Abram Boise Interview (Cut Throat)
Road Rules:South Pacific Challenges: Gauntlet 1, Inferno 1 (win), Battle of the Sexes 2, Inferno 3 (win), The Island, Cut Throat 1. First, thanks for taking time Abe. A popular question seems to be people want to know what inspired you to write your first book? MTV has given us a very different edit of the Abe we see now lately, a side of you we have never seen. Most people have been surprised to hear that some of your favorite hobbies are that you love to write and paint. AB: First, thanks for the interview and I really like that first question. My inspiration for the Star of Happiness (my first published children's picture book) was the idea of inspiring hope and imagination in millions of minds. The book is all about pursuing one's own individual happiness, and what is right for one person may be different for you or me. It was not just those ideas that I wanted to convey, I also wanted to have beautiful and colorful artwork that could help to get people's imaginations going. It was not just overnight either- I have been working on this book for seven years before I finally got investors and was able to publish. As far as MTV "editing" and showing a different side of me - I did and said all the things on the show and I am not going to try and say I am totally different person, its just that you only get to see a fraction of me in a very strange setting. Outside the shows I run my own business, Boise Buildings, an energy efficiency architectural design company. I have used the money from the shows to invest in my first independent project- The Sun House - Villas & Executive Golf Course. Its a 40 acre development in Paradis Valley, Montana with the first main 5500 sq ft vacation house complete and now available for rentals. What I am trying to say with all this is that you are only getting a small glimpse of everything I do and who I am. 2. Where can people purchase your book and the rest of your material?. AB: You can see samples of the book at starofhappiness.com and also order the book or/and the blanket that goes with the book. 3. The most popular questions out of all them I must say everyone is curious as to will you be back?will you ever do a challenge again?. AB: I would - I really hated the shows for a while, peaking when I did The Island, but I always seem to make it to the end and even if we lose the final I still make it out with a good chunk of change which I can then reinvest. More than the money I really just want to be challenged mentally and physically - I was really hoping to get scared on this last challenge, but I was really bored for the most part - I want to do something epic, like what I do off the shows. I am a whitewater raft guide at Paradise Adventure on the Yellowstone river and I take people through class 4 rapids, and we go rock climbing on some pretty gnarly stuff that will put the fear of god in you...I want that, and I am hoping one of these challenges will provide that. Also the challenges give me a lot of publicity for my projects (The Sun House, and my book The Star of Happiness) which is the real reason I even did this last challenge, Cutthroat. Winning the money was really secondary. 4. Name five castmembers that you would love too see make a comeback. Anybody you would love to do a challenge with? AB: I dont care to see anybody come back - I don't watch the shows. But I do love competing against Derrick. I will say that I miss the old cats I used roll with back in the day - I don't know who any of these new kids are. 5. Tell us two things the viewers don't know about you. AB: Wow - that's a tough one because I really always just lived my life in the open with the shows and never tried to hide. Here you go - and this one is juicy - I am still in love with Coral...I will love her for the rest of my life even if we are not together....and I am totally head over heels in love with Cara Maria. You heard it first here - I probably won't say that anywhere else - I guess I am in just a rare mood and want to be me and not hide it. 7. What made you comeback for Cutthroat? AB: My only reason for going on Cutthroat was so I could get some attention drawn to my book, The Star of Happiness, and my vacation rental development, The Sun House, Villas and Golf Course. 8. I don't know if you watch the shows so I'll explain The Duel format. The Duel is a new challenge where it is basically a singles challenge. If you get the call for the next Duel would you accept? AB: they dont tell us the format - so I would not know it in advance. Every time I say yes it's a surprise when I get there. So it doesn't matter which format to me - once I commit, I commit. I would like to go head to head just to see- I love competing against an unkown competitor. I have tons of philosophy behind this, it's a big part of my life. 9. Your personal opinion how have the Challenges changed? Compare the first few you did with The Inferno3 and Cutthroat. AB: The first few challenges I did were way better. Not only would we do crazy stuff, like flying fighter planes in a dog fight, we also had the weekends to go out and have fun- I have some of the wildest stories of my life from partying while at the location of the show when the cameras were not around. Now it's worse than military reform school. I also think personally that they are focusing more and more on the bull**** petty drama, and I also have seen that the cast members are not as cool as the old ones- not as interesting. It seems like most of the new cast just want to scream at each other without saying anything at all, get drunk, make out with everyone, and then act like they are all that. It might as well be Jersey Shore - a true low point in human civilization. 10. Anybody that just makes your blood boil? Any castmember you would love to face on a one on one elimination and just devour them? Or anyone thats just a thorn on the side to you at all? AB: I dont hate anyone - sure ,some are outrageously annoying. I just try to avoid everybody. Laurel was impressively disrespectful though - out of everyone I have ever met on the shows. Questions(Topics) to come on Part 2: Update on him and Adam L., Wildest Memories, Future projects, C.T and Tina, Jenn, The Future of the Challenges, His opinion on the FM2 Cast, His thoughts on The Cut Throat Challenge Drama.

