Back to New York: Coral Smith
I figured I'd start this thread since the BtNY season love is being spread right now, and because I wanted to answer a Coral specific question from another thread and want to make sure it's in the right thread. Coral's ethnic background is Creole (as stated on her application in the RW BtNY book). So yes, she is black, but being of Creole ethnicity, she has some mixture of French, Spanish, African, and Indian races blended in (Beyonce is also someone of Creole descent, from her mom's side).
Coral is my favorite cast member, and in my opinion, tied with Beth, for being the best cast member that BMP could get. Period.
i absolutely love Coral! <3

Coral is my all time favorite person on real world.
Coral is defiantly my favorite Real World cast member since Back to New York and I always liked her ever since.
this is one of the many season I missed, and I hear I missed out on alot :(
Back to New York is one of the most diverse and realest seasons of the Real World. Coral,Nicole,Kevin,Malik,Lori,Rachel and Mike
Gotta love Coral!
I have to say I didn't like her on her season. The way she treated Mike and how she got on Malik was appaling. But I was Neutral to her on the challenges. That said Back 2 New York was My 1st season I watched so I gotta give it some love <3333333.
Back to New York had so much diversity and It was my favorite house. I love NY atmosphere. Coral and Nicole were consider the bullies of the house.
I don't think that they were really bullying Rachel, I think that's just their sense of humor and she had never been around women like them before. There were some times when they were really rude, though. Personally, if I had been in their situation with someone like Rachel, I would probably be the same way.
I agree, s&v. There were some things that happened on B2NY that, looking back now, having seen Coral for so many years on challenges and such, it seems like it's her sense of humor. Like when she was making fun of Mike's haircut. I thought she was just being rude, but now I think she was mostly joking (though being a bit rude). When you aren't on the best terms with people, that kind of joking can be seen as more on the mean spirited side than it's meant to be. Usually you don't have that joking relationship with people you don't get along with. She does have that kind of sense of humor where she picks on people, and sometimes she is being too mean or goes too far. I think they did go too far with Rachael. Some people don't react to her kind of humor well, and I don't think it's a bad thing or a fault to not respond to that kind of humor well. It takes a while to get adjusted to something like that. Rachael was more of a sheltered good girl type. Coral and Nicole did mention that Rachael would pick on people, too, but when they picked on her, she couldn't take it, so although I think they were hard edged with their joking, Rachael should have thought about how her joking might offend some people, or at least expect to be joked with right back. Mike mentioned that some of Rachael's jokes bothered him.

I LOVE Coral too but I can see why people would be put off by her attitude. My friends are like a bunch of mini Coral's so she doesn't bother me.
Mini Coral's? Sounds like you have your hands full.
Mini Coral's? Sounds like you have your hands full.
Not really, I love my friends. :D. They keep it real.
I think Coral was more humorous and Nicole was too but she was seen as more serious then Coral. Funny how those two hated working at Arista and lost tickets to Outkast for not going on a volunteer work day.

I've always loved Coral ... I just she was a cool person who valued loyalty and trust above most things.
Just imagine Coral hosting a challenge that would be epic!
Whether or not it would be epic is debatable BUT it would be entertaining. She might spend half the time snapping off to the various castmembers.
I remember Lori saying on her blogsite that on the cameras it looked liked her and Coral werent close but in reality they were the closest in the house.
