Man, the groups were brutal. I haven't been watching that much the past few years but if those were "some of the best group performances ever" the others must have been atrocious. The only people I am rooting for and am excited to see right now are Chris Medina, the girl whose cousin had cancer and she sung with Steven in her audition and the Carrot Top lookalike. The rest left have all been forgettable and no one stood out to me tonight that they hadn't featured before. Hopefully people start getting better or this looks like it will be a really week season.

I'm rooting for Lauren!!! I love that girl! Something about her reminds me of Carrie Underwood. I think it's the blonde hair, and the BIG voice!
Anyone know if Thia Megia is still in? I didn't watch much of Hollywood week, but she was my favorite from the auditions and I didn't see her tonight (though I missed some of the episode).
Yes,she is. And btw,I am so ****** that Paris went last night!!
I am watching this season, and I have to agree with those who do not miss Simon. The judges have been great; Simon was really boring last year.

Chris Medina went home. American Idol is DEAD TO ME!

I wasn't shocked seeign Chris go home. 1) He really is good, but not as great as the male singers who got through (already read the Top 24 spoilers) 2) He is a HUGE threat to the whole "a girl wins idol" this season. I think Hollie also deserved to be in the Top 24 like J.lo said, but she is a threat to a certain producer favorite (who I also love). Hollie could have been a dark horse, and gotten better as the show goes on (seasons 6-9, the winner has been who improved the most).
I feel as if this season has way more great singers than the past few seasons combined and it's just overall a great season so far. I really like Paul McDonald, he's my favorite guy so far. I could be biased a little because he's from Nashville though.

I'm pulling for Jordan Dorsey, Jacob Lusk, Brett (the 16 year old), the girl who has been trying since seasaon 6 to go far.

They eliminated the singer/songwriter type of people, and went back to the orginal formulas! Finding outstanding unique voices.
I don't like James Durbin! We've already have enough high-note-singers with Adam Lambert and Siobhan Magnus (though I absolutely LOVE Siobhan<3) But this year, EVERYONE is so good!! I really couldn't narrow it down to a few people to vote for, I ended up voting for like 7 or 8 people. I HATEHATEHATE the format this year though! I think they should've done season 7's format, where 2 guys and 2 girls went home every week until the final 12. I just...don't like this format. I feel like so much talent is being wasted cause they're going home after 1 performance, instead of 2 or 3.
I don't like the new format either. Are they just doing less episodes this time? I would have rather had the try outs cut shorter and done two cities in one episode than have this drastic of a cut right off the bat. Ugh, just saw that Haley advanced! What the heck? That was the weirdest version of Fallen I've seen. Way too sexual, weird faces and I did not like her "raspy" (guttural) voice. Lauren Turner or Naima should have advanced before her. I could really do without Scotty (though I think he is the early favorite) or James and I would rather have Brett, Robbie or Tim.
Paul McDonald :girl_in_love:
I am SHOCKED robbie didn't make it...

I'm officially not watching this season. I find it disgusting that they didnt give Brett a WC slot, and that they picked Ashthon over Kendra for the top 13. I just think the judges really need to go by voice/votes rather than what they went by.
Robbie was the one with the big nose right? I am suprised he didnt make it either. I hate the high voice dude. And yeah Jordan should've made it. Thank god Chris Medina didnt make it.
I'm immensely pleased by the new format. Whittling down the top 24 has always been the most tedious process of the entire American Idol show and I usually lose a lot of momentum in my interest because of it. Anyway, I'm largely happy with the results. My only gripes are that I would've preferred Kendra and Lauren Turner over Ashton and Haley. The latter two are rather mediocre and only Haley has a chance of going far, mostly because she's hot. Naima and Thia are such good singers, but they've been putting out pretty boring performances. I'm really surprised with Naima's choices, I expected her to go in an entirely different direction (like a more Lauryn Hill vibe). I think she's going to be an early out a la Camille Velasco (another early favorite in her season).
Probably the most shocking idol result ever! So ****** right now!
I'm okay with it. I would have rather seen Stefano go home but Pia was such a boring performer. I do think she easily had the best voice of the females if not the best voice of them all but when you can't even manage to walk from one side of the stage to the other while singing for an uptempo song, I don't exactly want to see you just stand there and sing week after week. If you had muted her last night you would not have been able to tell the difference between her performing this song and one of her ballads. I think she was too caught up on pretty and perfect instead of entertaining and engaging. Here is to Stefano going next week and Scotty finally holding his mic a different way because that CLAW business he has going on needs to stop ASAP.

