Duel 2 Ratings
I know it's early, but I hope the Duel 2 beats The Hills premiere ratings. The Hills open with 3 million viewers, and I hope The Duel 2 passes the 3 million mark. I predict 3-4 million viewers. If any one has information concerning the ratings, please post it.
Hopefully it does well in ratings. The episode is great so I don't have worries.

I hope the Aftershow got good ratings too. It was a good one. Mark is a great host. (I know, I've said that before lol)

If the ratings are spectacular, MTV will report something internally in the next couple of days, but it will not be comparative and it will not be stratified.
Have the numbers been posted yet?
Have the numbers been posted yet?
Asked and answered too many times to count. It will be late tomorrow at the earliest, more likely Wednesday am, just as is noted in the thread above and is the same schedule for Neilsen ratings data release that we write about in every single ratings related thread here at vevmo... :dash2:

My mistake! I thought today was Tuesday and I got completely confused because I thought Tuesday was the 13th. Yes I know when they are posted it was just a mistake.
I am so pissed that tvbythenumbers didn't include the challenge numbers.
I am so pissed that tvbythenumbers didn't include the challenge numbers.
When you try to rely on an unreliable web site, that is what you get. Media Life will have the breakdown tomorrow, as the nearly always do.
Shocking results? I don't recall when this has every happened before. Four separate VH1 shows occupy spots in the top ten in the 18-34 demographic. The Duel II does not even register here... UGH? Opinion: It is not the fault of the cast or the production team. Blame falls squarely on MTV executives for their shortsighted advertising campaign (such as it was), with its entirely insular marketing approach. Outside adds were essential, as were the proper placement of commercial in ad packages for The Hills. Both B and I have written above about the flaws in MTV's approach. To lose outright to Tough Love and I Love Money is appalling and does not bode well for favorite RW/RR cast members whose majority yearly income is from club appearances apart from MTV. Those jobs are now increasingly going to VH1 show cast members.

DA, I would say they didn't advertise it correctly (semantic difference) and their MTV.com-centric approach of which Bacchus has written are the principle factors.
Is there any chance that episode 2 will do better? It's really sad to see this challenge get a barely mediocre amount of viewers.

I'm really surprised. V1, how do you think MTV could have promoted it better? I thought the previews were really good. Was the Island premiere better?

TJ, in short, I think WE here promoted it more than they did...

I think MTV has been off in promoting RW and RW/RR Challenges lately. I noticed earlier on for RW Brooklyn that they didn't show a real trailer for I think episode two, and for another episode they showed the same trailer that they showed at the end of the previous eposide. In the past, they would show more in the commercials than they did during the preview at the end of the previous episode. For this challenge, they showed the same trailer/commercials over and over again. In the past, they would have various little preview clips here and there and reveal a little more during the week or so leading up to the challenge. It's almost like they don't care much anymore. But MTV has been on a decline for years now. I was very shocked to see blocks of music videos on in the wee hours about a week ago. Still not a good time to show them, but it's better than showing none at all.

IMO they put all their attention on "the hills." After Lauren is done this year BMP will once again be dominate on MTV!!
There is a ray of sunshine in the overnights from April 15th. Here are the major network results from Wed. at 10 Pm, when The Duel II competes for viewer attention: At 10, CBS led with a 2.8 for “CSI: NY” followed by ABC with a 1.9 for “The Unusuals,” NBC with a 1.7 for another “L&O” rerun and Univision with a 1.3 for “Don Francisco Presenta.” All the above number suck! Just the hour before, American Idol scored an 8.0 rating. This means that if people continued to watch TV at 10, then some percentage went for MTV to The Duel II. It is always possible that Bravo captured a decent number for their A List Award at 10 as well. Cable ratings will not be out officially until next Tuesday PM.

Here is the MTV spin for this week:

RW/RR: The Duel 2 delivered a 1.70 P12-34 rating and over 1.7 million total viewers.
RW/RR: The Duel 2 ranked #1 in its time period versus all of cable among P12-34 and F12-34.
RW/RR: The Duel 2 ranked as the #1 cable telecast of the day among F12-34 (2.44 rating) for the second week in a row!
Still 1.7 million total viewers is about 700,000 viewers less than the second episode of The Real World Brooklyn (w/ 1.58 million in just 18-34.) With that in mind, it will be interesting to see how they did in the 18-34 demo. I have a feeling they will not be in the top 10 ad supported cable shows again this week.
Do we know what the number was? I mean the number for everyone that watched not just a certain demographic.
1.7 million + was the prelim announcement by MTV.
I hope that tonight's episode gets good ratings.
