Grey's Ep 513: Stairway to Heaven
Tonight!
AS TIME RUNS OUT FOR BAILEY'S YOUNG PATIENT, MEREDITH FIGHTS TO GRANT A DEATH ROW INMATE'S WISH TO DONATE HIS ORGANS TO THE BOY, ON ABC'S "GREY'S ANATOMY" Guest Starring Eric Stoltz ("Pulp Fiction," "Mask") and Jessica Capshaw ("The Practice") "Stairway to Heaven" Bailey grows desperate as a patient's condition becomes more and more dire. Everyone in the hospital is stepping up to try to find the boy a new organ donor, including Meredith, who considers a death row patient's wish to die before execution. Meanwhile, an injury leaves Mark in a compromising position in the OR and Cristina awkwardly avoids Owen.
I don't know if anyone here reads spoilers elsewhere, but I can tell you this much about Mark's "injury":
It happened while he was having sex!!

So I've heard ;)
So I've heard ;)
I had to put it out there...just in case, LOL.
I know that, "EVERYONE WILL BE TALKING ABOUT THIS EPISODE" as the gazillion commercials this week have said, but will we be saying good things? Guess I am going to find out right now...
Alright, I'll give credit where credit is due - I felt that we were getting somewhere this week and think this was easily the best episode of the season thus far. Sadly I have become somewhat cynical toward the series, so it makes it hard to appreciate things when the going gets good. The Good

The Izzy & Denny story was actually valid this week and pulled some heart strings. Now that she has banished Denny to heaven or hell I look forward to seeing what happens. I hope Alex is there for her in a big way.
Chandra Wilson was on her Emmy nod game, putting up a great performance. The culmination of the Jackson story was touching and I [strike]even misted up a little bit[/strike] was sentimental when Bailey said it was time to say goodbye...
The story between Owen and Yang is heating up and there is some chemistry there, albeit awkward chemistry at times.
Eric Stoltz's compelling performance.
Mark and Callie. Awwww! How cute at the end! (Oh, I am not going to talk about the other thing which you gals might find funny. IT WAS NOT!)
The Bad

Ellen Pompeo. I didn't buy her tearful serenade at the end. I don't think she can act.
The Izzy & Denny arc was way overplayed. If he had showed up last week and then we saw this episode it would have worked just as well and saved the fans much frustration.
That blonde chick who is leaving.
Derek and the operating room theater. I am not sure what happened along the way, but I am starting to dislike Derek almost as much as I dislike Mer.
The Ugly

I swear I spotted George this week. I swear! Is he like the "Observer" in Fringe?

Mark and Callie. Awwww! How cute at the end! (Oh, I am not going to talk about the other thing which you gals might find funny. IT WAS NOT!)
I think you mean Mark and Lexie at the end? Yes, it was pretty sweet when she got in bed and was stroking his hair. I think he liked it too. ;) Oh, and as much as I don't care for Sadie, props to her for covering Lexie's behind when the other interns started in on her. ITA about Chandra Wilson. She has always been a bright spot (to me) on this series. Woman can ACT!! Her scenes made me tear up too...
The Bad

Ellen Pompeo. If he had showed up last week and then we saw this episode it would have worked just as well and saved the fans much frustration.

I couldn't agree more on the Denny/Izzie front. If all these last months of that crap with them were just thrown into one episode, it would have been MUCH more tolerable. (And seriously, why, WHY could he not tell her from the beginning what it was all about?? Is that some sort of rule of the afterlife?) I actually liked Ellen Pompeo's portrayal at the end. I really thought she did a great job of acting sad and affected. I don't know, it just reminded me of how I act/look when I'm about to just lose it and I can't catch my breath. Maybe it's a girl thing-maybe it's a me thing, I dunno. Bacc, you and I shall always disagree about Meredith I think! George- I saw him too! We should totally make a game out of this, a la "Where's Waldo", except we'll call it "There's George!". And, just for the hell of it, I just may take a shot every time he opens his mouth. I really like Cristina and Owen too. A little awkward, but mostly sweet. I think they are good for each other. A little brooding with a sense of humor, albeit dry sometimes. I also thought it was REALLY sweet of Derek to be there for Meredith at the end despite their polar disagreements on the subject. And that he took her to make up with Cristina....he was right on the money when he said "When I propose to her she's going to need someone to freak out to." So true, and really nice of him to realize that. This ep definitely makes me *hope* the rest of this season is on the up and up. Two more weeks until the next one.....what in the world is going on next Thursday?

As for Ellen, I can't take her seriously ever since I saw her real personality on punk'd. I've told you this. ;)
This ep definately makes me *hope* the rest of this season is on the up and up. Can't wait.
I'm a little leery of the crossover only because: a) I've never really watched Private Practice. b) I kind of blame PP for Grey's sucking, because it takes too much of Shonda's time. (ok so that may be unfounded but I don't care.) :girl_mad: But I do love Kate Walsh, so it will be refreshing to see her back at Seattle Grace.
I've never really watched Private Practice.
Which surprises me as it seems like your kind of show. I've been enjoying it more than Grey's thus far this season.
Which surprises me as it seems like your kind of show. I thought it was just a stunt and wouldn't last. Guess I'm wrong, so maybe I should swallow my bitterness and just watch sometime. Maybe I will since it's on after Grey's now and involves to activity other than not turning the channel ;) Oh! And, the guy Paul Edelstein that's in it, played a MAJOR bad guy on Prison Break a few seasons back so when I see him I can't help but hate him. LoL I know...silly.
*shudder* Seriously he was SO bad on PB. He was a FBI agent gone wrong, and lets just say he killed a lot of innocent people in cold blood. And I actually haven't watched it the last 2 seasons but IIRC when he did leave the show his character did it honorably. (Possibly sacrificing himself to make up for wrong doings.) I think....something like that. Either way, I'll get over it the same way I got over my fear of Tim Curry as IT. :fear: ETA-It must speak volumes of his acting ability if he can pull of two such different characters!
After watching last night's episode on abc.com, I am reminded on why I'm so lucky to have a DVR...it took FOREVER! For some reason it didn't record. I blame it on my roommates. OPD, Tim Curry will always be kinda creepy. I don't know what it is about him.
OPD, Tim Curry will always be kinda creepy. I don't know what it is about him.
ummm, Tim curry played IT??? oh great, that is going to bring back some deep rooted fears that I have supressed. I still can't walk past a storm drain, I have to move to the other side of the road. As for Grey's, I caught up on the last 2 epy's last night and was really impressed. I don't like Mer (and not for the same reasons as Bacchus...I loved EP on Punk'd!) but I did understand where she was coming from sympathizing with the devil. I am glad Denny is gone...I'll take my JDM on watchmen as well OPD. Sadie redeemed herself in my eyes a bit in this epy as well. The broken ***** was no laughing matter...I thought it would be comical and it was a bit...but it was more messed up than anything else.
