Grey's Ep 512: Sympathy for the Devil
Tonight!
In tonight's episode of Grey's Anatomy, the death row inmate at Seattle Grace, William Dunn (Eric Stoltz) makes an odd offer that the staff struggles to come to grips with. Elsewhere, Derek's mother, Carolyn, makes a surprise visit to Seattle and meets Meredith for the very first time, while Mark tries to conceal his relationship with Lexie, and Owen and Cristina try to go on their first date.
Derek's mother will be played by Tyne Daly. We shall see.

Anybody? Anybody?? Ok here's my take: Per my usual rant of the week...Denny needs to go. I liked it for a minute, but now it's creepy. At least Izzie, um, kind of broke up with him. (Only for him to reappear AGAIN). Note to Shonda Rhimes: Please don't ruin my love for Jeffrey Dean Morgan....I am so looking forward to seeing him in the Watchmen, and I don't want to have to think about these damn hoops you made him jump through to hold on to your Denny character. That is all. The rest of the episode really wasn't much of a disappointment to me as it has been. I think Eric Stoltz is doing a great job as the convict (who I shall refer to as "convict" because I don't remember the character's name). I found myself almost feeling sorry for him when he told the story about being abused as a child, and was quickly chilled when his only response after these type of comments was "Whatever helps you sleep at night". He really comes across as the sociopath I think we are to believe he is. *shiver* I am torn with this storyline, because I understand both sides (Mer vs. Der). I can imagine Derek's hatred for someone that takes a human life at random (especially when it's so close to home for him). And Mer, just a sympathy for anyone you see who is suffering and has nothing (literally) to look forward to. I think her move at the end was pretty brilliant, if ONLY because it's what she had to do to get the organs to the boy. But I'll say this: the end scene, where he was slamming his exposed brain matter against the headboard...almost made me lose my spaghetti dinner from earlier that night. Yikes! Looking forward to seeing how this particular story plays out next week. Derek's Mom: Love her. Sometimes it's nice to have a real mother figure around to be blunt with these other adults that well, act like children most of the time. I like that she liked and accepted Meredith, even after her revalation of being "dark and twisted". It's great that she gave Derek that ring at the end, and also gave him permission to stop being angry about his father's murder. I also loved her rapport with Mark. She obviously still sees the little boy that ran around with Derek all their life, and knows what he wants and deserves out of life. And it seems as though she approves of "Little Grey" as well. Awwww, Tyne Daly, bring her back. I'm still liking where they are going with Alex. He wants to take her to Iowa!! To see corn!! AND meet his mother. Yea! Now just don't eff this up Izzie. I also really love that we are finally getting to know about Sgt Major ******. It's nice to see he and Christina's interactions. To me, they are both people that have deep emotional wounds from the past (his from war, hers from Burke the jerk). I thought him showing up drunk for the date was pretty ednearing, with him saying "I know you deserve better than this, I'll make it up to you." She clearly didn't think it was too cute at first, but when she got in the shower with him to comfort him after his amazing story, it was very touching. Christina deserves this. Christina needs this. Next week: WILL the boy get his organs? WILL he live? WILL Der propose to Mer? WILL Owen and Christina get their date? WILL Izzie finally get rid of Denny's ghost? and WILL Sadie finally leave??

Oh man it's come to this? No one has anything to say? :(
I love Grey's. Denny needs to go, the story is stupid. Meridith's "gay" friend is leaving. I wish they would stop this stuff. I mean if you don't want a character "gay" on the show then don't write it.
If anyone who enjoys this storyline is looking for a good read, one of my favorite authors, Jodi Picoult, wrote a book last year called Change of Heart. It's a very similar story and well written- about a man on death row who wants to donate his heart to the little sister of the girl he murdered. It was a good book and a much more detailed and drawn out version of this storyline.

Thanks needsalife...that sounds neat. :)
Um...I watched episode 2 last night. It was a totally different show and Mer actually was kind of cute (younger, thinner and less "pock marked.") There was also a quirkiness to the show that is totally gone. But, ya, I don't really have anything to add about last week's episode. I am waiting for them to get to the point as I struggle week to week to get through the episodes.
Sneak Peak from next week: YouTube - Grey's Anatomy Sneak Peek - Season 5 Episode 13 : Stairway to Heaven p.s. Back to the first season - I think I liked the title sequence better as well.
