.
Though it would feel like it's taking an eternity for the challenge to finish after we've gotten used to the hour format with less episodes, I actually preferred the 16 episode, 30 minute format as well. I was so hoping they'd keep 16 episodes and have them be an hour each, but unfortunately not. I think the new hour format is worse for Real World, though. Things are over so quickly, and it doesn't feel I get to see enough progression with the cast and their relationships with each other. I felt like with the old format, it was more of a journey. I think maybe they should adjust things according to each cast. Perhaps a cast like Cancun didn't have more to tell and the hour format worked better for it, for example. But for other seasons, maybe the 20 something half hour episodes work better. I hope with The Ruins, if there is a lot of drama at particular times, they will stretch some of the episodes out a little instead of trying to cram a bunch of personal drama and competition drama in the same episodes all the time. Only if there is a bunch of drama that deserves more time to be explained, that is.
I don't think i've ever actually watched a FULL real world season, so that time format never bothered me.
Well according to the mtv.com website, there will be dailies. But right now it just directs you to the Duel 2 dailies.
Where does it say that? Just curious.
Dailies usually get me pumped for the season. I hope they will be up soon. Since this season looks action-packed, maybe the dailies will cover alot of drama...
Where does it say that? Just curious.
Go to The Ruins main page on mtv.com. One of the links on the left side of the page says Challenge Dailies.
On one of the dailies, called Chain Gang, it shows Derrick hitting a **** the same way someone did at the end of the trailer, so that part isn't from the final mission
Who's pumped for this challenge? This is the first episode. If you've seen the last couple of Dailies you'll know about the whole Wes/Darrel thing. What does everyone think about this?
In 1:53 is Wes fighting Kenny? I recognise that Johanna and Evan are there. And those is Wes's shorts.Plus he is wearing sandals with socks.
