No? CVP filmed for like two weeks. They stayed in hotels, had full access to internet, could come and go basically at will, etc.
I believe even the first season of the flagship where it was just Real Worlders in an RV filmed for close to a month. And the while the first four seasons weren't them confined to a house because they were all on the road in an RV/tour bus, they were limited to interacting only with the cast, crew and random people they met on the missions.
Battle of the Seasons onward were them locked up in a house, and only let out to go eat/drink/dance essentially. No friends/fam on location (outside of a baby one season), limited internet access (they could answer emails on a shared computer irrc), and limited calls (which is still similar to today).
Now, S1 wasn't actually a competition between teams/cast members and there was no final the first two seasons, which is a big difference so I can see why some think those are iffy. But that was the challenge at the time -- CVP filmed while the challenge was so so much more.

Tori's done fine -- she was third as a rookie behind two more experience women, good on WOTW2 up to that puzzle, she was objectively the best women in SLA final and a dumb twist lost it for her (Kaycee getting CT for being terrible), USA2 was lost on an axe throw, and WC she was against the best in Jordan.
But yeah, if I was Cara or Tori, I'd rather face the other because they're pretty similar in finals -- better to face each other than enduance beast Jenny and a more well-rounded player Aviv. Rachel I'd be fine running against if only because losing to a legit OG is fine.

i think in general finals are way more luck based than what people give them credit for. you can be a superhero and get last place due to a random puzzle that you've never seen before or a math equation that trips you up

They're even similar stats on getting to finals -- Cara is 10 for 15., Tori 6 for 9 = 66.7% rate
Champs Vs Stars does not count and never has. Go back and watch Darrell's mercenary episode and see how many times they referred to him as a 4-time champ.
