jk it's probably still more entertaining than this show at this point..
It's a strategy game, in my opinion The Challenge is like Survivor and Big Brother combined and while it's definitely better than BB, The Challenge has never reached the heights of Survivor, IMO.
However, Survivor has some absolutely stellar seasons and also some absolutely awful ones. The quality can vary quite drastically season to season. While, IMO, The Challenge lately sits at a comfortable 6/10 most of the time.

i only ever started watching millenials vs gen x and ghost island i think it was? my favorites kept getting voted out first so i tuned out
The Challenge at its peak is/was the best reality tv show out there. The only thing that comes close for me personally is Housewives, although completely different shows.
The Survivor audience is the best chance for this show to gain viewers yet they will still air at the same time as Survivor, lol. They do the same thing with BB when Tuesdays are right there. I don't work in that industry, but I can't possibility see how that makes sense. I genuinely think MTV just doesn't care and/or incompetent.
wait this got more ratings than season 40 that had all those OG's and a million people on lmaoooo
90 minutes of literally nothing happening isn't enough to captivate an audience. Who is sitting through 45 minutes of boring to watch dailies/eliminations, 10 poor strategy whispering, and 5 minutes of Cara & Derek in drag each week? Literally no one find that's entertaining.
my number 1 theory is that the mtv producers and the people in charge of the creative direction of the show are aging and losing touch. that's why they're focusing less on entertainment and also casting older rookies that aren't worth investing in from a longevity standpoint. they're creating the show based on what they personally vibe with despite it being not enticing to younger audiences who want messiness. i'm guessing the same people have been working behind the scenes for a very long time are still in charge and just aren't as good at creating a new product like they used to. kind of like an old person slowly losing their ability to drive on the road. at some point you just gotta take away the license....
my number 2 theory is that the production crew is an entirely new one and they got rid of all the old ones, and that's the reason why there was a major shift in quality/aesthetic. it seems like the transition from war of the worlds to total madness was based on them doing a mass layoff and getting an entirely new creative direction and casting team.
granted i don't really know how the reality tv industry works or how production teams for shows work at all, but there has to be some sort of reason for the weird vibe shift that happened around the time of the pandemic and those are my 2 theories. idk what other explainations there could be
I mean MTV now shows Friends and The Big Bang Theory all the time. I'm not convinced the network even cares about the demo any more. They just want any viewers...apparently The Challenge is their best option against Survivor???
That's...shocking. I know it's a polarizing season but there's certainly worse seasons.
I really didn't find most of them to be likable tbh, I liked David but other than that nobody. I also thought casting went overboard with trying to highlight the differences between the two tribes. Most of the millennials seemed very immature for their age and most of the Gen Xers looked a LOT older than they actually were. I tend not to like seasons where the genders are completely off balance. I think final 10 was 8 men and 2 women. Also Adam is very very cringe to me. I lost my father while that was airing and remember thinking "god I hope I'm not coming across like Adam" lol.
I didn't realize Teen Mom and Love & Hip Hop get less views than the Challenge. I honestly was expecting a lot more for both. Yeah, this show isn't going anywhere. It's all MTV has.
I always said since the year delay in the release of All Stars 4 that the best move for the short-term survival of the All Stars franchise was to get off of Paramount Minus and prove they belong on cable.
That way you're not at the mercy of a failing streaming service in a failing company. MTV might only have 3-4 years left but its future at least is brighter than Paramount Minus.
Only thing that sucks is censored episodes. But hopefully for AS6 we'll get 14 episodes and maybe 90 minute premieres and finales!
So gays are the largest and most loyal demographic. Not surprised! <3
drag race is essentially a staple of gay culture at this point. there's a whole category of 'am i the only one who doesn't watch drag race' kind of gay

idk why but i remember i was rooting for that catholic girl libby but she merged with the other tribe and they jumped her and got her eliminated
Libby was cute! I always thought she coulda worked on a Challenge USA type season.
Millennials vs Gen X is like a 7/10 season. Ghost Island is dogshit. Seriously like a 1.5/10 lol. Sorry you watched it!
i stopped watching millenials vs gen x because i was like 13 when it aired and was rooting for the red haired gamer girl and she got booted second.
screw you FIGGY and that's why you lost squid games
M vs GX is my second least favorite ever behind Worlds Apart
Almost no Davonne means ratings go up

It's peak was early 2000s. It had a second life during Final Reckoning but after WOTW2 it DIED hard and hasn't breathed since.
Somebody get the ouija board.

For a newbie, I will always recommend Cagayan (28)! I think you'll really like it

How many episodes is AS5 again?
This is why many of us keep saying the numbers are great. MTV is thrilled.
You repeat this all the time. We get you think it's great.
