Grey's Ep. 515: Before and After
Tonight! It's the EPIC. CROSSOVER. EVENT. OF. THE. SEASON!!!! Or so they say!
Addison, Naomi and Sam rush the ailing Archer to Seattle Grace and reunite with old friends Derek and Mark to help save his life; meanwhile, Izzie employs her fellow doctors in a medical game designed to help teach the interns, and Owen runs into a significant someone from his past.
and then
As Archer recoups from surgery, Derek has Addison work with his pregnant neuro patient; after Sam suffers a sudden asthma attack, Bailey and Naomi work together to find the root cause of Sam's sudden attack; and at Oceanside Wellness, Cooper, Violet and Pete work together to treat a mother suffering from postpartum depression.
We'll see if this is all it's cracked up to be! :)
This better be and epic cross-over event or I'm going to do an epic cross-off my schedule of this show, lol. ;)

I am not a happy camper. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something. I go to turn on Grey's and instead of being outraged by more Denny or crazy plot twists, it is a red screen that says: Sorry for the interruption. There is no need to call us. We are aware that this TV station is temporarily unavailable and we will have this channel back as quickly as possible. ...an entire hour of that and no Grey's Anatomy. Sigh... I guess I'll wait for the verdict from you guys and watch it on the net tomorrow if it is any good.

Awww...so far this is making me realize how much I miss Addison!
Wow, that really sucks B! Why do you still live there? (I know why you do) I thought this classified as a major crossover event. Especially with the inclusion of Sam and Naomi. You all know that I wasn't a watcher until last season...anyway I bought that they were all long-time friends. They had great chemistry together. Also, Sam interacted with Miranda. He told her that he didn't think she would make a good pediatric surgeon because of her demeanor. So they had that battle tension. As for the plot that didn't really have to do with the crossover.... We meet the girl that Owen was running away from last episode. Turns out she is his ex-fiance that he dumped in an email when he was in Iraq. Her dad was in the hospital with pancreatic cancer (or was it colon?). Of course this caused tension with Christina. She was upset that he could be the type of person to dump someone in an email and not tell her (Christina about said ex-fiance) and he hasn't even told his own mother that he is back from Iraq. He explains to her that it is hard to face the people that love him and for them to look at him and know that he is not the person they loved anymore. He begs Christina to understand and that she knows the real him and he doesn't have to pretend with her. (the scene panned out without letting the audience know if Christina was going to walk away or kiss him) Izzy (sans Denny) is starting to show symptoms of her mysterious illness and has Alex a bit concerned. Anyway her bit this episode was to boost up morale of the med students (or are they interns?) She had them go on a scavenger like hunt...anyway in the midst of all this George (who is like a referee) discovers that Sadie doesn't know wtf she is doing. He offers her some help to study and stuff and she blows him off. She takes off and he yells after her that she is going to hurt someone if isn't upfront about it. Soon after George tells Meredith his concerns and out comes Sadie. She just quit the program. It comes out that Sadie BS'd her way into the program with hopes that Mer would just pull her through. It doesn't end well and Sadie is gone. Bacchus, were you able to see Private Practice? If not do you want a recap for that as well?

Great job Kathleen!!
Yeah Kat great recap! I don't normally watch PP BUT I do want to know what happened to each of the 3 patients (pregnant lady, Asher, and Sam) do you mind doing a quick recap for me?
Sure no problem. I'll do it in the PP thread. :D
Sure no problem. I'll do it in the PP thread. :D
thank you sooo much!
Bacchus, were you able to see Private Practice? If not do you want a recap for that as well?
Only a few years ago I wouldn't have been able to do this - but I just sat down and watched both hours over the net in HD. ;) Still, I appreciate both recaps (I went over and read the PP one as well.) I'll put all my thoughts here. The first hour felt somewhat mailed in to me. I do agree that there was a chemistry between the casts and that it was somewhat believable they were friends in the past, however I tend to cringe at the off the wall corny stuff (i.e. that stupid song) which Sonda likes to weave into the storyline to try and create comradeship. I thought the game with Izzy and George was fun (probably the most entertaining part of the show for me) and was just hoping that Alex would finally take some sort of decisive action from what he was seeing from Izzy during the course of events. Sadly, from his little speech in the second hour it is clear that although he sees a dark cloud moving in he doesn't see that it is a medical condition. I thought all the Alex scenes were great. His character has come far since the mid point last season and I like the direction things are heading. Sam was fun as usual and although his asthma was the cause of him passing out, it is clear to me that Archer will soon fall to the wayside and Sam will make a run at Namoi again before this season comes to a conclusion. On the Private Practice side, the episode felt thin (because it was really more a Grey's continuation with a touch of PP) but we did get some compelling interaction between Violette, Pete, Charlotte and Cooper. Obviously the entire situation with the mother afflicted with manic depression was an allegory to the situations between the cast of characters. I think in the end Pete and Charlotte are on the right side of the argument. Violette should allow Pete to be a part of the babies life if he choses and Pete's interactions with Violette cross every line in the book. I didn't catch the preview for next week, but it would seem that the crossover event will continue as the patient was having some sort of neurological problem and Addison was there - so I have to assume she will remain in Seattle for another week. P.s. Did I miss the Addision, Derek kiss? I swear they teased that 50 times a day for the last week...

I thought it was a great coule episodes. The Izzie game was pretty cool and Hey! George was there! And he talked! And did stuff! I'm glad he turned Sadie in to the cheif. I was sick of her anyway. Bye! I agree Bacc that I did like to see the group together (Addie, Derek, Sam, etc.) but the song thing was a little overdone. We get it. Derek played guitar. He was romantic. Hey in a lot of ways he still is! I did realize how I miss Adisson's character on Grey's. Her rapport w/ Callie was fun to watch and I just think she's pretty funny. I missed the previews for next week too but I hope it's good! And Kathleen you did a great job recapping both as I tend to forget so much by the next morning! :)
P.s. Did I miss the Addision, Derek kiss? I swear they teased that 50 times a day for the last week...
No kiss. I read somewhere a few days ago that Shonda just put that in the previews to trip people out. She thinks she's funny...
I thought it was a great coule episodes.
Umm, I wouldn't use the word, "great" but rather say it was the first episode in a few weeks that I was able to get through without fast forwarding (um...well because I couldn't! lol)
Hey in a lot of ways he still is!
Yes, in that 1% of the time he isn't being a total *********. Mark and Derrek have totally swapped roles in the show in my opinion.
I did realize how I miss Adisson's character on Grey's. Writers, keep up the good work!
Yes, in that 1% of the time he isn't being a total *********. Mark and Derrek have totally swapped roles in the show in my opinion.
Eh...I definately agree that Mark is much more sweet and likeable lately, but I wouldn't compare Derrek to the old him!
Eh...I definately agree that Mark is much more sweet and likeable lately, but I wouldn't compare Derrek to the old him!
Come on! He is always whining in that dramatic tone like the world is going to end. That dude needs to have Mer write him a prescription for Lorapam...
