AMC: Breaking Bad

I have added Breaking Bad to my schedule and set the DVR to record all upcoming episodes. I love Bryan Cranston and think that this show is going to work!

Walter Says Goodbye

Breaking Bad is an upcoming American dark comedy/drama television series created by X-Files producer Vince Gilligan. Its first season, consisting of 9 episodes, (7 episodes produced before the writers' strike) is currently in production for AMC, and is scheduled to premiere on January 20, 2008. The series stars Malcolm in the Middle's Bryan Cranston as Walter White, a struggling high school chemistry teacher with a handicapped child and a pregnant wife. When White is diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, he "loses it" and turns to a life of crime, setting up a meth lab in order to support his family. The title of the series comes from the American Southwest slang phrase "to break bad," meaning to challenge conventions, to defy authority and to skirt the edges of the law. The series is set in (and is shot in and near) Albuquerque, NM.

It looks good. This is a different subject but, what about Mad Men? I never see it anymore and I loved it. It's not cancelled is it? Or is it a victim of writer's strike? I really thought it was a good show.

Awesome period piece, but way too slow going for my tastes. I took it off my schedule. They did win the Golden Globe for best drama, so obviously someone up high disagrees with me.... I think Breaking Bad is going to up the ante over at AMC and bring in a different audience which will be great for the network, and it looks to be more in line with the type of pacing that I expect in a drama.

It is slow, I was never into at first, my husband liked it and I would watch it sometimes with him. But then I got into it. It certainly did not have cliffhangers but the acting is good and I am really into design and loved that aspect of the show and its authenticity.
Make sure to tune in to Breaking Bad tonight at 10:00 PM ET on AMC!
i am going to give it a whirl.

Breaking Bad is running in weekly order starting tonight (12:00 AM ET) after the premiere of the new season of Mad Men if anyone is interested. It is easily the best new show of the year IMHO and has been picked up for another season starting later this year.

I think i'd LOVE IT though. AMC says: Season 2 premieres 2009 Breaking Bad and Emmy-winning star Bryan Cranston returns for a second season in 2009. Check back often for show updates and news. No date though. I'll just DVR it while i catch up.
AMC says: Season 2 premieres 2009
It is going to be March, probably a week after the DVD comes out. I am looking forward to its return. This is one of the few good shows to come out of last years strike ravaged season.
I'll DVR that shit, and catch up on DVD via Netflix. Word. Can't wait to jump in.
Moved the show to the 1-3 spots in my queue! I can't wait to see it
Moved the show to the 1-3 spots in my queue! I can't wait to see it
Ahh, yes - February 9th! (And then March 8th for the premiere of season 2.) Even though I have seen it twice through, I might get the DVD's. The original premiere was unedited, but then every time they showed it after they cut out heavy swearing and nudity, etc. I am sure they cut out other things as well. I bet seeing it on DVD will be more of a Showtime experience than a basic cable one.
Netflix says Feb 24...?
Netflix says Feb 24...?
Whoops! I read it wrong. http://shop.amctv.com/product/show/48251
How is AMC about airing repeats of the new episodes? Looking ahead, this show will be opposite of United States of Tara...and knowing my house, setting both to record at the same time is a recipe for disaster. So does AMC frequently repeat them or should I re-set Tara for another timeslot? AND ps: Breaking Bad: Season 1: Disc 1 - Shipping today

AMC airs this like 8 times a week, including back to back. No worries. :D
SWEEEET I'll record the 11pm episodes then.
3 episodes in. I like it, but I don't looove it (yet). It's a pretty ***ked up show though! And that, I do like! Gonna watch the full season regardless.
It is not your standard show and can be a bit slow at times. Still, it resonates with me. I've always thought of it as a darker weeds.
Yeah...I think that I was expecting something else...it's much darker than I had expected. That said - I'll get over the expectations, maybe watch it a little slower (back to back episodes can be a little rough because of the pacing/darkness), but you're right...it definitely resonates. Totally. The body in the bathtub + the acid! GROSSSSS hahaha
5 Episodes in...I think what bothers me the most is my indifference towards the other characters. I like Walt, but his family and Jesse I don't really care about. Like, at all. 2 Episodes to go. Will probably finish it up tomorrow so I can send the discs back and continue with The X-Files =) Will post back when I'm officially done with the Season.
Well, it sounds like it just isn't your cup of tea. To each their own I suspect. ;)
Well, it sounds like it just isn't your cup of tea. To each their own I suspect. ;)
I'm not calling it not my cup of tea yet...but I don't feel "addicted". The last 2 episodes will decide if I watch the new season (Which I heard BOB ODENKIRK is going to be on...and that is a HUGE reason to watch!)

I've never watched the show.... However, I have it on right now. I'm going to give it a whirl. I have a feeling that I'm going to feel lost. update: I just finished the episode where the guy blows up the obnoxious lawyer's car. I have to say, I think I really like this show. It's sad to see this man with cancer resorting to a life of crime to take care of his family. It's ironic that the drug he's manufacturing is ripping other families apart.
Season 2 premier tonight. Insider, you should give it a whirl!
