I agree that people like Easy and Trishelle were bad quits, because they also took someone else's shot at the money away. However, quitting doesn't really bother me for the most part. I know people may have this misconception that this show is a sport, but it's reality TV and as long as they entertain me beforehand, all is good. I mean Beth hardly gets called out for this. Also, hell sometimes people quit for outside factors like what's going on in the real world, living conditions, they feel overwhelmed/anxious, etc. I find the context to be important too.
Thank you. People on this board don't seem to understand this and it's a mentality I'll never understand.
And I don't see how Eric's quit was bad. Had he and Camilla won that elimination they wouldn't have made it to the end and they were going to be a constant target in the game anyways. Might as well cut the losses and leave. And as I stated before Camilla didn't deserve to be there in the first place so it's good that he quit. And it ensured that the game would be dicated and won by legit RW castmembers.
So your walking down the street with your girlfriend/boyfriend, loved one, whoever; and 2 people approach you, punch you in the face, and begin to attack your loved one; your just gonna walk out because "there is no chance" of you winning that fight? If your mother, father, brother, sister, loved one had cancer, would you tell them "might as well cut your losses because there is no chance"?
Whether its a challenge on MTV, cancer, a fight, or a life or death situation, you fight to the end, even if things seem hopeless. And I'm sure your gonna say, "thats different" or "I'm taking it too seriously" but if you quit on a challenge show where all you have to do is pull yourself under water with a rope or climb a rope ladder, then who is to say that you'll quit on someone in the real world when they need help. Eric even said, "things weren't going our way", so in other words, if he were my back up to a call and saw that things were going south, he wouldn't step up and he would let me either get seriously injured or get killed.
I have a very strong passion about this because of things I have been through and seen in my every day job that I can't even begin to see how people like you think quitting ANYTHING is acceptable.
Quitters unless they have a good reason like Coral or Naomi are losers and don't deserve to come back. I hate quitters I don't give a **** that " its just a realty show" they still quit. They suck .

Thats such a terrible mentality to have in a game show or in real life. So because something in life looks challenging you should just quit? Because they probably weren't gonna make it far you should just quit? That's terrible and I hope because you have that mentality for someone else you don't believe that in your own life. If I was the show I would compete no matter the circumstance even if I was injured but I guess not many people have that "give it your all" and "quitting is never an option" mentality.
i can tell you are just waiting for someone to start the whole "fresh meat and Camila are real castmembers" arguement because you keep mentioning how she didn't deserve to be there lol
Once again agree with everything 100%. Maybe DA is someone that has never faced adversity or challenging situations in life so they don't understand how detrimental quitting is.

And I'm not saying that if you encoutner something hard you should just quit. The Challenges have nothing to do with real life. But sometimes in life it's just not worth it to stick something out because the ends don't justify the means and that's okay to just quit sometimes.
And no. I'm not starting that Fresh Meat argument. I've accepted them as castmembers(but not Camilla and definetly not AYTO).

Yep. Those situations ARE different and you ARE taking it too seriously. And mind you I'm going through a rough period in my life right now and I'm not giving up. A stupid TV show is not the same thing as a real life situation or something life threatening. Quitting on some ***** who you aren't even close to is not the same thing as a loved one getting assaulted. Just because YOU have some grand macho "never say die" attitude does not mean that everyone on this show has to have the same mentality. i just think that if you can easily quit on something so trivial such as a reality show you will be more likely to quit in real life situations. You're basically teaching yourself that if something doesn't seem possible you should just quit. Terrible mentality to have but again some people like yourself may have that mentality while others like myself don't. I was taught to never quit no matter what so I'm just gonna stick to that. Even if I had a team of Eric/Casey/Shauvon or if I'm in a bar fight with a guy twice my size.

I don't know you from a doorknob but unfortunately that mentality is one of a sheep and it shows the biggest lack of heart. The "I don't stand a chance so I'm just going to give up" mentality is one that I find a lot of people have these days and its sad. I am 6'2 195 lbs. and I wouldn't care if I were facing Zach, CT, and Brock Lesnar in Riot Act, I would fight my *** off to stay, even though my chances my not be great, there is no way I am giving up.
actually i would argue that his view on this "quitting" goes against common, philosophy. you actually get a lot of shit for quitting nowadays and people are encouraged to think they're superhumans that can accomplish anything if they put their minds to it and that's just simply not true on any level.
there is nothing wrong with being realistic and pragmatic and thats what quitting is based on. in order to get p***ed a problem or issue you need to ACCEPT, yeah accept and be comfortable and secure with the fact that something is beyond your control. the philosophy of not quitting sounds uplifting as a cute little quote on instagram or on the back of a popsicle stick but its really not applicable to real life. the "sheep" thing to do is to be arrogant and think you can do whatever your mind sets itself on because you heard it in some disney movie. thats the bandwagon everyone is riding on
it was so stupid of derrick to fight in riot act when he had 0 chance of coming out of it the winner. the smart thing to do would be to QUIT that as soon as he knew he wasnt going to win so he could preserve his energy for the gulag that he was inevitably going into

