No gay guys, gay themes make viewers switch off (as pathetic as it is, it true, this is America).
This would be my ideal set up,
Location: Detroit, Boston or Chicago.
House: The ultimate bachelor pad.
Cast:
Ethnicity - 2 Black guys, 2 white guys, 1 Hispanic guy, 2 mixed raced guys. All from built up areas, no country folk.
Age - All between 23 and 27.
Sexuality - All straight, 2 (at the most) have girlfriends. 1 has a baby mama who constantly rings the house to tell him how ****** she is that he doesn't give a **** about his kid.
Job: Running a gym.
Replacements: Maybe bring in a 2 super hot girls after 2 of the guys get kicked off for a bloody fist fight.
You're just being ridic now dude. lol the mods should come in anytime with the "back on topic" post.
Something needs to happen for ratings to go up, clearly the format as it is doesn't work anymore, we need a big shake up.
My personal opinion is that the show would do better if it did cater more to the African American demographic. Look at the ratings for Nia's premiere episode. Look at how the ratings changed with Bad Girls Club when they switched from the five whites and two blacks. I think if the show has a chance of surviving they need to switch it up a little.
I still can't believe they haven't cast an Asian male. Not saying that will boost ratings but like ... seriously?
It may draw in some viewers from the community if they exploit the fact that they are finally having an Asian Male in 21 years and if he delivers with a great personality. Articles will sure take notice too.
It would also be nice if TRW reached out to the transgender community again considering the huge increase in hate crimes and Transphobia since Brooklyn season.
A blonde (people love blondes, right?), a southern guy (gotta have one of those too), another ex-gay ******** and there you have your first five.
*shrugs*

Without a doubt. I know for a fact they take some RW applicants and put them on BGC (The Victor Twins, Sydney) but i' surprised they dont do the opposite too. RW needs that one catalyst to set things off. I think Hollywood was a perfect mix. it started with 3/7 roommates being black and ended with 4/7.
I guarantee it will be a good season
I highly doubt that. I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinion though. Personally, I wouldn't watch that season. Don't forget, this is MTV, not Vh1.

What truly separates VH1 from MTV? They both air Music and Reality Shows that cater to every race. Your comment was nonetheless very ignorant.
What they should try is an all male cast.

No gay guys
This is RW not Frat Pad (wink) or Fratertiny Row.
I believe someone said the RW viewers are mostly girls and gay guys.
Why would I as a straight girl wanna watch ******* bros running around talking about "dude, so that chick I banged last night was so hot!"? No thanks, I can see that on my college campus already.
I mean imagine if we had Adam (Vegas), Josh (DC), Trey (ST) Brandon (ST), Nate (SD), "He who shall not be named" (Hollywood) and Will (Hollywood) on the same season. Sounds more like a horror movie to me.
I think some of y'all are forgetting about College Hill, the BET version of The Real World.
MTV actually played College Hill a couple of times in the past. I believe it was the Virgin Island season.
Lord how the **** did I remember all of this?
There is a rumor that the next real world is in Miami.
Did they run out of cities? What are they repeating locations all the time lately? Personally, I would love to see Alaska. Or film outside of the US again: Berlin or Amsterdam would be fantastic.

Virgin Islands was actually the reason why the CH series went into overdrive ratings wise. Good stuff.

Are you kidding, girls up and down the country would be sliding off their sofas watch these 7 buff guys.
Guys will watch because they want to be them, girls would watch because... well I don't want to sound too crude.
They would just need to pick the right guys.
I feel like that seasons that centers around (straight) guy drama (Vegas II, Austin, Hollywood) do really well, whereas seasons where the girls are at each other throats every episode don't (Cancun, Sydney, Portland)
I can only speak for myself but I would never in a million years watch an all-male RW. I'd much sooner watch an all-female season. Not that I'd want either. It becomes less RW and more like other reality shows at that point IMO.

Haha pretty much how I feel. As a straight male, I definitely wouldn't want to watch an all-male cast. To be honest, and I'm not trying to knock on anyone's ideas or suggestions, but some of the suggestions seem to me like they would also be alienating part of the audience. It's gonna happen either way. The fact is that if it was an all-male cast or an all-black cast it would alienate viewers as well. If there was an all-black cast, I can already see the "If I wanted to watch this, I'd watch BET" comments coming. I don't agree with them nor do I think they're okay, but it'd happen.
I definitely agree that some of the casting leaves much to be desired, but I think it should be less about ethnicities and more about personalities.

The rumor stared here at vevmo. Rumors being what they are...

I feel you, mph922
Dustin Zito already did this, did he not? Such a idea would wreak of intolerable desperation. The show may be on a slippery slope, but it's not that slippery.
The comment was racist.
The rumor didnt start at vevmo. I personally posted about it first after looking at a blog post. It's a pretty big rumor in MIA apparently
This thread has gone completely off the rails. If we are going to talk about ridiculous hypothetical situations, then an all female version of The Real World would do better than an all male version. Just look at the ratings The Bachelor gets compared to The Bachelorette. There is a reason why you see more reality shows with an all female cast than with an all male cast.

The rules apply. I've giving you the opportunity to follow them.
The Miami rumor I'm referring to is at least 9 months old, perhaps older. I wasn't referring to your comment in the last few days.

I agree. The "all male" comment was stupid. Then again, most of the stuff ILRW says is just for ****s and giggles.
Nonetheless something needs to happen for the season to last until 30. I attended an open casting call Saturday and by the looks of it, 29 is definitely going to be a party/hookup kinda season. The questions on the app were about relationships whereas last season, I remember them asking about what's important to you, what you've overcome, etc.. just go to twitter and look at the people who are getting interviews, most of them seem like vapid idiots.
Referring to College Hill when we mention a majority African American cast to me doesn't make sense. College Hill was a all African American cast. The topic of adding more African Americans was brought up by the fact of what the ratings have shown for the last few seasons and the lack of an audience they have today. If a show isn't appealing to one audience it's obvious that it needs to be tweaked to appeal to another.
What truly separates VH1 from MTV? They both air Music and Reality Shows that cater to every race. Your comment was nonetheless very ignorant.
It may sound racist and/or ignorant, but it really is true. Think of all the shows on MTV right now (or in the recent past). Now think of who stars in these shows and who they cater too. Teen Mom, Awkward, Jersey Shore, Buckwild, etc.
Now look at Vh1... Basketball Wives, Love & Hip Hop, Single Ladies, La La's Full Court Life, etc.
Am I the only one seeing a trend?

No, the trend has been obvious for some time, and actually is something that VH1 execs have discussed at the "Up Fronts." Pointing out the obvious is hardly racist. In fact, it's intelligent. MTV has always tried to bridge the gap and meet the expectations of their audience. Unfortunately, that strategy may have worked elsewhere, but not for RW's ratings.
