The Dark Knight
Is anyone else totally pumped to see this movie?!?! Heath Ledger's death aside and all, I have been looking forward to this movie since I saw a snippet of the trailor last summer. I think this looks awesome and I definately think Heath looks like the scariest joker ever (and Jack Nichelson (sp?) ) scared the crap outta me when I was a kid. Would like to see it right away, but I might wait a week or so till all the fuss dies down a bit.
The fact that he is dead makes this very iffy for me. Almost like Brandon Lee in The Crow. I have no doubt it is going to be absolutely awesome, it just feels a bit awkward at this time and I am not sure I could fully enjoy the movie with the disturbing weight of tragic circumstance still thick in the air.

I was nervous to bring it up....I hate to say it. I was almost more excited to see it before he died, because now I think lots of freaks and stuff will flock to see it because they are morbid like that. And that's not why I want to see it. I have always liked the Batman franchise (more so than most "superhero" genres), but I do agree w/ you on the weirdness of it. We shall see.

MAYBE
I'm with Bacchus on this. I don't think I will be going to the movie theater to see it. I can barely watch old Heath flicks now. Especially 10 Things I Hate about You and The Patriot. However, I did watch Brokeback about a month ago. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be but still very sad. I've seen all the Batman movies and I was looking forward to this one.
That was the question I asked my cousin the other day...would people be affected by seeing him on the screen knowing what has happened? I definitely would be because it's always weird to see someone dead, especially if it was yragic as this was, on screen for me at least. BUT this looks like a great movie and I have to admit I love Batman movies(except maybe a couple). It adds a modern spin on the Joker and Batman which I can't wait to see plus they say it is one of Heath's best roles which makes things even more tragic if you think about it. Still I'm gonna watch it because honestly, I'm not going to avoid it despite it being weird to see him on screen. It's still shaping up to be a good movie and I can't wait to see it.
I have always been a big fan of Heath Ledger's work so I will not miss this movie which is supposed to be his best work to date. I don't think he would be happy if he knew that his fans didn't want to watch it because of his tragic death. This is something that I am sure he was very proud of and he deserves a box office hit with this show. I told my husband he was not allowed to watch it online because I just wouldn't feel right about him not adding to the numbers of viewers at the theater.
My husband and I are huge Batman begins fans, if you haven't seen it you definetly should before you see The Dark Knight! We were following the movie on the internet when production first started and could not wait. Then Heath p***ed, so saD! We hope that Heath get's great acknowledgement for the movie, but hope that the Movie get's the credit it deserves! It is going to be great! BTW did anyone see on the MTV movie awards the skit with Robert Downey Jr. where the kid says to him, your'e screwed when the dark knight comes out, and Christian bale would kick your ***! LOL

No i missed that skit. The way i heard it. Heath's acknowledgment is really cheap.

the credits at the end
the credits at the end
Oh, that sounds cool, but couldn't they put something better than that? I mean I get that it is a blanket statement, but I think they should acknowledge Heath as an individual.

thats what I said but then again you have people who were just like Heath who got the same thing. I find its better than to put Heath up on a pedestal, no offense intended.

I bet they do something at the end of "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus" as well..but I bet it is something more personable. Well then again, we don't know for sure what they will do at the end of batman...I am getting ahead of myself, LOL.

Jack nicholson was very impressed with Ledger's performance. That said this was going to be an amazing movie before the passing of an incredible star, since his untimely death this movie has been focused on so much because of Ledger. The batman Begins series, I believe follows the original storyline of Bruce Wayne more accuratley than its previous movies. I hope this movie gets the recognition it deserves.
This movie is definitely going to be the movie of the summer and probably the movie of the year.
can anyone find & post the opening scene. the first 6 minutes were leaked onto the net, but youtube pulled it. it's the bank robbing scene and i heard it's breahtking.

I haven't been able to find it either but I'm sure it's floating around the net somewhere I'm gonna look.
I agree I am way excited for this movie! PS- OtherPplsDrama, the first trailer was last december at the opening of I Am Legend, not last summer :)

I remeber because it was really short, but everyone was making a big fuss about it!
Only three days left I almost dread going to any theater near here because there will be a line from hell. Oh well it is worth it because it's been a while since I've looked forward to a Batman movie, it should be really good.
ahhhh i can't waaaaaaitttt
I went to the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight" with a bunch of co-workers and loved it! Heath Ledger was, of course, excellent. Aaron Eckhart gave an amazing performance, as well! I'm eager to see just how big of a weekend "The Dark Knight" is going to have...
The Dark Knight was an exceptional movie. Best comic book adaptation since Superman 2. Ledger and Eckhart were amazing, Bale was great as usual. I smell a sequel to this movie.

I hope to get in sometime this weekend. I read somewhere (dont' remember exactly) that they are predicted to make a minimum of $130 million. And that's just based on pre-opening ticket sales, Fandango, etc.
I went to the midnight premiere as well. Definitely worth it. I loved the movie. And as well as everyone else, LOVED Heath as the Joker. Amazing.

I'm excited to see Ledger as The Joker, he was definitely a great actor and Joker is a great Batman villain

Ticket sales have been through the roof... I'm friends with a few managers at the theater I went to and they were telling me that they sold out their 4 largest theaters and were working on a 5th for the midnight show (and they were, of course, having re-showings at 3:15 and 6:00 AM)
Ledger is giving Nicholson a running for his money with this performance. I still can't decide who was better. Hellboy 2 was great. Better than the first. The Dark Knight has officially taken over the best movie of the year, beating Wall-E.