With that logic, everyone who isn't a top competitor should just leave on the first day. They weren't going to win anyway and should just cut their losses and leave.
they go there for partying, screen time, and a bit of fame. some of the middle tier competitors do have a slight chance of winning though but yes i would agree that the bad competitors, the ones that aren't benefitting from the first three things and have 0 chance of winning, should go home immediately so they can do something else with a high priority. fortunately for us viewers and those that want to see some interesting TV, most people arent that smart about calculating their actions and most of these guys will delusionally think that they can make it to the end as long as they dont quit...we see hwo that works 99.5% of the time

I don't think it's a bad mentaility at all and I don't believe that just because you quit some reality show it means that you'll quit in real life situations independent from TV. Different situations call for different solutions. You can't just persevere through everything in life. Like V said sometimes you gotta be realisitic and just say "**** it"..especially when you lose nothing. We'll just agree to disagree.
Lol Debut now you're going to be known as "the quitter" on this site lmaooo its so ridiculous.
I know right?
Because having an different opinion about whether people on a TV show should be able to quit if they want = applying that same opinion in your actual daily life.

Reread what I said which started with I THINK. I also consistently said some people have a different mindset and thats ok. I stand by MY OPINION and have no problem with anyone elses (in this case Debut's opinion). Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Quit trying to make something out of nothing but a normal conversation about perceptions of quitting. #VevmoLogic

Terrible mentality to have but again some people like yourself may have that mentality while others like myself don't. I was taught to never quit no matter what so I'm just gonna stick to that. Even if I had a team of Eric/Casey/Shauvon or if I'm in a bar fight with a guy twice my size.
Everyone has a breaking point, even you.
actually i would argue that his view on this "quitting" goes against common, philosophy. you actually get a lot of shit for quitting nowadays and people are encouraged to think they're superhumans that can accomplish anything if they put their minds to it and that's just simply not true on any level.
there is nothing wrong with being realistic and pragmatic and thats what quitting is based on. in order to get p***ed a problem or issue you need to ACCEPT, yeah accept and be comfortable and secure with the fact that something is beyond your control. the philosophy of not quitting sounds uplifting as a cute little quote on instagram or on the back of a popsicle stick but its really not applicable to real life. the "sheep" thing to do is to be arrogant and think you can do whatever your mind sets itself on because you heard it in some disney movie. thats the bandwagon everyone is riding on
it was so stupid of derrick to fight in riot act when he had 0 chance of coming out of it the winner. the smart thing to do would be to QUIT that as soon as he knew he wasnt going to win so he could preserve his energy for the gulag that he was inevitably going into
they go there for partying, screen time, and a bit of fame. some of the middle tier competitors do have a slight chance of winning though but yes i would agree that the bad competitors, the ones that aren't benefitting from the first three things and have 0 chance of winning, should go home immediately so they can do something else with a high priority. fortunately for us viewers and those that want to see some interesting TV, most people arent that smart about calculating their actions and most of these guys will delusionally think that they can make it to the end as long as they dont quit...we see hwo that works 99.5% of the time
I NEVER thought I'd say this....
Can we go back to the stupid height debates or something now?
K thanks...
Would be a little weird in this thread but ok, ill give it a go.
Upopular opinion: I think Zach is 14 feet tall and weighs 4700 pounds.
We'll just agree to disagree.
.....Or maybe you can go to another thread if you don't like what's being discussed here.
LMAO Emotional. You've really grown on me...
Love you too DA!
Lol Debut now you're going to be known as "the quitter" on this site lmaooo its so ridiculous.
Nah it's not that serious.
The way the conversation has been going it seems serious but I would hope it's not.
That was definitely the vibe I was getting.
I know right?
Because having an different opinion about whether people on a TV show should be able to quit if they want = applying that same opinion in your actual daily life.
Ridiculous.
Totally. I mean if I feel like its no big deal that people on The Challenge then I quit at EVERYTHING in my real life!
Vevmo Logic at its finest.
I was definitely going to say these exact bolded words but you beat me to it lmaoo
#VevmoLogic
Reread what I said which started with I THINK. I also consistently said some people have a different mindset and thats ok. I stand by MY OPINION and have no problem with anyone elses (in this case Debut's opinion). Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Quit trying to make something out of nothing but a normal conversation about perceptions of quitting. #VevmoLogic
Lol
