This is just a one night special right? I read somewhere about it being more than one episode and I got confused...
I haven't heard anything that leads me to believe it is anything more than 1 1 hour special.
I really hope they put this online.. stupid digital transition :weep:
I am really enjoying this special so far... his whole family is so cute together... It;s so interesting to watch this unfold to me...
I didn't even know that it came on tonight! I am DVRing the rerun tomorrow.
oh my god, I think they have shown more of baya, than they have in the whole season. I thought it was weird that Scott didn't say a word. Everytime I hear someone say that Baya was in the real world I have to think about it. great job mtv, you missed out on showing the story of a great person and a hot girl.

This is really intense! I love watching Baya and Ryan talk:D They're one of my favorite RW couples. I hope that they can work things out.

So I havent really been following Ryan, I didn't even make it through the entire Brooklyn season, but when did he and Baya start dating? He had a girlfriend while on the RW didn't he?
One of the moments from all of RW that stands out in my mind is Bayas reaction when she found out that Ryan was at the reunion. She was about as excited as when she bounced into the house. I wish we had seen her more!

I liked the special a lot. I think it was very informative. Part of me wishes that it was a little bit longer.
I got MTV HD after RWB had ended, so this is the first time I have seen Ryan in HD on my big screen TV. I thought from the standard definition view that Ryan wasn't bad looking, but in HD, wow. Without the awful beard, he's really a good looking guy. And Aaron's got it going on too. I just wanted to inject a brief moment of superficial appreciation here. That is all. Carry on.

Looking at Google just now and a search on "Ryan Conklin" shows that that term was the 9th most popular search in the last hour and the 24th for 11/11/09. Google's terminology: "Hotness: Volcanic".

Ah, the old "We're leaving now. Oh no we're not. Maybe in a few days. We're leaving tomorrow. No next week." I swear the Army's motto should be "Hurry up and wait."

The only negative thing I have to say about this is...that this special should have been longer! Or maybe even made a mini-series type thing out of it. Hopefully they will do some sort of follow-up when he is home for good.
Just saw it, i definitely felt sad for his family. They really love him and are all hoping and praying that Ryan comes back safe and still breathing. I loved seeing Baya and how her and Ryan's "relationship" was going at that time. But i do wonder why Scott wasn't featured more when he and Baya gave Ryan the suprise visit to his home. He didn't even have one confessional, nor do i think he uttered a single word otherwise. He's usually seen in the background. The end of the special had a very bitter ending, since now Aaron has to go back to duty as well and while i was pleased to read that Ryan will be back next February:), Aaron comes back next August. Fate can be cruel sometimes.:( This special also served as a breath of fresh air in terms of showing the Iraqi people as the complete opposite of what many might think they're like. Lots of them really are just trying to make a living, and seeing them interact with the American soldiers was a joy to watch.
Wow, this is was hard to watch for me. Greatly done, but knowing that my husband is headed there- also scared the crap out of me. Perfect timing, as my father-in-law deployed today as well, headed back for the 5th time. I appreciate Ryan, like I do all the men and women who serve, but I felt so connected to Baya's statements. The hardest thing is to be strong and not tell your soldier what you are thinking, and I love her for admitting how hard it is to communicate during seperations. My hubs is only in training now, but I still feel like I am adding burdon on him if I tell him about a bad day because he misses home already. Thank you MTV for getting it right and showing us Baya!!!

It's hard to talk about your bad day or issues going on at home when all they want to do is fix it but they can't. So you learn how to smile and act positive no matter what, and unload on your family and friends. I am lucky to have a good support system here at home. Maybe when he comes back it'll be a different story...(Do you know what I had to deal with?!) Because by then we can just laugh about it. ;) 5 1/2 more months!!
I liked the show well enough but wasn't blown away. Answered a few floating questions and confirmed a few suspicions. Of course my conflicting position would be I would like to have seen more from Ryan but I also liked seeing the guys around him--I wish they would have extended it to 2 hours and let some of his buddies tell their stories too. One of the IRR stories missing is that of people who have spouses, good jobs, mortgages, etc who really get screwed. Mostly I felt for his mom--her pain was palpable. As I have indicated before, I think Ryan holds back on talking about a lot to protect his family and not re-open old wounds.
I wish they would have extended it to 2 hours and let some of his buddies tell their stories too.
I really liked it and could have seen it as a multi-episode arc series using Ryan as the centerpiece but then bringing in the stories of those around him. MTV could have really gone big with this concept and hit a home run.
