You need to practice some empathy here. Those *fill in the blank* months are for communities that don't have equal representation, whose success stories are not as top-of-mind, and whose opportunities are not as plentiful. These months give us the opportunity to shine some light on what has been overlooked, and celebrate differences that have historically not been celebrated. I believe those communities can be celebrated without putting down straight white men (which I can see many leftists do), but you also need to understand education is a necessary ingredient to equality too. For a straight white man to say they don't see any value in diversity months takes a LOT of hubris....there's a blind spot there. Not trying to attack, trying to make a point. Maybe those months (that don't affect and aren't targeted at you), bring a lot of joy and pride to the people of those communities. At the end of the day these observances don't affect you negatively, nor do they demand your involvement, but all the same something compels you to make the decision for everybody that they are useless.
