Amazing Race 13: Episode Discussion
My favorite reality show premieres tonight! (If only it was in HD as this is probably the most HD worthy spectacle in the entire network stable of shows.) I have not really looked at the cast so I don't have any early favorites, but I am sure at the end of the opening hour strong impressions will have formed. I usually "pick & stick" in the first 15 minutes of the first episode and have been lucky these last few years that my favorites have gone far into the season. BTW: I am watching the Season 12 marathon on the Travel Channel right now in preparation!
The two platinum blond women in pink on far right had better last a very long time because they beat out Vision 1's team during casting, two blond soccer moms known as "the Heathers."
I'm guessing that you might have rooted for The Heathers if they had been cast, because they would be her at Vevmo with us...
Maybe you'll get them on next season. ;) Ok, time for the show!
I wasn't sad to see the team that was last go. (I will keep from spoiling it if anyone has DVR'd and not watched yet.) Just kept forgeting about them unless they were actually on the TV.
I don't know about any of you but if I chose the task to climb up the stairs and answer the question... my mind would be thinking what possibly could that question be? Duh! How many steps! Morons. May seem too simple and obvious but it can't hurt to count just in case. That's my logic anyway. My husband didn't think it was the logical conclusion that that would be the question. But it was, so I would have been right. Yay, me. I don't really have an impression on most of the teams yet, but the running coach and uptight gf...I don't like so much. Why so uptight about people not liking you or not wanting to be friendly? It's a race for a million dollars!

It's a race for a million dollars!
I saw that couple (with the running coach) when they were showing the introductions and I thought I'd like them. As soon as Terrance opened his mouth on the race he fell directly to "most hated" status. What an *******. I am not sure why women are attracted to men like that... I was glad to see the Hippie couple go. They might have offered some entertainment value in a fish out of water way and possibly been better at many of the tasks that would be presented in the future (TAR loves farm challenges) but the fact is they were outmatched from the beginning. We don't get to see the spread from last to second last but I bet it was the better part of half an hour. The bimbos are now in last and I suspect they will be the next team to go. Unlike the power blondes of TAR 10 (11) they don't seem to have brains or wiles... Here are "my" teams after episode one: Mark & Bill - Geek Squad: They seem friendly and smart. Low on the diva scale. Andrew & Dan - Frat Boys: I have to pull for my ASU brethren even though I don't think they fully represent the best examples of greek society on campus. To be honest, I just like the "superbad" haircut on Andrew. Nick & Star - Twins: They both seem nice, fun and athletic. I don't see it anywhere in the CBS profile that Nick is gay - but come on, lol. I think they have a good shot at the money.
Hey B- I went to ASU for a summer! It was a breath of fresh air compared to the itty-bitty-overly-strict school I went to the rest of my college career.
I have been so caught up in Survivor stuff that I almost forgot about the Amazing Race! The 1st episode was great, and I think it is going to be a good season. I still don't have a favorite team yet....

Tonight was the episode of how stupid can I possibly be and how can I trump it in 30 seconds? The Divorcees are dumber than dumb and they were lucky that there were other dumb teams racing against them. This probably won't come as a huge surprise but I'm rooting for the geeks. I have low tolerance for dumb and ******** and we seem to have our fill this season. How ironic that marathon boy alienates teams that form alliances and belittles his girlfriend because she wants to make friends. Then when they are in need, he makes good with the one team that stopped. I don't care he's a ******* and I want them to get eliminated next.

Maybe a the next roadblock would include him having to read a Dear John letter from her. Poetic justice...

They are smart, on the level and funny. Right now they are at the top of my list, but I have a feeling they will bite it sooner rather than later when it comes to a more physical challenge. I was sad to see Anthony and Stephanie go as they seemed nice and even though they did not rank high as far as entertainment value goes, they were more tolerable than much of the field. I absolutely hate Terrance, although I think Sarah deserves him. I literally wanted to strangle him in each and every scene he was in...
Here are the ratings for TAR last night. The drop between the final "60 Minutes" number and the 9 pm number, suggest a big chunk of the audience left after watching "60 Minutes." That is not a good sign. At 8 pm, CBS was third with a 3.7 for the end of “60 Minutes” and the start of “The Amazing Race...” At 9 pm. CBS was fourth with a 2.9 for the end of “Race” and beginning of “Cold Case...”

