I don't get it, poor poor Callie, she gets picked on by big bad Ty but...
I guess it isn't a big deal that he got spit in his face. I don't know, what Ty did just doesn't seem to be as bad as spitting on someone. At least to me.
But I'm lovin all of the cast except for Andrew. He's just not funny at all, and he's not even cute so i have no reason to like this guy. Josh seems boring but at least he sounds sexy and well... he IS sexy :)

Yea i can see that, and Ryan was one of my least favorites on that season so i guess i wouldn't like someone who's TRYING to be like someone i don't like. But it's only the 3rd episode, things may change.
Honestly, I'm tired of Emily trying too hard to show her "tough skinnedness" and excuse her lack of self esteem and respect for herself as being a "free bird". I understand that theory, but that does not mean you put yourself in a situation to be called a ***** by any random cute guy. She is seems very split mentally, and needs to go somewhere and quiet down a little. Maybe it's time for some counselling eh?

DC is not letting me down! Whew! Okay, like I do every week, I'll go through my thoughts on the cast after Ep. 3:
Andrew: Hardly in this episode, which I think was a little relieving to me. I needed a break, but am ready to see his humor again for Ep. 4.
Ashley: She drove me absolutely insane the first two episodes, but didn't upset me in this episode. She actually made me laugh when she commented on Ty and Emily. So, with that said, I liked Ashley this episode! Didn't think I'd come to that...but we'll see how I feel next week.
Callie: Love, love, love, love her. The most genuine cast member this season and possibly for a long time. Absolutely gorgeous. When we were watching the episode tonight and the whole weight issue came on, all my friends were like "she's not even fat. She's normal!" Love her.
Emily: I absolutely loved her the first two episodes, but she moved down a peg this episode. Like someone posted before, the whole "freebird" excuse is getting kind of old. Wasn't she the one getting upset with Ty for flirting with other girls at a bar last episode? But when Ty gets upset with her it's because he's jealous. Okay. Double standard there. I still like her though.
Erika: I learned more about her in one aftershow than I did in three episodes. I like her though and want to see more!
Josh: Do the names Baya and Derek ring a bell? Why cast an 8th roommate if you're never going to show them? Seriously?
Mike: Wasn't on this episode much, but I loved him the first two episodes so that hasn't changed. I think I'll like him more next week too.
Ty: My liking for him fluctuates. The previews for Ep. 3 definitely made him look worse than the actual episode did when it came to the whole Emily thing. Had he not made that comment towards Callie I would have had nothing bad to say about him this week. He needs to filter what he says. He likes to say he's being honest and prides himself for saying what's on his mind...so he thinks it's ****** to say stuff like that. Reality check, it's not. Grow up.
alright episode nothing too big, i like Emily she is beautiful and my favorite. Ty's comment on Callie was rude, if you dont have nothing nice to say dont say it at all. Callie is fine too she shouldn't being getting down.

