Being that it really didn't work out well with Priscilla, it'd be better if none of the roommates be from Virgin Islands.
It didn't work for Priscilla because she wasn't of legal drinking age, not because she was from San Diego. I actually think a local would be helpful for a season like this for a reason that BigKahuna mentioned - dialect. It'd be nice to have someone in the house to help decipher what people might be saying.
They could do it like Cancun, Where Ayiia and I think Derek spoke the language.
Cancun has millions of English-speaking visitors a year and the majority of people there are able to get by in both Spanish and English. I doubt the cast had any issues. If I knew I would be in a country where English was not the first language, I'd spend time doing research on some basic terms (directions, please/thank you, bathroom, numbers, etc). The official language of the USVI is English. The issue here is not the language (English), but the dialect.

With as many cruise ships that go into the VI's, I doubt that the language will be that big of a problem unless they go way off the beaten path. I would have rather seen them caddying for the rich folks in St. Barts but I guess that ship has sailed.
even more of a reason to have non Virgin Islanders.
I don't understand what you're saying. Why is the difference in dialect even more of a reason to have those who aren't from the Virgin Islands?
I don't understand what you're saying. Why is the difference in dialect even more of a reason to have those who aren't from the Virgin Islands?
No I'm saying that having one person in the house that speaks a different dialect from everyone else would make it hard for that person to communicate or even live with their roomates, I mainly thinking from watching College Hill Virgin Islands where they made it out as if they could not understand their roommates from the Islands and eventually it became The Islanders Vs The American which isn't something I particularly want to see.
The U.S. Virgin Islands? Nice! I'm glad they picked a new location this season. St. Thomas looks amazing. The house looks amazing. Now, I hope the cast is amazing.

And I'm sure they could find people who are bilingual, or fluent enough in English. And there's no reason why it would become "The Islanders vs. The Americans", unless the cast is immature and their personalities suck. Concerning the cast in its entirety, hopefully it'll be very culturally diverse, because the San Diego cast wasn't diverse enough. 2-3 black cast members, 2-3 mixed or latino, and 2-3 white would be good.
Differences in race doesn't always mean you'll have a diverse, interesting cast. I'd much rather they pick people who have different personalities/interests and aren't afraid to reveal themselves on camera. When you have different interests, values, backgrounds etc but you also aren't putting on an act for the camera, good tv will come about naturally.

Very glad to see they didn't pick another 'Back to...' or 2.0 location. Now onto the all important question of - Is there a Subway in their location?

FINALLY a new location. This might draw in more anticipation.
FINALLY a new location. This might draw in more anticipation.
Or.... it just gets a yawn. At this point, I'm undecided.
Or.... it just gets a yawn. At this point, I'm undecided.
Let me help you with that. A projectile yawn...:puke: (third time's the charm, eh) This cast is going to have to be off the hook to offset the location choice, especially since I presume the series won't air until September when all the new shows will be rolling out and the major competition will be on (assuming of course that it is not interrupted by the MTV Live Coverage of the Snooki Birthing News).
I wonder if they will finally cast an Asian male. Been harping on that for years. What's the deal? They can't find one Asian guy in the last 5 years who wants to do the show? I really doubt that.
Let me help you with that. A projectile yawn...:puke: (third time's the charm, eh)
Thanks, I think. :mda:

I miss people like Kim( San fran) and Steve (road rules)
Very glad to see they didn't pick another 'Back to...' or 2.0 location. MTV confirms this season and it will be called Real World: St.Thomas MTV confirms Real World: St. Thomas Interesting Notes: 7 roomates and they will travel all around VI and not just be St.Thomas.

Gotta love MTV. And yeah we already knew they wouldn't just be in St. Thomas. That's kind of a given though I can see why you said that.
LOL. Gotta love MTV. And yeah we already knew they wouldn't just be in St. Thomas. That's kind of a given though I can see why you said that.
They are quite predictable. They always do their release a day or two after the cat is fully out of the bag.
Maybe it's just me, but I think calling it RW: St. Thomas is kind of a dumb idea. I don't think people will necessarily know what that is. I feel like calling it RW: Virgin Islands or even something like RW: Caribbean would be better. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong.
They are quite predictable. They always do their release a day or two after the cat is fully out of the bag.
Absolutely. the cat is out of the bag, had its littler and went about its daily business. And yeah I agree RWVI has a unique appeal.
This may be weird but that kitchen is nice. Reminds me of the Duel's kitchen

RW: Virgin Islands has more of a ring to it, seems more exciting, and since they are traveling throughout, would fit the show more.

Unless the house is filled with virgins and they are playing on a double entendre, I prefer RW: ST. Thomas. St. Thomas makes me think "Caribbean Island"; "Virgin Islands" makes me think, "That weird place that gets to vote in US elections even though they shouldn't be allowed, darn fence sitters."
The whole St. Thomas name makes no sense, if they are going off (most) past seasons then it should be called "The Real World: Charlotte Amalie" plus its not as if the Hawaii season was called "The Real World: Oahu". Personally I think they should go for "The Real World: Virgin Islands"

Personally I think they should go for "The Real World: Virgin Islands"
For technical accuracy, wouldn't it be "The Real Word: Hassel Island," since the Island is not inside the geographic boundaries of Charlotte Amalie? Of course, probably only a small handful of viewers would have heard of Hassel Island.
