This is why the golden era will always be better than the modern era. The show is more competitive now but less fun. Like Veronica said on twitter a few weeks back, back in the day EVERY person brought SOMETHING to the show. Whether it be being great at comps, being a great social player or strategist or just being a great character or villain, everyone added to the show in some way. Now its not like that and its all about competitions and a focus on certain people.

i agree with that 100%. I just watched the original seasons for the first time and even though they got very little air time, Beth, Jon, Veronica and Yes all had their little moments. Basically everyone that season had a reason for being on the screen...most were bad competitors but I found it a highly entertaining season.
Nothing compares to the golden ear and those that don't like it haven't even seen it. Glad you liked Seasons I Potato! One of my favorites, its a slow re-watch tho after its just three teams on each side. The only one that was kinda worthless on that season though was Flora which shocked me, never thought she could fade into the background...

Flora hated her edit on her original season of the real world. She only went on the challenge to show that she was normal. I believe Flora said in her speakreality interview that she purposely stayed in the background. She didn't even have intentions of staying that long.
Flora was actually edited out of Seasons for the most part. I believe for the 10 year reunion for RW (or something similar), she tried to rally all the cast members together to demand higher pay for attending. BMP didn't like that and then edited her out of Seasons and essentially blacklisted her from future shows.

you're right, Flora and her partner were more wallpaper. I actually forgot she was there until they voted Stephen and Lindsay off and she said in a confessional she was shocked it wasn't her because she deserved to go (I think she said something along those lines).
I love the scoreboard, I miss it. I think it would put people in their place. I would have rather had them not eliminate anyone for two or theee missions then have eliminations start and go up till the final...would have made it a bit more interesting but I loved the 'care free' vibe it had...much like the original Battle of the Sexes.
We'll never get those days back . That lighthearted, more comedic than dramatic, "it's just a game at the end of the day" vibe? Nope. Society in general is so dark & depressing now and the show reflects just that.

i feel thought that the past two or so seasons, even though it's darker, the fun vibe is slowly starting to come back a bit. The cast doesn't seem as miserable and the challenges aren't as 'Xtreme' as they were.
The environment may be "better" but production still does ****** up shit especially with the manipulation of editing. I hate that this series continues to be promoted as the John/CT/Cara/Camila show and even the editing and confessionals every episode support that.
Or even the editing of having to sell it like Tori completely destroyed Marie even though Tori herself said Marie competed better than what was shown. It's too much bullshit and the whole Camila racist thing just sealed it for me. Production is still up to their usual nonsense.
