Real World Hollywood: Sometimes we stumble
MTV has posted the trailer for the upcoming Real World Hollywood, the 20th season of the franchise, and it proves one thing: good editors can work miracles. (That the trailer is on their site but impossible to view elsewhere proves something else: Whoever runs mtv.com or makes decisions for the site hasn't got a clue; the "embed" code exists but still doesn't work. For a channel that used to be cutting edge, their online performance is pathetic. Hell, they don't even have the video on their YouTube channel, something a six-year-old could manage.) Anyway, the trailer is edited like one for a film, and kind of starts out like a horror film with lots of static noises and quick, fuzzy cuts to the crazy drama. While it highlights the insanity that will unfold, the trailer frames all of this as a sappy, redemptive drama, like the show has actual value: "Sometimes we stumble. Sometimes we fall. But we always get back up." Excuse me while I go cry. For what this show has become. The reality of the new season, though, is clear from the copy on MTV's web site: "The Real World turns 20 and heads to Hollywood, bringing all the drama, fights and craziness that you love so much." And one cast member says, "Hollywood, seriously, might be the death of me." That would have been a rather fitting line had this season been the end of the series, too, but alas, it's charging ahead with season 21.
hahaha i liked the trailer! it intruiged me.
Andy loves beating up on The Real World.... He is dead on with the embed code rant. That is why we are forced to grab horrible copies (sometimes handheld video captures) of the commercials and post them to youtube. No other media company actively tries to enforce not having their trailers be viewed!
