Like people before me have said, I think there hasn't been a male asian on the RW simply because the casting directors haven't found one that would be right for the show. For instance, I was listening to some interview about RW casting directors wanting to cast a transgender roommate long before Katelynn, they just didn't find anyone with a story that was interesting enough.
Well what type of male asian do you think they are looking for? They must of had a variety that auditioned within the past 25 seasons?
[strike]Im half asian myself, I noticed that reality tv shows usually cast the stereotypical "gay" asian. Actually I don't think I seen a straight asian male on reality tv.[/strike] I'm half Asian myself, I noticed that reality tv shows usually cast the stereotypical "gay" Asian. I don't think the directors even know exactly what they're looking for until it's infront of them.
Looks like the show got picked up. 'K-TOWN' Asian Jersey Shore Cast Reel | channelAPA.com

As much as I want the Real World to be as diverse as possible. I have to agree it's not the casting directors fault. They really just take the best from the group that they see during the auditions.

Asians have a culture to look after thats why you hardly ever seen any of them on a reality show. They want to keep their class. But this asian Jersey Shore is gonna **** them off.
That video was epic.
Whoever it was that said Asians don't want to disappoint their families and culture by being on the show, just because a person is Asian does not mean they grew up in Asian culture. That being said, it is interesting that no Asian male has been on The Real World because I'm sure there has been an Asian guy that was more interesting than someone else they picked. Someone else made a good point though about how Asian guys might just be getting more discouraged over the years to audition because there has yet to be one cast on The Real World. Obviously there are way more Caucasian males in the country so the ratio is more to their favor, and with 15 thousand people auditioning, the chances are slim. That's not going to stop me from giving it a shot though haha :) (I am half Japanese, you can't even really tell by looking at me until after you found out)
100% Vietnamese. Should I try out? I could add something new. Pho all day everyday. Happy New Year!
Stereotypes and small acts of racism, if any, will always exist. You just gotta learn to deal with it, no other way around it .
