I was at my nephews house last night and he was excited because he had bought a new DVD with his Christmas money. (never mind that it was supposed to go towards buying a PS3... what can you do. the kid is turning 18.)
They were watching it in the family room so I sat down and said sure why not. I love Stone Cold Steve Austin...who doesn't?
For the love of God! I can't believe the content that was in that movie! Okay, I know that WWE is not the standard in which good movies are made. But holy heck it was just sick.
Some rich *******...gets 10 convicts on death row and tells them all that he is going to drop them on a deserted island and the last one standing after 30 hours is a free man (or woman). Oh and btw, you will be strapped to an ankle bracelet with a bomb that if tampered with will explode after a 10 second delay, oh and if there should be more than one person alive at 30 hours...you all die.
Now that's not the worst of it. I can handle that.
It was the violence. It was horrendous. Maybe it's because I'm a woman. But I don't find the rape of a woman (convicted murderer or not) entertainment. It's disgusting! I was appalled that this movie was made, that Steve Austin was in it....and that my nephew and his girlfriend didn't seem to mind what they were watching.
Maybe I'm just getting old...but at the age of 32, I just don't think that is it. What in the world is happening to our Entertainment industry? I just can't fathom how this movie was ever released. So many kids watch wrestling and look up to these guys. I watch it and I know they **** these movies out at every opportunity. How many parents rented this DVD for their kid? It just makes me sick.