Ty: My liking for him fluctuates. The previews for Ep. 3 definitely made him look worse than the actual episode did when it came to the whole Emily thing.
I do agree. It wasn't pretty, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the preview suggested. Somewhat reminds me of that infamous preview MTV ran with Tyrie and The Real World Denver. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the very same editor pulling the same cheap ploy...
Josh: Do the names Baya and Derek ring a bell? Why cast an 8th roommate if you're never going to show them? Seriously?
Once again I agree, but clearly they [MTV] enjoy the latitude that it gives them. Kind of like having a spare battery around when you need it. You can pop it in a (literary?) device with a handful of almost dead ones and it makes the entire unit run better.
So, with that said, I liked Ashley this episode! Didn't think I'd come to that...but we'll see how I feel next week.
I like Ashley in every episode. She has an interesting personality and I think it just takes some people some time to get used to it. That being said, next week should be interesting.
Actually, I like all the cast members through three episodes which I think is a first. Sure, Ty is "at the bottom of the class" as I stated earlier, but I see plenty of redeeming qualities and it was good to see him express himself (under fire mind you) on the Aftershow. It is just that he has been in the spotlight these last few episodes, so we got to see the blemishes.
The truth is, we have only seen a small sample of what these cast members bring to the table and I am positive there will be plenty not to like in the near future. That is what Reality TV is all about, right? You need to have the people you love and the people you "hate" in order to have an effective divisiveness to cultivate personal connection to the characters.
I think anyone who appears on MTV or VH1 Needs counseling
Ditto...
But they may have not needed it prior to the experience.
I like this season alot more than i thought i was going to so far. My feelings towards some of the roomates changes every week, and that is a good thing because it keeps it interesting.
Ty:The whole situation with emily is entertaining. I was starting to like him alot more until the thing he said about Callie.
Emily: Lost some respect for her when she spit on TY and the whole"freebird" thing is getting a bit old.
Callie: Really like her. She is a very ginuine person. And she is beautiful.
Mike: wasnt shown much last night, but he is my favorite guy in the house so far.
Andrew: wasnt shown much either, so he didnt really annoy me last night.
Ashley: I know alot of people dont like her but i do. She has a very strong personality and says what is on her mind.
Erika- havent seen much of her all season. I do like her from what i have seen and would like to see more of her.
Josh- the same as Erika.
This episode so far seemed definately the most boring, and to some extent the show lost allot of steam in my books. I don't know if it's because Emily is just not that entertaining or that here and Ty interactions aren't that entertaining. All I know is the next episode should have way more Andrew and Mike as so far they are easily the most entertaining and this episode they were relegated to background.
This episode was all right... I'm getting sick of seeing Emily and Ty getting the majority of the airtime. I'm hoping that we get to see Erika and Josh sometime soon, especially Josh since he's hardly said anything the entire season.
I'm not a 100 perscent positive but it seems like they will set it up that Josh will get one episode focused around him and the rest will probably be him in the background like the last 3 episodes. Though I think Josh is probably really entertaining, he seems to cause little to no conflict.

I agree I really don't care about Ty and Emily's crap can we see Josh and Erika now?
Hey Vevmo :) its been a minute!
Andrew is trying to be [strike]Rian[/strike] RYAN from Brooklyn too much it's not working but him and Callie would make a good couple
Andrew isn't "TRYING" to be anyone. Anybody who knows him personally will tell you that he is never anything other than genuinely individual.
I think everyone just likes to compare cast members to previous ones and find similarities. Its highly irritating to me that people go through and do these match ups (i.e. Emily=Baya, Andrew=Ryan).
They are all individuals. Certainly there are some similar characteristics, but don't forget that editing plays a big role in the show. Its used to highlight specific things about each and create 'characters' that the viewers can identify with and a story/plot in order to keep it interesting...

I don't try and find similarities unless they're blatantly obvious. To me, Andrew looks nothing like Ryan but he jokes around a lot. His humor reminds me a lot of Ryan's.
Emily looks like Baya, but has already gotten more airtime in the three episodes of DC than Baya got all season in Brooklyn.
People compare newer cast members to older ones so often because The Real World has been known for its stereotypical casts over the years. The show is in its 23rd season and has been kind of stereotypical for many, many seasons/years now, so making comparisons at this point particularly is just very normal, I feel. I think for Ty, Emily, Ashley, and Callie, people are saying they sort of look like Alton, Baya, Johanna, and Shauvon, but so far their personalities don't seem to be the same. As Lamp Chop said, Andrew is the humorous one on this season, like Ryan (and like Chet, Bronne, and Issac) was. For the person saying he's trying to be like Ryan, perhaps that isn't fair because that really could be Andrew's personality. But I can see how they could think Andrew is kind of like Ryan. I think some comparisons are made a bit early (like after seeing a picture of someone, if people are trying to compare personalities) or are a bit snap, but comparisons are understandable to me.
Let me get this out of the way right now...Emily and Baya are NOTHING alike. Nor is Baya in anyway similar to Erika...
As for Andrew, as I said in another thread, he is the stereotypical joker. All similarities end there to those being mentioned (in my opinion.)
i think it's all an act with Ty. I'm not buying it. I think he told the Real World producers that he would stir things up if they cast him and that's what he was trying to do. He's playing a role.
Agreed! I've seen the episode a couple of times and you can kinda see it in his face after he's been scolded by Emily. When he says he said it regardless of 'should he have'. I think he's a tool nonetheless but he's definitely trying for drama, even with Emily.
Second, as if people are writing "well, to be fair, she isn't the right size...", or "he was speaking the truth". Did she ever imply that she was interested in being in the magazine? NO. She only made a comment about her blonde hair, then he goes for the lowest blow possible by saying she's not skinny enough?
If one of the girls wasn't pretty, would he say "you're not pretty enough"? Probably not. It's the same thing, he was making an unnecessary rude comment.
For those of you saying she's insecure/cry baby, whatever. I know exactly how she feels, I am a size 2 and I have major body image issues and I cry when someone calls me curvy. When you deal with body issues, it's a very sensitive area and whether comments are positive or negative, it makes a serious impact. How do you think you would feel if everyone is having a casual conversation, all the girls are talking about doing playboy and then all of a sudden YOU are the only one singled out and told that NO you CANNOT because of your weight. Just listening to his tone of voice when he says that makes me cringe. For the record, his apology sucked.
Lastly (rant almost over), I am getting so sick of the Ty and Emily show. Josh seems like a cutie from his 2 seconds of air time and we've barely seen him or Erika. Hopefully we get something different next week!
Ok so far this cast just seems so random, like the way they interact with each other is really wierd. It really strange how people just disappear and then reappear.I really hope they show less of Ty and Emily and show more of Josh and Callie. This season just random to me.It really wierd that Ty keeps saying he a realist but I really don't think he knows what a real realist is.......I love how Emily just took over for Callie when it was her problem to deal with and also why do only a few castmembers leave the house.

