Friday the 13th [Remake]
The Comic Con convention was held this weekend, and yesterday, cast and crew from the Friday the 13th remake was there. They revealed the teaser poster, and a 'teaser trailer'. It's not the best quality but better than nothing...check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7y-Vulw5Mk I (being a huge horror buff) am personally reallyyyy looking forward to seeing this. I think it looks good, and am going to give it a chance.
I love horror movies and I loved these old slasher films growing up. BUT I am feeling wary because I have no idea how a remake will go. I will definitely give it a chance and it does look good but only time will tell.
Well as much as I am opposed to remakes of my favorite classics I did enjoy the job Bay, Platinum Dunes and Nispel job did on the Texas Chainsaw remake - so I'll give this one a try.

me too. thanks, LTR. Does anybody know the name of the characters being killed in the begininng? I dont feel like going to imdb, right now.
Does anybody know the name of the characters being killed in the begininng? Her character as well as her boyfriend, Mike and a few other minor characters are at Camp Crystal Lake in the beginning of the movie. Where they are all killed. Jason kidnaps Whitney and hold her hostage. So that's where Clay (Jared Padalecki) comes in, he plays her brother, and is searching for her. In the mean time, a whole batch of new kids come in as counselers, including Danielle Pannebaker and Aaron Yoo, as well as numerous others. The rest of the movie takes place around the new group of kids.
thanks for the clarification. i was NOT about to go to the boards on IMDB. I knew most of it but thanks for simplifying it for me. So Mike is he black? I can't tell. I also heard they are trying to make us sympathetic to Jason.

And I haven't heard anything about them wanting us to feel sympathetic towards Jason, I don't think so.

I read that on IMDB so if I'm wrong forgive me. I hope not. They already did that with MM last year and failed. MM is really scary and they made him a punk, tbh. Also, Jason's mom is in this one. All in all I'm really digging the new actor playing Jason. Him, Ken and KK are HBIC. lol.
Oh please no, don't try to make us feel bad for jason. Thats exactly what i hated about the new halloween. Too much of michael's childhood. ZzzzzZZZZzz. I want killings please!
This one is actually shaping up to be very good. I know a lot about it from the biggest horror site Bloody-Disgusting. ZGo there for lots more information. Jason in this movie is supposed to be like no other. He is back to running again and isn't supernatural. They feel they need to bring it back to reality. He is also smarter. No more popping up from no where and killing them. The counselors set themselves up for their own death.

Mean without all that he is just a crazy serial killer running around. lol
cant wait. at first, i was mad they were remaking this. just because the Halloween remake did so well (well, by horror standards at least) doesnt mean Friday and Nightmare also need to be remade i mean...im not TOTALLY happy about this, but you bet your *** i'll go see it but a BLOND HAIRED JASON???? weird, dude. I've got the only released pic up on my blog along with a link to a videogum article about Friday here.
I am actually glad they are making Jason a bit more realistic. Not too real, but just enough so that you ca enjoy watching it. I am a horror junkie and the first movie was great after that the movies got worse and worse. I think it was because the first was much more realistic. Jason got brutalized in all the movies, but nothing affected him. Finally, making him defeatable is much more entertaining because you know the chances of the counselors living are much better and that the fighting will be much more realisitc.
what bothers me about the halloween, friday, and nightmare remakes is that the stories aren't even completed yet! Halloween was, until they destroyed it with Resurrection......Freddy is dead....kind of (he winked at the end of F vs J, and they were, at one time, thinking about another one) and Jason is still alive these characters' storylines arent even finished and we're REMAKING them already????? i dont get it.
The problem with remakes is they often wonder off the path trying to "update" the story and modernize the characters. Sometimes they work out and are good movies but still many others have feel flat. I honestly hope this one is good but I am wary.

Me being a huge horror junkie, believes that remakes are fine, but people begin to compare it to the original. They are seperate movies. And then when they venture off and bring in new ideas to the remake, people complain that it is nothing like the original. But then they get knocked off for sticking to the original movie. This movie looks good and didn't have any problems so I expect a good movie.

Either its too far from the original, or too similar. meh. Which brings me back to the "why bother remaking" point. Which brings me back to the "why fight the remakes" point. BLAHHH its a circle moot discussion almost LOL
Chances are if you are a fan of the series you will watch the re-make but hold it to high standards...which are usually impossible to live up too. Can anyone name a remake that actually did better than the original?

I am one of the only horror junkies that goes into a remake pretending I have never seen the first so I can actually enjoy the movie. The first Friday the 13th was good, maybe great, but not really. It is only considered to be so huge due to its huge popularity around the world. The first movie was the only one that truly worked. After that, they kept producing ********* movies that did nothing, but become more unrealistic as it went on. I am looking forward to this remake and by the sound of it, it looks much better than the first original.
I have never seen The Thing (that I can recall)...I am going to have to check it out
I have never seen The Thing (that I can recall)...I am going to have to check it out
The original is from the 50's, but the reamke is from 1982. Stars a young Kurt Russel. About the alien that can shapeshift. But with this remake, what I think they managed to do was find a great group, of well known youngsters.
I think people want the remakes to hold the essence of the original and the character involved but make it fresh too and different from the original while retaining the base of it. I have watched remakes that are very good but some, just like sequels, can flop and not be that good or be good but people are turned of by it being a remake.

People beg for remakes, but then when it is going to happen, they realize that the first was good enough and what else could they possibly do. Either you see a fresh take on something classic, or you let it be. What I think will make this one so much more interesting, is that the first wasn't the best movie either. Although, the first didn't include Jason. In this one, they can do something better than all the other ones. It isn't supernatural, Jason is smarter, the kills are fresh, and there is a twist. We even see how he gets the mask. We are getting everything that we always wanted from the franchis, is one movie, which happens to be a remake. The movie sounds good.
Yeah I agree D...I am going to go see it with no expectations...I don't really watch many of the newers "Scary/Horror" movies, but this is one that I would love to see.
