The Amazing Race 18: I Feel Like a Monkey in a Circus Parade
Overwhelmed by a swarming sea of people on the congested streets of India, one team narrowly dodges a traffic collision while another's clumsiness threatens to spoil their chances of acing the Detour
Yet another week I tune into TAR and get 60 minutes...
Anyone know the lag time this week?
I'm pretty sure it's around 15 minutes or so. Don't take my word, that's just what I was told.
I love Zev (in his hilarious silver pajamas drinking the tea): "That was pretty pointless." And Ron and Christina just had to show off that they spoke the language just one more time before they left China.
EDIT: That completely makes more sense now that they had them drink tea...
I have a baseball draft, so I think I am going to wait and watch the entire thing a bit later.
Then I'll refrain from talking to myself.
I was completely satisfied with tonight's episode. There were some really funny parts from the Goths while painting the statue and I would have really loved for the Globetrotters to do the other detour to try and fit in the tiny school bus. That would have just been really hysterical.
Can't wait for the b****y blog this week to here them talk about all the crying that went down.
First episode of the season I watched (mostly because I never remember to watch it on Sunday nights). But Luke's breakdown was heartbreaking. Poor guy.

I've never been a huge Margie/Luke fan, but it was heartbreaking. I did love how the guys at the tea place were cheering him on and then picked him up in celebration.
"I don't know about his Boston hat." NOOOO!!! Zev! Don't make me turn on you now. I swear I can convert you if you just hang out with me and bring Justin along of course. ;)
Whine, whine, whine from Ron all the time. Just go away.
These tasks are pretty boring tonight. Too much product placement and too little challenge.
I like the tasks where they have to search for stuff (although the tea one was pretty boring). They could bring back the hay one if they really wanted, that always gave me a good laugh. Or another one where they have one key and about 1000 locks to search through. I like to see frustration and drama!
And Ron seriously needs to just stay in India, or better yet go back to China because he can speak that language.

I think I could have been more invested in the tea one if I knew what made it so hard. All we were told is that the Snapple tea they tasted in China was among the other teas on the table.
No idea how many different kinds there were, how many of the teas there were on the table, what flavors were there and how similar they were or if they had to drink the whole thing once they tasted. Needle in a haystack tasks work best when we can cheer on teams to do something the right way knowing it will make a difference.
It was really very nice of Flight Time to go and hug Margie and Luke knowing they gave it their all. I wasn't too big of a fan their first season but I have come around to them this time.

I think what made it so hard was that the teams probably never thought that the two tasks would be connected. They had probably forgotten the taste of the original one. I probably would have, haha.
I will say though, after getting a few wrong I would have gone directly to smelling. Tea is a very fragrant drink and unless they were all fruity (which they didn't appear to be) it shouldn't have been too difficult. But the episode probably could have been funnier if they showed how many times the teams had to go to the bathroom afterward. Every time I've ever had to drink tea, I feel like my bladder shrivels up to the size of a pea and I have to pee about every 10 minutes.
Sad to see Luke's breakdown and I would have preferred the Trotters to go home, but it is what it is. Margie and Luke's relationship is a pretty cool thing, even if they weren't one of my favorite teams this time around.
I just finished TAR and I had tears, after Luke had his breakdown. Just something about how defeated he felt and how his mother gave him support meant and showed a lot. It is an amazing relationship. They definitely weren't my favorite team this time around, but still I felt bad. When she told him to just finish, because he would feel so much worse afterwards if he didn't, was amazing.
I also think it would be funny to see how many pee breaks were taken, especially from team pee pee. Snapple always make me go to the bathroom. You know older people and there bladder, I bet Ron was in the bathroom after each cup.
I enjoyed this episode. The Cowboys are growing on me.

I must be a bad person. I was laughing and thinking to myself, "You blind U-Turned someone with malice and got away with it, but the long arm of karma has no bounds."
I'm really rooting for Gallory and the Globetrotters. I'm not really interested in any other of the teams.
Same! I'd be sooo happy if Gary and Mallory win!!
This is who Mallory reminds me of this season:

I don't remember her being nearly that annoying last season...
She is definitely annoying. Mallory must have caffeine running through her veins 24/7. If I were that cheery all the time, that would be a miracle.
Fab, you're a mod!? Congrats!!!!
Mallory is annoying. But she is cute, so I'll let it pass. She actually makes me laugh a little bit. I wish she was teamed with Ron- maybe they would balance eachother out. I wonder how many times the cameraman and other teams wanted to smack her!
Also, what was the purpose of Amanda and Kris? They were extremely forgettable on both seasons.
And Kent also makes me laugh. He seems like a character from a Tim Burton film. I think I saw him and Vyxsin as extra's in The Corpse Bride.