I am sure some of it is the editing. Some of it IMO is that the RW houses of recent seasons are not set up well in the since that there is no normal den or table that seems to seat everybody where everybody can just chill as a group. they seem designed more to create corners and little places that less than the whole group can use to talk smack about each other. Who knows about the leaving the house thing. Dupont Circle area always seemed to me to be one of those places where you are either taking your life in your hands crossing the street or you are in a part where there is NOTHING going on whatsoever. I did think I saw a glimpse of the steps from The Exorcist in on of the episodes which is my favorite bizarre place to go in Georgetown but I wasn't sure as flashed by so quick on the screen.
Watching this online now... but I swear if the Aftershow is about the "epidemic of female eating disorders," my head is going to explode.
Poor Callie, she can't be in Playboy... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Doesn't mean TY isn't rude... but seriously...
Watching this online now... but I swear if the Aftershow is about the "epidemic of female eating disorders," my head is going to explode.
Because, God forbid 4 young women from MTV can discuss something other than fighting and hooking up? Not to mention it is a great topic for their audience to hear. I watched the Real World as a young teen (13, 14, etc) and millions still do today. What we got was a dynamic group of women talking about something that is important and often brushed under the rug, and I don't think that is a bad thing.
Poor Callie, she can't be in Playboy... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
That wasn't the point at all, it was that he would even say something like that, especially in front of everyone. He might not have known about Callie's deep-rooted body/confidence issues, but from what we learned throughout the episode most, if not ALL girls, have an issue with it in some form or another. So, Ty should have known not to say something like that to a lady, period.
Does anyone know who @andrealeighDC is.....a Possible Replacement or just a friend? can someone clarify for me???
Andrew's girlfriend.
I wish girls like Callie could understand that there are TONS and TONS of us girls out there that would LOOOOOOVE to be her size. Or even have a pants size in the single digits. I try to tell myself that about girls bigger than me, but I think it's hard to realize that about yourself sometimes.
Hopefully the older she gets the more comfortable she'll get with not being a size 2... Especially when she wants to have a baby. :) Those extra hips will come in handy.
And by "extra" I mean normal!
I"m watching this as I comment. It just amazes me that someone Callie's size would be considered the "bigger" girl in the house. It brings me back to my sorority days..... Craziness
On a side note, I had a friend who's mom was a personal trainer. She always talked about how her mom would call her fat and make her feel bad about not working out like a crazy person. It wasn't until she lost weight that it seemed like her mom accepted her more on the outside.

I think with the Ryan-Andrew thing, it is more that Andrew has a lot of the same mannerisms as Ryan when he is being silly; he has that same Muppet voice;and his hair is very much like Ryan's was during the aftershows after the series had taped. I don't think that they look alike in their facial features. I don't see any comparison between Emily and Baya in anyway.