I'm with you Tots. I called this last night. I don't understand why she cant move. I don't know how it's possible to sing the way she sings without showing any emotion. You would think a voice like that would have a hard time keeping control. I'd be like James Brown on that mother. I'd listen to her music... But I'd never watch her.. On tv, live, or otherwise. That being sad, Stefano is on my **** list. First he knocked on NKOTB a few weeks ago. Then, last night, he ruined my favorite song of all time. PS is rolling in his grave.
It's official. I am definitely over idol and will no even be watching the finale or even tuning in next season. A 16 year old and a 17 year old, both who are country singers, is not my cup of tea. Idol had potential this season to be really great, but it failed in my opinion. Vocally, the best singers didn't make it to the end and Scotty has had this competition in the bag with all the teenage girls throwing votes at him probably since week 5. Did anyone else see all the little girls crying because they got to touch him? Ugh. I'm not even going to go into Lauren. She had potential to be fantastic and her audition was probably one of the best one's I've seen, but she hasn't brought anything since. Sorry about that rant, but you get my point.
Oh man. I guess Haley went home. BOO. I think Scotty has had it in the bag since week 1! Supposedly he and Casey had the loudest cheers/screams the very first night on the big stage. He will have to majorly screw up by denouncing Jesus and America on live tv to loose this season. I was hoping Haley would continue her run as the dark horse but sadly people just don't appreciate talent and taking risks. All 3 of her songs last night were MUCH more difficult than any of the the other two's choices. I doubt either of them would even be able to make it through songs at that level. I do blame a lot of what has gone wrong this season on the judges because really there hasn't been any judging just praising and talking about haircuts. Ugh. The person they were the hardest on was Haley and they claimed it was because they knew she could do better. It's such BS. I would have stopped watching much earlier this season but others in my household couldn't quit it. We definitely won't be watching the finale though. I don't need to hear mediocre renditions of mediocre country songs. After this year I won't be tuning back in, even for the auditions. Especially now that there is The Voice and X-Factor to fill the singing competition void.
I'm SOOO with you!Haley was awesome. Not that Scotty and Lauren weren't talented.I'm sure they'll both have long careers performing at county fairs.
I've got to say the whole competetion I haven't liked Haley, but she won me over last week. I was rooting for her! :( I guess i'll go back to my old fav, Lauren..

I'M OVER THE MOON!!!!!!!!!!! I'M SO HAPPY LAUREN IS IN THE TOP 2!!!!! I wish Haley was there instead of Scotty, but he has this competition in the bag. I will still vote it more crazy next week! LAUREN FOR THE WIN!!! THANK YOU GOD & JESUS!!!!

She won me over with that song and just kept improving for me. At the beginning I wasn't really sure what kind of artist she wanted to be or what she could do because she was kind of all over the place with song choice and style. But each week she tried to challenge herself and picked interesting songs which I appreciate. I also thought she was one of the best on stage out of the group. She always looked comfortable and was engaging with the audience. Before her fall last night she was basically running around the stage and the judges and still sounded better than when Scotty and Lauren just stood there. Then again, I could hardly watch Scotty because his claw hand annoyed me so much so he may have moved around without me knowing.

Just a few weeks ago they were nailing Haley for doing such a simple song, but once Scotty was up they praised him for such a simple song. It just doesn't make sense to me. I was always getting this vibe that JLO and Randy had something against her. And that's the same reason why I continued to watch was because others in my house were watching. It's just gone completely down the drain and I'm missing Simon more than ever. I will have to give the X-Factor a go just for him.
I'M OVER THE MOON!!!!!!!!!!! I can only imagine what's going to happen when she doesn't win. Scotty has had that spot in the finals since who knows when, but Lauren hasn't vocally been up to par at all lately. Even if you voted a million times, Scotty would still win.
I like all 3 and I really think since they were all great, it went to personality. Haley is kind of a ***** and kind of rude, just like Pia was. People can sense that and don't like it.

Randy basically saying she'd go go home last week was mean!
I like that she stood up for herself. She KILLS the songs she sings, and the judges are always mean to her! I would've said something too. Haley is one of my favorite singers ever, I loved her since the top 24. I am soooo upset that she didn't at least make the top 2!!!