That is not a good sign.
There were inflated football numbers in the 60 minutes Nielsen ratings (it was up over 4 million viewers from last week which had less of an NFL boost, i.e. 10 minute overrun versus 30 minute overrun.) Not that I personally think TAR fits well out of 60 minutes anyway. I liked it on Wednesdays. TAR still pulled 10.78 million viewers (up from 10.29 million viewers last week) which makes TAR 14 a safe bet.

I was really hoping that they would stay lost when trying to find the cabs.... Sadly I think they are going to be around for awhile. Ha ha, the 2 divorced wives cracked me up! I still can't believe they spent all that time looking for a container that they didn't need! And to top it off, they let their cab leave! I still don't have a favorite... I was sad to see Anthony and Stephanie go as well.... Why couldn't it have been Terrence and Sarah?!?!
I know I can't stand him either! I was really hoping that they would stay lost when trying to find the cabs.... Sadly I think they are going to be around for awhile.
That is always the rub. The teams that are the most annoying are also usually the most athletic. Hopefully there is a missed flight or something along that knocks them out of the running. BTW: Nick (& Star) dropped way down in my rankings this episode (by no fault of Star.) Nick is actually another Terrance. We are starting to see how he treats his sister and the other contestants (and it doesn't look good.)
I can't wait for tonight's episode! :D Are you watching tonight Bacchus?
I can't wait for tonight's episode! :D Are you watching tonight Bacchus?
Closing the laptop right now and turning it on!
I can't wait for tonight's episode! :D Are you watching tonight Bacchus?
I know I can't wait its about to start.
Well, the geeks bit it and there were so many other much more deserving teams... I am starting to root whole heartedly for Nick and Star's demise. They just rub me the wrong way. Looks like next week they might get their comeuppance. Terrance and Sarah were as annoying as usual. Dallas and his Mom have been growing on me although I can see her as a weak link in the long run. However, for the time being they make a good underdog team. Not sure what I think about the brunette or blonde teams. Neither are overly appealing. I am not sure who I like that has a realistic chance of winning at this point. Normally I pull for the "young cute couple with issues" but this year that pairing sucks... (Of course, I liked Rob & Kimberly - TAR 10 - and everyone hated them, so what do I know.)
Tonights most annoying team award goes to.... Nick and Star! They really got on my nerves tonight... I thought I was going to like them on the 1st episode. The brunettes were very lucky tonight. I kind of like the feud that is going on between them and Nick and Star. I am kind of bummed that the geeks are eliminated, because they were growing on me. Terrance and Sarah (Mostly Terrance) Didn't get on my nerves half as bad as the last two episodes. I am sure he will make up for it in the next episode.
Terrance and Sarah weren't as annoying, but they were still really, really, really annoying. Yeah, I'm with you guys I'm over Nick and Star but they are always creating some kind of friction which adds for good tv. I like the mother-son team. The football player and his annoying wife, she now really gets on my nerves.
I felt bad for our geeks. They tried so hard. Things would have turned out a whole lot different had he been able to complete the task in one try. The Frat boys are yucky, the one can't keep his fingers out of his nose! I'm glad that they didn't show too much of Marathon boy, other than his constant yelling at her to hurry up. I'm not sure who to root for now.
I'm not sure who to root for now.
I think the show has been good, but feel we got seriously shortchanged with the cast.
I think the show has been good, but feel we got seriously shortchanged with the cast.
I totally agree. There is really not that many great people to root for. I like the son and mother but I'm afraid they won't stay in long. And then who do we go for?
Alright! I didn't miss the Amazing Race :D I really hope a team that I dislike goes home. (Terrence and Sarah, Nick and Starr)
Alright! I didn't miss the Amazing Race :D I really hope a team that I dislike goes home. (Terrence and Sarah, Nick and Starr)
I set my DVR to record TAR AND Cold Case (as I saw there was going to be a football overrun.) I hope the same thing you are hoping when I watch tomorrow. ;)
Ahhh I love Kelly and Christy! Haha And Phoenix I like Terrence and Serah! Ha.
Ahhh I love Kelly and Christy! Haha And Phoenix I like Terrence and Serah! Ha.
I still don't have a favorite yet. I think I am starting to like the Son and Mom though. Haha, I like Sarah.... just not Terrence. :D