I loved his responses and surprised he threw that Coral one out there. He also asked for the address to the site:D so he might be reading this now come out and play Abram:D. Guess the whole cast though agrees on Laurel being ridiculous lately. Im excited though that hes open to doing more!. One of the few old school Road Rulers left still showing he gots it!:).
I have seen pictures from his vacation house, and it is absolutely gorgeous.
Yay Abram! One of my favorites. I like that he's different. That's also why I like Cara Maria.
This was very nice to read. It's always nice to see another side of the castmembers than we do on the shows and how they are shown/edited. Very itneresting involving Coral, wonder how she feels.
He and Cara Maria are awesome together. They both seem like they have good hearts, attractive, but quirky in choices of style. You can definitely see a lot of chemistry between the two.
I have seen pictures from his vacation house, and it is absolutely gorgeous.
Beautiful. I love the painting of the tree that flows from wall to ceiling, etc. in the one bathroom. Very impressive. Thank you for doing the interview.
love Abram! He's one of my all time favorites..up there with CT, Brad, and the Miz on the challenges. I love what he had to say about the new cast, especially Laurel. It seems like a lot of the older cast members are not impressed with her behavior.
Abram has always been one of my favorites because he is REAL on these shows and he's so down to Earth and he can also be really extreme. And he will beat your *** if you push him too far, well he would use to. And I like how he doesn't really like the challenges nearly as much as the old ones. So if he continues to come back then that just shows he is a true competitor (not that he hasn't shown that already) because you don't get to go out and have fun anymore on these Challenges (something I think they should bring back). And I think it's awesome how he said he likes competing against Derrick. And I like how he mentioned Coral as well. Good interview... very good Julie !! And please get a Derrick interview if you can !! That would be awesome too.
Wow absolutely loved that interview, he's truly an honest and blunt guy. His thoughts on the current Challenges and Laurel seem to be same sentiment on here, and on here..pretty interesting stuff. Good Job Julie!

And if Abram saying it, that's really saying something.
Awesome interview!

I liked it, good job.
Great interview!! I'm really shocked to hear he still feels strongly enough about Coral to just throw it out there.

Thanks guys glad you liked it ill have part two up next week. Btw minor note to those of you who wanted me to ask him about castmembers. I didnt sorry its because he wouldnt know what any are up to since he stated throughout the interview that he does not keep up intouch with any of them. Throughout the whole thing he mentioned alot how he hates the way the show has evolved and he also dosent watch the shows.
Always liked Abe. The first RW season I ever really watched was Paris just because Chris was gonna be on it, and Abe's season of Road Rules was on at the same time, they both were kind of in the same role on both their shows as being the outcasts of their season.
His is the only season of RR I remember well and I hated he went home and that Donnell smart behind got to stay. I found the comment about the challenges now being like a military school interesting. I think a lot of people's issues with the Challenges and Real World all boil down to how they are so much like a predictable formula people get tired of where churning out product placement programming is a higher priority than quality TV.

