According to the paper, the former View co-host is in discussions with cable news channel MSNBC, according to executives on both sides of the negotiations.
Talks are still pending. But one scenario would put O'Donnell in a prime-time slot, potentially going head-to-head with Hannity & Colmes on FOX News Channel and CNN's Larry King Live.
Over the weekend, O'Donnell posted on her blog saying she could soon compete with "the guy with the suspenders and the long, long face," the paper reports.
The potential confrontations common on cable news wouldn't be new to O'Donnell, who regularly traded verbal jousts with her View co-hosts, especially the conservative-leaning Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
While negotiations for the show are ongoing, the Times reports that MSNBC's corporate parent NBC has been actively pursuing O'Donnell for a number of projects since she unceremonious left her morning home at ABC over the summer.
