The CW: Life Unexpected
In recent years, I've become gun shy about watching new shows, but the previews just spoke to me on this one and I gave it a shot. Glad I did. It's not your typical Monday night CW family drama.
LIFE UNEXPECTED Mondays 8/7c After spending her life bouncing from one foster family to another, 15-year-old Lux has decided to become an emancipated minor. Her journey through the legal maze leads Lux to her biological father, 30-something Nate "Baze" Bazile, who lives like an aging frat-boy and is astonished to learn he has a daughter. Lux is equally astonished to learn that her mother is Cate Cassidy, a star on local radio, along with her boyfriend, Ryan Thomas. When a judge grants temporary custody of Lux to Baze and Cate, they agree to make a belated attempt to give Lux the family she deserves. LIFE UNEXPECTED is produced by Mojo Films in association with CBS Television Studios and Warner Bros. Television with executive producers Liz Tigelaar ("Brothers and Sisters," "What About Brian") and Gary Fleder ("October Road"). Gary Fleder directed the pilot. I plan on catching this rerun tomorrow, I wanted to see it last night, but I got caught up at the gym and missed it. Was it good Kathleen, are you going to continue with the series?
Yeah it was really good. Remember the girl from Dawson's Creek? The one Joey had to babysit in college. I think it was her professor's daughter...she later became "Joey" in Dawson's TV show The Creek...anyway she plays the daughter that was given up for adoption. I'm not a big fan of Liz Tigelaar (Roswell) (plays the mom) but somehow she made me feel for her and her situation. Witty dialogue.
I thought her name was Shiri Appleby or something like that...
I thought her name was Shiri Appleby or something like that...
Yeah, the mom is Shiri Appleby and Liz Tigelaar is the writer/creator. I caught it too and I liked it. I hate that the daughters name is Luxe (***?) but besides that it was like an old school WB drama and I missed those. I'll probably keep watching it since it was a nice way to fill the Mon 9 o'clock hour for me between HIMYM/Chuck and Castle since I'm not a 24 or Bachelor fan. You have to suspend a little belief that a judge would just give custody to people that have known each other all of two minutes but if you go with it it was definitely worth watching.
I figured the Lux is going to have to do with her changing her name in search of her own identity or something...I also read that they almost named the show Lux as well as Life UnXpectde so that LUX was spelled out...what can I say, I was bored yesterday and googled it, LOL.

I was looking forward to watching this. I'm bummed that I missed it. American Idol is on tonight.. so I'll have to catch this on Hulu.
It comes on again tomorrow :)
Before Glee?
I figured the Lux is going to have to do with her changing her name in search of her own identity or something...I also read that they almost named the show Lux as well as Life UnXpectde so that LUX was spelled out...what can I say, I was bored yesterday and googled it, LOL.
I figured that had something to do with it too. But really kid? You pick Lux? Total hipster wannabe even though she "hates" YouTube. Doing that to the show title would have been even more annoying. I may be whining a little too much about this but considering my only real complaint was the name of a character, I'd say the show was pretty good for a pilot!

Okay, I watched this last night and I think I am really going to like it. My little sister watched it with me and she liked it too. I am looking forward to the next episode.