I suspect that BMP is trying to get the most amount of drama in the least number of days possible to do it in. Cutting people off from the outside and not allowing people to socialize off camera would keep tensions high leading to "drama" and get in and out of filming more quickly with fewer crew members. One of the things that irritates me every time I hear it is about how production controls so much of where RW casts can go and then acts like they are just voyeurs. I would rather see Challengers just hanging out some talking about something other than "the game" than hear yet another product placement spot. I am shocked that we do not get a "Band Aid" pitch whenever someone gets a boo boo.
One again, thank you so much XxJulieCxX and Abram for doing this interview. It's been a nice treat to come home from work and see a portion of it sooner than I thought! I just had a feeling he still loved Coral and would always. So it was interesting to hear that. They really seemed to share something special - something kind of rare to see on reality TV. I can see how he fell for CM, because both he and CM are kind of out there. Both of those women share a couple of similarities (though maybe small and general). I remember when Landon first started complaining a lot about the conditions of Duel 2, and I was thinking that he should just stop doing the shows if he was that annoyed. But I've heard more and more about how they put restrictions on the casts (i.e. only one person could go out to jog at a time on Duel 2), and I hate that they do it. It changes the atmosphere. These people have nothing else to do but drink. People have gotten increasingly more violent and drunken, too, so they really need to rethink things. If it's about trying to prevent spoilers, well, people still find out the info anyway. Plus it must really be annoying to travel to a new place and not get to explore it at all. And Abram said it was worse than military reform school - well, I remember Tina said on Inferno 2 he went to military reform school, so he knows how that is! I LOVE the house he did. It just blew my mind when I first saw the pictures. Amazing. And I love his and Derrick's interaction. Hopefully there will be a scene of them hanging out sometime in Cutthroat.
That was a great interview, probably one of the best I have ever read of a cast members. Thank you for interviewing him.
That was a great interview, probably one of the best I have ever read of a cast members. Thank you for interviewing him.
It is good, and I think it's a shame he hasn't really been interviewed more throughout all of his challenge experiences. Well, at least, I haven't run across much from him. But really, these cast members don't get as much media attention as other reality shows. I don't think they should be like celebrities or anything, but I wish there were more outlets into interviewing them. MTV doesn't even provide extended interviews like they used to. Dailies are good, but I think more was put into things in the past.
[strike]it doesn't surprise me that laurel is "impressively disrespectful." she has problems, she has the social skills of a 12 year old.[/strike] It doesn't surprise me that Laurel is "impressively disrespectful." She has problems, she has the social skills of a 12 year old.
Thank you Julie! Also, I would thank Abram, but I'm sure he knows people appreciate it.
Loved how open and candid he was about everything. I really liked his line about the new people who like to "scream at each other without saying anything at all"...that was such a good way of putting it. I remember back on some of the older Challenges (Inferno and Inferno II in particular, both of which Abram was on), they were allowed to go out to bars and have a good time. Now they just stay in the house, which encourages "bull**** petty drama", as Abram puts it. Well done, I like Abram even more now for telling it like it is and saying what I've been thinking about these shows.
Abram always seemed like a cool cat. Definitely has a few anger management issues, but I always liked him. He was always there to play the game. He never intentionally started drama. It's interesting to see a different side of him and I was pretty taken aback when he spoke about Coral. I wonder if he still speaks to her. I know he said he doesn't speak to anyone from the shows, but he had something special with her. I also liked his brutal honesty about doing the show to gain recognition for his outside projects. Great interview. Thanks.
Great interview! I liked the fact that he said he loves to compete against Derrick, an elimination round between the two of them would be EPIC
Great Interview. Interesting to know that he still has feelings for Coral and What he said about the new castmembers is spot on.
Awesome! Thanks for the interview. Is part 2 comming out today?
