The Duel 2: Episode 4 - Discussion

This was probably my favorite episode so far. I thought the part at the beginning of the episode with Evan and the sheep was kind of funny, but that might just be because I like Evan. The bobblehead challenge was hilarious, especially Dunbar running into Paula when he was tagging her. What was with the drawing or whatever it was on Isaac's face during his interview? lol. I'm happy that Landon and Brittini won, they seem to work really well together. I am so happy to see that Nehemiah is finally gone, from reading the spoilers I would have thought that he would have been gone sooner. I don't know what it is about him but there's just something to him that bugs me. Maybe it was just me but the way he was moving his head when TJ asked him who he was going to pick for the duel was kind of weird, like he was trying to intimidate everyone. I don't mind him having his room however he wants too, but leaving quotes on Landon/Evan's door that seemed to be directed at them? I don't think the duel between Evan and Nehemiah was at all unfair. TJ said the pully system had nothing to do with weight and I'm sure he wasn't lying. If it had to do with weight it would be unfair if someone like Eric were to go against someone like Isaac. Evan seemed really nervous again and I think one of the reasons he was figeting so much was because he's bigger than Nehemiah and the cage didn't look like there was much room for him to fit in. It was sad to see Katie leave :( I like Jenn but I would have rather had Katie stay than her. I am so excited for next week's episode! It looks like it's going to be really good.

He kept like bobbing his head, especially when he said "Evan". Maybe he got a weird edit, I don't know but I never liked him. I didn't care for him on the Duel or G3, but for some reason he just rubbed me the wrong way this season.

Come on we know from the RW that notes on doors never go over well.
How is that an insult? In a couple of your posts I read you seem to not "recall" a lot of stuff that recently happened in challenges. I wasn't just talking about the Eric Nies-Jump rope thing either. The Pedro movie was on MTV a few weeks ago, and anyone who has been recently watching Real World/Challenges would know, I'm not being rude. There is nothing wrong with being new to a show...
Apologies for being offensive then..[[This here is one example of how why communication through the internet can be easy to misinterpret..]] But yea I don't know if it was in this thread but I have a bad memory especially when it comes to remembering specifics..I've seen many of the challenges, but I'm one who has to watch a clip to get a reminder or be refreshed..But just to be clear, if it was before 1998 then I definitely won't recall much because I was only 9 years old and my family just obtained cable/satellite.. All is well again..
People are freaking out? Really? I think Evan's squirming, only helped him in the duel. You would think bouncing up and down in the cage would make it harder for the opponent to pull you up, right?
I wasn't aware that the opponent was pulling the other person up. I though Evan was pulling up Evan, and Nehemiah was pulling up Nehemiah. I don't think Evan's moving around would have affected anybody other than himself.

So while Evan moving might not have affected Nehemiah, by standing up or squatting, he definitely gave himself extra leverage to pull the chain - he was able to put his whole body into those couple pulls instead of just his arms.

I just hope that it was sighted by people, and you even hear Paula yelling at him after that duel stating something to the effects of readjusting and gaining leverage. Evan won, but it wasn't as clean and for him to claim that he is so superior is beyond me because clearly he isn't. However, I do give him credit for finding a way to stay in the game. He survived, and by a hair. Hopefully, the rest of the season will pan out to where there is some discord within that huge alliance.
Really? Because if my friend was on the ground and looked like they were about to die, I wouldn't be screaming about money. The way they all behaved (with the exception of Brad) left a sour taste in my mouth, and screaming that was selfish. I don't hold grudges either and I don't really hate anyone (although I can't stand Paula), but I'm getting sick and tired of reading that everyone hates Evan. I respect other people's opinions, I do, but it just gets old to to see the same thing everyday. He's good a competitor, he plays the game, and it works. It's not like he's CT, going around threatening to smash people's heads and eat it and yet everyone still lovesss him. Rant over.
I was in a very bad mood until I read that. It made me giggle lol

But if you go back and listen to what CT is saying is is completely level headed and trying to help as well. V1 also pointed out that a lot of what they had Evelyn saying were voice over's cut from throughout the whole show. If you watch some things are said when the camera is also not on Evelyn. Yes she did point out some significant reasons why they were in the position they were. It might not have been the time or place, but I probably would have been upset too. We all know and have seen that she has grown since. Evan is playing the game yes, but he is earning his position, period. He seems much more subdued this challenge, and from the dailies he seems to have a relationship with everyone. I think this challenge will be his redemption depending upon how far he makes it in the game. My opinion of him is changing with every episode, and I hope I am not the only.

In general, he's never been a favorite of mine, but every now and then he will say or do something to make me like him just a little bit.

I don't know about anybody else but I would of loved to see the entire hookup with Jenn and Rachel. I don't understand how MTV has all these cameras but doesn't get any footage of CT and Shauvon, and Jenn and Rachel. I bet they probably do and don't want to show it. Do you know how much money a Real World/Road Rules challenge angry ex-producer would make if he just released these sex videos on line to the public. Probably a lot of money.

It is very easy to sneak away with so many cast members at the beginning of any challenge. It gets easier to track people toward the end, but that is also when the cast becomes more resourceful.

But yeah the cast always have used inventive ways to evade the camera...though the cameras always seem to catch up with them.
I don't think they are supposed to show too much as well, since it's not supposed to be HBO or a ***** or anything like that. Also, a lot of times the people hooking up are under sheets/comforters.

Also, a lot of times the people hooking up are under sheets/comforters.
That's about all I need to see, them under the cover's nothing else. No gratuitous sex scene for me. I have been watching all of these people for year's so it is kind of like watching your brother's or your sister's. I would think it would be quite awkward with a camera in the room. With Jenn and Rachel on The Island you could see something happening between those two. Rachel stated that after The Island she felt Jenn was cold, IMO I think Jenn had feeling's for Rachel that scared the crap out of her. Sometimes I think there are just two people who were destined to have something between them right or wrong.
I agree, that's all I need and want to see as well. And I don't think I could hook up with a camera around, either.
I was watched the episode and Im so mad Katie is gone. No more katie on the duel, boo!

I think if someone hooked up in front of a camera, the editors would have a hard time showing the viewers..I'd do it though! :wink2: I want to make the crew as uncomfortable as possible.LOL..

I know some of those people. They would be making copies of the tape and putting it up on YouTube as quickly as possible. They've been known to make their own **** when bored on some challenges.

Wow.. i've always supported Nehemiah and I never thought he was "that bad" but man, he sure made a complete idiot out himself on this season. I mean I was rooting for him to take down Evan, but he still acted like a freak. I think he just tries to hard to be a ******. Anyway.. Evan sure gets off to slow starts in these duels. if he goes against better competition like Landon or Derek or Brad he could be in trouble. and I think MJ is the ultimate wild card. Yes, he is boring and I don't like him much, but he seems to be laying low and he's not a bad competitor.
Tonight marks yet another episode of Dueltastic fun! Hopefully this will pick up from last week's heartbreaker(for me anyway) and we will see an interesting twist to the game.
