The Real World: New Orleans 2 - House

Thanks to Nolasaint's point in the right direction and my awesome research skills, I think we've got it!! 1633 Dufossat St. Uptown New Orleans. 7 bedrooms, 8 baths, currently on the market for 1.7 million dollars. According to Sotheby's website, it is 9,860 square feet, although there have been other accounts as to its size. Found this in the NOLA permit database: Pictures coming in a minute. To anyone who reads this and wishes to recirculate it (that means you, DW): Please properly cite Vevmo as your original source.

Unless someone else setting a house up for filming, you do have it. Enjoy folks. As for the locals, I think we can show some southern hospitality and be sure to be good hosts and not all show up on the door step ;) things like this can really help the city, so let's make a good impression on the crew, and for the city when the show airs. I'm sure you wouldve gotten it pretty soon either way. It's made it's way into the local gossip so it was only a matter of time til it broke here.
Looks pretty swank. If the house looks familiar, it was because NBA player Baron Davis first showed it to us on MTV's Cribs. Oh, that's a really nice house. Found some more pictures here: DORIAN BENNETT SOTHEBY'S INTERNATIONAL REALTY
Floor plans from zillow.com. On this first picture, the pool area is located to the left of the master bedroom and below the greatroom: Here's the description from them.
A lovely landscaped front garden leads to an elegant entrance and foyer with a dramatic staircase to the major living areas. This grand home features high ceilings and wonderful hardwood floors throughout plus large elegant windows with splendid views on the city. Also included is a fun additional apartment which would make for a private screening room, billiard room, or a separate apartment for guests or live-in staff.
And for those of who you might prefer to see it with your own eyes: Eclectic Home Baron Davis' episode of MTV Cribs. I'm assuming one of the smaller bedrooms (perhaps the one on the first floor) will be used as the confessional, with another one of the bedrooms used by production for their personal interviews.

According to permits, Baron Davis still owns the house. Good job team. Another BMP house foiled haha. There are two permits by the way.
There are two permits by the way.
Yes I saw that, but the other permit didn't strike me as important as this one which clearly says "once production is complete" and is the exact same wording as the permits purchased for the DC house. Baron Davis is listed as the owner on both permits, which obviously makes him still the legal owner of the house.
Really nice house.

It looks really nice. I'd wish (but doubt) that MTV/BMP keeps that design and look rather than going ultra tacky. I was hoping when I found the permit site that the permit text would be searchable, because I was going to use the word "production" Southeastern Architectural Archives, Tulane, USA Seems historical (unless this is from a former property at the same address) And it's only a 4 min drive from the old RW house.

Molds how did you locate it based off of the info given?
Molds how did you locate it based off of the info given?
What, "I'm awesome" isn't enough? ;) I took the info that Nolasaint gave us (that it was on Dufossat a couple blocks off St Charles St) then cross-checked it with permits in the NOLA database on Dufossat St. Only 3 came up, and 2 of them belonged to 1633, one of which mentioned production... It also stood out to me that the owner's address was based in Santa Monica (which turns out to be a firm that deals with entertainment management). Sotheby's site says that the house was once mentioned on MTV Cribs. So I did a Google search for "MTV Cribs New Orleans" and Baron Davis came up. Also a match to the NOLA permit under which "Davis Baron" is the owner. So, I crossed the pictures with his Cribs video. Absolute, without fail, 100% match.
Lol I can say I live near this house. If this is 100% a match, thats pretty nuts. Its fairly close to Tulane and Loyola Univ.
That house is beautiful!!! If I wasn't too old, married to a soldier who is already gone from home, and needed a steady income to pay my mortgage, I would totally want to be cast! Oh well...
I just drove by. They appear to still be doing some construction work.
I just drove by. They appear to still be doing some construction work.
Get us some photos if you could. ;)
I won't be able to get some until later tonight and/or in the morning, but I will certainly get some posted.
Here is the street view from Google Maps. You can see that the house is already fenced in, so putting up a front gate shouldn't be much of a problem: And here is the bird's eye view from Bing:
When I went I just did a quick drive by and honestly it didn't look that much different on the outside... I'll get more detailed pics once I get off work. I'm curious to see if they've put up any nice outside lighting.

All it says is "TEMP POLE- 09COM-01488" which to me, means nothing. Then again, I'm not an electrician. With all of the balconies and the pool area, they must have had to put up some sort of lighting.
Yeah, I'm sure they've done something. Maybe they will have it going tonight. The construction crews had their tools and machines out in the garage. I noticed in the permits "walls over garage" was listed, so I know that wasn't done as of 11a today. I was under the impression filming had already begun. I wonder how much longer they are going to be in the construction phase...

Did you notice them moving in any furniture, or do you think were they still working on the physical aspects of the house?
Though I'm not certain, I'm pretty sure they are only on physical aspects of the structure at this time. If they are working late, etc... I bet the physical work could be completed somewhat quickly. I know there were no furniture trucks or anything of that nature parked on the roads. I hope to be able to provide more detail for everyone after tonights trip.

Bing's bird's eye view is rotatable by the way.
Well from the looks of the DC house, furniture started coming in about 10 days before they moved in. If they're still working on physical aspects...the start date might be a little later than anticipated. Definitely still looks like a start date before the end of the month, but I don't know if it will fall into the time frame we're currently looking at (the end of this week). I didn't know bird's eye view was rotatable! Thanks 43000. I'll get some more pictures.
The original picture from Bing was of the south side of the house. Here is the east side: The north side: And the west side, which has the entrance to the garage:

I like that it is an actual house, and not a warehouse. Great job guys! Actually, this house looks like something they would use on the bad girls club.
Love the house. Awesome job!

Now we just need the NY Post to pick up our 'industry' news.
So close to where Colie lived while going to Tulane. She will be itching to make an appearance at that house.
I've sent Bacchus some pics to resize and post. Hopefully he'll be able to do that soon. It was dark, so the pics turned out a little grainy. I plan on going back in the morning and getting some more. The people were still working and you could hear saws and other power tools running. On the first floor brown paper was put up over the windows so you couldnt see directly in. I think that can been seen in one of the pictures. Also there was a "no parking" sign that was posted for the dates 01/07/10 to 05/22/10...
