It's interesting how society has changed so much a moment like this would've gotten David an interview on multiple talk shows or at least a morning news show. Danielle voting out Carolyn made more noise than this.
$5 million prize pot is insane. What's the ratings like on this show to be that much? I guess Mr. Beast just did $10 mil.
To be fair that prize wasn't planned at all. I doubt the show has anywhere near the ratings to justify it especially when we're still seeing shows with like 250k winnings. Wouldn't be surprised if producers were getting reamed out by the network after that and we see changes next season making a big prize like that pretty much impossible. It was already extremely unlikely someone would have the one case left on the board be the big one but they'll probably make sure it doesn't happen again
THAT WAS INSANE! craziest reality moment I've seen in a long time!
"The biggest balls in Australia!" lmaoo
what a legend. $5.8 million is crazyyyyy! it's like he won Survivor almost 6 times lol
This show is firing on all cylinders now. they'll probably have tons of reality vets calling up NBC to get on season 3 now. maybe this could even get Coral to come back to tv

the host Joe said that production was freaking out behind the scenes towards the end, and were frantically calling up network lawyers as it got closer to the final case and the total kept going up lol
Doesn't surprise me. They throw around these huge numbers on this show but I doubt they thought anyone would have the balls to turn down even 1.5 million. Big question is can David avoid paying taxes on his winnings? I know the Canadians who've won Survivor haven't had to pay but David I believe has a residence in the states so not sure if it'd be possible to get around it
I imagine next season they are going to do everything they can to cast people willing to take less money or spend less money on the cast...or structure it in any way that this doesn't happen again.

David lives in NY iirc. It was mentioned on one of his Ausvivor showings I think.
Idk why yall acting like they didn't prepare their budget to fit someone winning the max prize. Think of game shows that air daily and give out big prizes every week. This is chump change.
That's fair. With how much it could have been maybe they're pretty happy with the outcome. A large sum to keep viewers excited but not as much as it could have been.

What shows give out an average of about half a million in winnings an episode?

For game shows like this, they will take out an insurance policy, Prize indemnity insurance, which will cover the expenses for large prizes. It also is why it's unlikely the game was rigged because the producers would open themselves up to a huge amount of liability and a lawsuit that would bankrupt them.
I wonder which reality legends they'll get for next season. they've been doing a good job of only bringing on the best of the best from their respective shows. they could prolly get anyone they want now after that finale.
This article is JUICY. I wish I kept up with exit interviews but I had to mute dalton ross since I watch this show days after it airs

They literally put the grand prize money in the 1 of the 2 cases he told production he would pick. They knew what they were doing.
