So does everyone agree that everyone got equal airtime this episode? BMP obviously needs to go back to 7 roommates. Not only did I hear no whining this week but Josh's band wasn't that bad. The shot of them jamming out in th audience was kind of cheesy though.
I have to say that this was the BEST episode of the season. I loved Mike and Tanner together and I think it's Messed up that Tanner's parents acted the way they did. And as a gay man myself I've had people who where once cool with me turn on me in an instant once they found out I was gay so I can kinda relate to what Tanner is going though. And I know it's kinda messed up to say this but I really don't think Tanner's parents acutally love and/or support him because if they did they would put there feelings about Homosexuality on the back burner and realize that this is there son and they will love him REGARDLESS. Oh and Josh's little band was acutally listenable tonight. And I really liked how they had Mellisa Etheridge on the show. And the Breast Cancer thing was good Too. All in all this was a good episode and I really felt like it had an Old-School Real World vibe to it. Didn anyone catch the **** they should've shown? It was Decent.
This was definitely the best episode of Real World in quite a while. I did, however, find some parts unwatchable--the Tanner/Mike parts--only because it brought out some deeper issues inside of me...and it'd lead to me having one of my Erika moments.
I found it sort of weird how definitive the representitive was to only having women at the event for breast cancer. I really don't know much about the event but isn't brest cancer a form of cancer which a man can receive as well. Even if not couldn't they have been there if they wanted to show support for the cause.
Good episode. Great season.
That wasn't the finale.
Next week is the reunion so how was that not the finale!?
how was that not the finale!?
Um, because it wasn't. Next week the finale is at 10 and the reunion at 11.

On the other hand, I REALLY enjoyed this episode! It had so many good stuff in it, not useless drama.

YUMMMMM Pats :) I need to go get 1 right now! Anyone every have 1? They are the best things in the world.
This is kind of OT but when I was 14, my boyfriend dumped me because his parents found out I was black. I'm 21 now but this is just crazy. Tanner, you can come live with me!
I have a black girlfriend for over a year not and her dad freaked out at first and tried to actually beat me up, now he calls son :D I hate when people feel the need to change their lives just because of their race, sexuality, or gender. I just pray our generation don't go down this path. History tells us that discrimination is not good for our society as a whole, we need to change. This was my one of my favorite episodes of the real world. This saved the season for me. Power to the people :torch:
Now we have a bunch of straight looking guys being gay now a days. I'm straight, black, and will never cross over, but back to what RMD1 was talking about. I have a white girlfriend tho, I was a little concerned about what her parents would do and think, but everything is okay. Some parents freak out about their kids being gay becuz they think its not normal. Otherwise I'm bored of DC as a whole I liked Emily and Callie all the others seemed like they were liars and confused and fake a little.
Agreed that 7 cast members is much better. I do however, think the 1 hour format should stay. I get much more into it that way, and the seasons/challenges turn over quicker. Mike and Tanner's interactions were really touching and I hope Tanner's family watches this episode and sees how much affection there was between the two guys and how well they fit together. I also hope they see how they look like big jerks on national television and perhaps rethink their position of shame. With Mike and Tanner's situation, and then just Ty's simple comment about his ex-girlfriend and Josh's simple comment about his mom... and Etheridge saying that we are all brothers and sisters...wow, everything just tied together so well and I felt like the house was able to really relate to each other and understand and support each other. Even Andrew came through and learned about stereotyping gay men and gay couples. What a beautiful episode. I think the Real World has tried to push messages in the past, but usually really stretching it. Here I felt like it was a solid and genuine. My favorite ep ever. End note: When did Josh lose his tone deafness? He sounded great! But regardless of my newfound admiration of "Wickit Likwit (Philly accent)" WHY does Josh already have a gazillion Tshirts made before his band has even played one gig? Sheesh....
This was such a great episode, by far the best all season. It inspired me... I'm ******** and am not yet out to my family, not because they're not okay with it, but because I wasn't comfortable with the fact that I was more attracted to women than men most of the time. I dated a girl for seven months and hid everything about it from my family and even some of my friends who I didn't think were okay with it. Anyway back to the episode, Mike and Tanner were so cute. :) It's good to see that everyone in the house approved of the gay thing... There have been seasons in the past where people were homophobes.

Good luck when you find the strength to talk to them about it. :)

Like I mentioned, this episode made me realize that it's not bad to be the way that I am. I just wish everyone was understanding and not hateful. :weep:
This was actually an episode of Real World DC I would tell my friends to watch.. That's how well I think this one went lol Usually I'll just watch it by myself, but I might tell a few friends to watch this one (particularly those against Gay Marriage and/or Homosexuality) so they can see it from another perspective.
I loved this episode too. It was very moving. I think Mike is incredibly inspirational and is sending out a message everyone needs to hear. Some of the things he says sometimes are so touching and thought provoking. On another note... I loved seeing the cast going out and being active in the community. Doing things they feel strongly about and have deep passion for... and just chasing their dreams.

Seems like a sweet kid.

The only problem is if he wasn't gay he wouldn't of been casted at all...

The reality is that there are just a limited number of guy struggles out there--sexuality & substance abuse being the big ones--that one is likely to see on TV.
