I was reading this article Exclusive: 'Castle' pairs Dana Delany with a Hero | Ausiello | EW.com about some upcoming episodes but I liked the little tidbit at the end that mentioned ABC increasing the episode order from 22 to 24! Definitely a good sign for Castle!!
Anyone else still watching Castle? I record all of them and catch up when I can. It's a great show because Nathan Fillion is a funny guy.

I actually started watching Firefly this weekend. I'm a couple episodes in and I'll admit that I like the feel more now that I am comfortable with Fillion's type of comedy (after watching Castle) then I was when I initially watched Serenity as a stand alone a few years ago.
I LOVE Castle. I initially started watching purely for Nathan Fillion (aka Captain Tightpants) and stuck with it after it got much better during the second season. I really enjoy it and love catching all the Firefly references they put in.
Watching Serenity the movie alone is not a good Firefly viewing experience. It is definitely a fun space/western/scifi movie on it's own but you get so so so much more out of it if you watch the series, which is one of my all time favorite shows.

I heard that reference for the first time just now, lol. (watching Shindig.)
I thought it was a really great season finale but I am ****** they ended it on that note. I hate cliffhangers of people dying who we know they won't kill off. Now we are only really waiting to see how they will write themselves out of it which isn't tons of fun.
At least it got Castle to finally say his feelings for Kate out loud.
Oh and I must admit that I totally didn't see the twist with the Captain coming. I should have when they were advertising that someone dies and they had been playing up his retirement lately (no one ever gets to just happily retire!) but I really didn't suspect him. I guess I thought that the "3rd cop" story would be left for next season so there wouldn't be any reveal.
I'll miss pretending that Mondays are a mini Firefly reunion each week with Jayne and Mal on my tv, now that Chuck is moved to Friday nights but I'm just happy that both these shows are back next year!
I'm with you on the death scare. I was kidding with my mom (big fan of the show) as to who they'd replace Beckett with (hehe, yes I'm evil like that, but she already thinks there is a bullet proof jacket involved or something of the like.)
It was good that we finally got to see Castle admit his love. It will be another 20 plus episodes before we see something again like that, I'm sure.
I somewhat saw "a Captain" twist before it was revealed, but I was shocked being I didn't suspect he was the 3rd cop (I just assumed the actor was leaving the show and that it would be covered in the finale.) I'm not sure if I watched all the older episodes again that it would play out his guilt properly, but in the end I was satisfied with how it ended for him (hero) and how the series will continue.
A plus is this show keeps growing its audience. Nathan finally has a hit across a broad spectrum. Deservedly so.

When it first happened my initial instinct was that they were going to try and pull something like Bones did when they faked Booth's death to try and smoke out a fugitive that was after him.

I wonder about that too. I guess it depends if that was the plan from the beginning of the story development of her mother's murder or if it just kind of came about as they continued writing. I was happy with his ending too. I was afraid he was going to just kill himself which I think would have been to sad of an ending. At least he went out in a blaze of glory.

So happy he is finally getting some recognition outside of the nerd world. A hit or not, I'm sure he's just excited that it lasted more than one season!

This is at the top of my list of scenarios as well...
They haul her into the ambulance, Castle is in tears by her side. As soon as the door closes, her eyes open (Castle jumps back shocked) and she proceeds to open her shirt and reveal the bullet carefully captured in her vest. Now they head off on the hunt for the shooter and the criminal organization behind him.
I didn't see the time they went with that lead character recovery method on Bones, but I've probably seen it at least a dozen times elsewhere.
Another escape (that is also over used) would be the "she has gone into shock and isn't really dead" path (opening scene cuts to ambulance zooming through Manhattan as Beckett hangs on for her life. Later, Castle holds vigil by her hospital bed while Beckett's loyal colleges seek vengeance.)
I'll give them a pass however they dig themselves out. I always do with my favorite shows...

Exactly. Bones was just the most recent example I could think of. In that case the guy was actually shot (by a stalker) and while in the hospital, the FBI decided to fake his death to get the fugitive out of hiding at his funeral. Of course they didn't tell any of the other characters so their grief, and shock, would be genuine.

Same. I'm not too annoyed since it looks like it was more of a ploy to get some feelings expressed instead of to create more drama. If that is what it takes to get the ball rolling between Castle and Beckett, I'll go along with it.
