Here's the thing: A lot of behind the scenes info gets tossed around here on Vevmo. HOWEVER, that still shouldn't negate the fact that people are going to make up their minds based on what they see on TV. There is such a massive body of evidence regarding the manipulation of reality shows that I lose patience with people who insist on wearing blinders when there are those who spend hours uncovering what happens that is not shown. Six or seven years ago people who believed blindly in what they saw on TV didn't know things might not be as presented. Today, such a point of view, when presented with factual information by knowledgeable people, offers little rationalization.

And that all makes a lot of sense, it does, but not everyone puts hours and hours of time into internet surfing just to find out what really happened in bad reality shows lol I dont think we can claim that we are the majority! (Actually, I tend to hide the fact that I do so! lol) But yes, I suppose today all viewers [I]should[/I] know better...but I wouldn't put money down saying that they do.

I loved Paula on Key West. Her ans Svet were my favorite. Especially the season finale where she read her "My Strangers" poem. It was beautifully written. I liked her on the Duel too, then she got a big head.
Now I can't stand her.

Although I agree with V1, in yadudeirock's defense, it is difficult for us with no insider information outside of Vevmo to figure out exactly which parts are manipulated. Sometimes it turns out that what is presented is true and sometimes (or most times) its not. But telling the difference is the hard part.

If I relied on Internet surfing for any information I bring here, I might post once or twice a year. I prefer live sources who often have their own agenda. I can't recall a single spoiler for The Island that was the result of internet sleuthing of other than the collection of crew information. Except for one crew name that we revealed largely for comedic purposes in the Duel II thread, because the person has also once won a reality show, we have not revealed the crew. While we may have found them on the internet, that is not how they are exploited.
BTW, in my opinion, the definition of a bad reality show is one that doesn't make money, but Vision 1 does this as a business so our perspectives are likely to be different.
I'm really hoping Carlos does not do another reunion. Although he knew the cast members names, he felt so scripted to the point where his "jokes" sounded awful because he had never read them before hand. BMP needs to find some entirely new host all around. No more TJ, no more Carlos, and no more of the Hollywood reunion host (Lindsey i think).

Yeah, I get it...you know people so the info comes from there and that's cool. I didn't mean to imply that you spent time on the net checking into things...but most people don't is all I'm saying. So even if they have a general understanding that reality shows are edited for storylines, they still wouldn't have the knowledge that a friend of a ton of cast members would have and we can't possibly hold that against them.

From what I have gathered, they started the season at 10 (in the youth cable demo) and ended it at 10 (with a lot of suckage in between.)
The thing is, we only get to see the numbers if they are in the top 10, so I can't say if they were 11th or 99th in those weeks in the heart of the season.

yeah, it's always so puzzling to me how hard it is to find the cable ratings. i used to work at viacom and they'd e-mail ratings updates throughout the day, so i miss that.
Didn't they finished dead last on the top ten of ratings....meaning 10th place can't believe The Hills rating was so way much higher than a lot of the shows...

One must keep in consideration that Real World and the Challenges for many years were consistently in the top five and often in first or second place depending the cast.

thanks for the link! and yeah, i mean obviously the landscape of television is different than it was even 3 or 4 years ago and i think the excitement about the challenges has definitely dwindled. probably why they keep trying new things (the island being a prime example)...it'll be interesting to see what happens after this new challenge. will they continue in the same format of shows they've been doing or try something new? or just get rid of the idea all together because they have so many spin-offs from the hills that there isn't time for it.
